they send you a tape (you chose micro or standard) with instructions on their format (instructions state that they purposely pick a couple of undesired dictations to see if you can do it). they also state that only 1 (or was it 2) in 10 make it through; i wasnt one of them. you type it and send it back per their instructions. it took about 3 weeks before i heard from them by email that i didnt pass (dont know how they would contact you if you did pass). its strictly radiology, which i have experience on, but ho hum.
i did see another post where x-press transcription make you purchase expensive equipment, and that they do run out of work all the time.
good luck if you pursue them, though. hope my info helped a bit.
