how do I know SPi's bad?

Cuz I worked for them.  All you have to do is look at all the posts on this company board and you'll see that there's not a positive one in the bunch.  But here's some glaring examples for you to consider:

They fire people en masse by scheduling them for a conference call and then fire them all at once over the phone.  They fire people and shut down their access to software.  Guess how those people found out they no longer worked for SPi?  They tried to log into their job sites to go to work and couldn't get in.  They had to call the office and get shuffled from one person to the next until somebody (the right somebody) told them they'd been terminated.  Ethics and professionalism are foreign concepts to this company.

They fire good, dedicated, hard working employees while keeping people in management who have less experience or who do stuff that is totally illegal like telling other workers who's about to get fired and who's doing poorly; or tell you you can have vacation and then tell you they never approved it (keep EVERYTHING in writing if you against all advice do work for them).  What happens when you try to let those people's supervisors know what's going on?  THAT person tells the person you reported.  You can't even get phone numbers to things like human resources departments when you need them.  Anything and everything must go through your direct supervisor for approval, and just forget about it if you have one of the supervisors who micromanage every detail, who are paranoid, who literally sabotage anyone who is good at their job because it threatens them.....

They give higher line count requirements to the US MTs and QAs, fire those that can't make the minimums and then lower the minimums when they only have overseas people in those positions.  They give no break when they switch you from server to server and/or account to account to learn the ins and outs of the new stuff you're covering, & they still keep the line requirements.  They say they're cutting back on employees and positions at the same time they're posting job openings overseas for those same positions.  (set yourself up a Google alert to be notified when 'spi-bpo' shows up online.  You'll receive job postings they've posted overseas all the time.)

Meanwhile, while they harp about every stinking little comma in US employees' audits, they let the offshore people send reports with so many errors you spend more time editing their garbage than it would take you to type 5 of their reports.  They are not held to the same standards.  But hey, they're cheap labor, so why should SPi care about anything remotely resembling fair?

I could go on and on but you get the idea hopefully.  Seriously?  I'd work for minimum wage outside of my home before I'd work for these heartless, money-grubbing, biased people ever again.  and you should consider it.
