not a TT'er

Posted By: wondering on 2008-01-18
In Reply to: Since this thread is about TransTech, my guess is - upset poster works for TransTech, ya think?

Not a TT'er, but they don't sound so bad either with their teired program.  I only transcribe as a second job - first job is an auditing position for private hospitals.  Did my first email sound upset?   Not upset, just asking................

STAY AWAY......that sums it all up in a nutshell!
soon to be TT'er
i think i'm heading that way myself!!
Hello MQ'er
What in the world is bothering you? I posted a note looking for some support. Of course I know that I should have checked how to spell SpongeBob and it was wrong to be rushing. However, it is kind of ridiculous and just about anyone would agree with that. Who cares if you are a mother, daughter, sister, niece and friend with many interests?

You stress that you live in the United States of America where we have freedom of speech. I think we all know that. You really shouldn't be so upset about this post. Move along and call one of your friends. You are just annoying people on this board who have a rapport with me. There must be another poster who could use your input. I just am not interested in hearing from you again this evening.

I hope you understand.

OSi'er

I love working for OSi (and no I am not related to anyone at OSi) The pay is on time, plenty of work, QA department is the best (very polite and professional).  OSi may not be for everyone, but you never know until you give them a try.  The recruiters are very friendly and polite.  My experience is very positive.

Not a TT'er but.....
I do the same. I adjust. If there is no work with my company, I clean or run my errands and then work in the evenings. It happens. It's the job.
Ex-MQ'er here
I can honestly say that I did learn a lot there although it wasn't exactly a positive outcome. I will say though that if you haven't talked to your production supervisor (PS) yet then do so. At most all they can do for you is give you sample reports of whichever doctor you need help on. Too, make a list of job numbers of your reports and sent that to your PS saying you want to see it after they've QA'd it. If you're being moved around alot from one hospital to the next like I was then sample reports may or may not help. Since you are new maybe they'll take it easy on you before opening you up to more work pools.

Good luck!

There has been a lot (almost an obscene amount of posting about TT) lately. This is happening all over with a lot of mid-sized MTSOs. I left 2 MTSOs for the same reason. Two weeks notice of increase in premium, change of carrier and decrease in benefits. What can I say? MTs are a high risk category and TT isn't the only MTSO to suffer the fall out. In case you are interested, both the other companies were located in TN. I couldn't afford their sudden increase in rates/decrease in benefits. I became an IC and my tax benefits are far better than I expected. I can find HI outside an employer's offering that is less than what MTSO's are now subjected to. Point: TT is not the only MTSO going through the same issues with HI coverage. Unfortunately, we need to deal with it...this is not an isolated case.

Yes - pick 2 or 3 of the most frequently talked about companies on this board, find out their criteria, etc. and pick one. If it doesn't work out, you can either go somewhere else or re-apply to the Q. I left last month, had a few problems getting settled with new company, but things are running more smoothly and I think it is going to be great after all - no more time clock, only one VERY LARGE ACCOUNT, several people always willing to help with everything. I do not miss that clock one bit. Also, the account I have is so much like the one I started on years ago with the Q, it feels like home. Still have crappy dictators though - some doc's just can't talk, no matter where you go.
Who wants to be a TT'er
I do! Hey, why don't all of you who are so big and bold in your remarks about Transtech sign your name at the end of your posts? That way the ones of you who ARE actual employees of TT can be contacted about your problems you are experiencing and possibly clear up some of the false rumors that a lot of you are continuing to be spread around. And you know what? I would be willing to say that they would speak with you and at the end of the conversation you would still have your job with them.
To MDI'er
This is why I did not choose MDI. It had such a sterling reputation for so many years, so I am just shocked to keep reading on the different boards that so many people do not get enough work. How long has this been going on? What do you think is the reason? Are they overhiring or something? I would actually like to get a second job on an account who uses Bayscribe but have held off contacting MDI because I need more work than I am getting on my first gig. I know that the MDI people are really supposed to be supportive but how was this no work snafu allowed to occur--and continue? How long has it been going on? Are they growing too fast? Do they overhire? I wish them well and would like to join their team but am kind of afraid because I can't afford a second low-work job which runs out most days (single parent here). Got a mortgage and responsibilities. Comments? Suggestings? Not questioning MDI just trying to find out it is for me and can meet my needs. I need to be able to get 750 lines per day from whatever second job I take on a WAV account; am willing to work all Saturdays. I have excellent references,do all specialties (including specialized cards procedures, radiology, pathology and all specialities and subspecialties, including ops). My only specifications are two: 1. There be enough work to give me a minimum of 750 lines per day five days per week and 2. The platform used must be Bayscribe. (I used DQS at MQ and hated it. Then went with small mom and pop which uses Bayscribe, which I love, butI need 750 more lines a day above what they can provide.) They are totally cool with me having a second job. Hints and suggestions gratefully accepted. E-mail if you feel more comfortable. Thanks in advance. P.S. Any Oracle employees who care to weigh in? I know Oracle uses Bayscribe also. Do they have plenty of work? How are they to work for and--most importantly--do they have enough work for their employees? Again, TIA.

To MDI'er
Without overtime and line incentives, do you find you can still make good money at MDI? If you've been there for a while and can provide some feedback on what you think about the company, workloads, ability to make money, QA, work shortages, etc. would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Thanks so much, TT'er...
So far everyone has been wonderful and communication is great. Today the tech person remotely got my email and programs up and running, and on Monday I start officially training. I sound like a kid waiting for Santa Claus, but the weekend is going to DRAG by until I can officially get started, lol!

I haven't been this stoked about starting a new position in...well, I can't remember when.

All the positive posts from TTers who have been there for quite awhile are making me smile like the cheshire cat :-)
Not an MDI'er
Did I maybe squat on somebody's handle? I did work for MDI for about 2 weeks a little over a year ago, but they didn't even have enough work then to train me on the system (I think I made $40 for that 2 weeks), which was really disappointing because in every other way the place seemed great.

However, all the work-wells seem to be dry. I suspect it has something to do with the pipe laid underneath our wells that is draining our water across the ocean (don't you love metaphors!!). Also, though, I think it was the end of the pay period for a lot of folks, and since nobody seems able to make their lines anymore in their regular shifts, that last weekend before payroll ends suddenly has a lot of coverage, leaving things dry come Monday morning.
Q'er
Thank you for your prayers. I believe in prayer and I appreciate it. I was once a Q'er and really got, um, knifed by them, as did thousands of others. I have made the decision to leave the MT world. Not the MTs themselves, of course, but the corporate greed that surrounds it. Remember that line from the old 80's movie called Wall Street. It was spoken by a character named Gordon Gecko and it went something like this: GREED IS GOOD! Too many people have been drinking out of the Greed Kool-Aid Drinking Fountain. I may be poor and may eat rice and hot dogs forever, but I am not supporting this, I'm just NOT. Thank you for your support and kindness.

HAPPY OSi'er
I have been with OSi since 09/06.  I am very happy.  I have read the negative posts in the last week about OSi, but that has not been my experience at all.  Management is great, QA is great, my account is wonderful, I love it.  I have never been happier.  I have never been asked to work overtime and not record it.  I have been paid overtime and incentives for working.  Give them a try and make your own opinion.
Happy MDI'er
I have worked for them 3+ years.  They classify you as a statutory employee for IRS purposes. They pay your FICA and Medicare, you pay federal taxes.  The platform is good and the liaisons are outstanding.  They do offer bonuses when they get behind.
This old DDI'er is at TransTech (nm)

Current MQ'er
I currently work there and in the past 3 months have cut my hours from 40 to 24 (the lowest I can go). Am just trying to work out 401k issues before adios amigos to them! I have had to take on 2 IC jobs to make up the money I have lost with all their CRAZY IDEAS and changes recently. I'd say STAY AWAY!!!!
ditto for this MDI'er as well
Just had one about 6 months ago over a weekend...turned out I was scheduled to work the entire time the bonus was in effect. I really made some good money just for working those days and doing a little extra.
A fellow TT'er
Your need to repeatedly justify yourself is really doing more harm than good. We know your story and we know by now you LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your job, but these posts are really getting old. IMO you're repeated posting does nothing but turn off potential applicants.
To KS'er re: Big Decision
Thanks so much for your feedback. Perhaps I'm missing something in the math but I'm just a bit confused about how you are able to make so much. 1600 lines a day at .09 cpl is $144/day or $720/week. Even if you worked 52 weeks (no vacation) that only comes to $37,440 per year. If you made $61K last year, does that mean you worked a lot of overtime on weekends, holidays, etc.?
To MDI'er - One more question
Just wondered, what do you consider a good line count and how many hours a day does it take you to make it? I've got 15 years experience, so am not new to the field, but not as experienced as you are. My account will be a hospital/clinic type account (no ops). Thanks again for whatever you can share.
Unhappy Z'er
My experience with ZyloMed, if this is the Z out of Naples, Florida, was not a good one. I was on a large radiology account they acquired and I had numerous bad dictators, hard to get lines with different doctors constantly (advertised exclusive for one doctor or a small group). I had doctors from different locations/states. I stayed about two months. I figured I lost around 1,000+ dollars in those two months.

Be warned that they pay by a 65 character line. Make sure you have a good counting program. If they offer a bonus for “catch up” work, document it. Without knowing what your lines are, you will not know if you got your bonus or not.

They IM a lot, including mass IMs. I keep a log of my IMs and had more than one “group IM” of when are you going to start working etc.” I was already logged in and proofing one of many of my bad dictators- so figured this was to others that were signed on and not working. It really did not seem like IC work to me.

My QA was decent to me. I never had any issues with her. I’ve heard that some of the QA is snappy and rude, but like I said, the QA I had was okay.

Read your contract!! If you quit without notice, they can keep half your pay. They take away lines from you from the demos- Emdat Inscribe program- and I believe (I may be wrong) they charge for direct deposit.

This is just my own personal experience with Z. Others may be/have been happy there. It was not a money maker for me and I was very unhappy.
Current DSG'er
Can't speak about Transcend but I would give DSG a thumbs up. They aren't perfect but they try, and seem to learn from mistakes.

And you can't beat the platform IMHO, Docqscribe.
Ex-SS'er myself. Left a month ago and never

looked back!  I have nightmares about that place.

SOON TO BE EX-MQ'ER...you and me both I hope Summertime! nm

happy "old" TT'er

so, I guess I'm a happy old TT'er (only 1-1/2 years) and am very happy. it's the best I've found after going through a bunch of duds.

Ahhh, MTSO'er

Gotcha, I guess you're talking about some MTs, right?  We're talking about the idea of working at home versus in-house.  If you'll re-read your post, it seems to make blanket statements.  Anyway, sorry, you are entitled to your opinions.  Seems you've had some bad experiences with MTs working for you.  But some of us can balance work and family and actually insist upon it.  I have a choice if I want to work part-time or full-time hours.  But if I agree to work part-time hours, I don't want full-time work assigned to me either, and if I refuse to type that full-time work, just please don't call me one of those :)

Happy Webmedx'er sm
Pay always on time, even early at times, my super is great, the benefits are affordable and wonderful, new incentive program will for sure boost my pay! I have been here since 2003 and am staying. I have NEVER run out of work. You can't be a slacker and work here, you have to work when you say and for how long you say. Unfortunately, no M-F schedules, must work a Sat or a Sun. New incentive for Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon at 2 cents more per line. See Job Seeker's board.
MDI'er: Not OP, but would you mind if I e-mailed you?

Soon to be ex-MQ'er, have interview with WebMedX any info please - sm
Also took job with FutureNet as IC, is one better than the other.  I am sure they are both better than MQ.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Youch. Can any current TRS'er confirm if this is true? nm

Does Happy OSI'er ever work? She is too busy posting on MTStars!

Own'er's profile lists degrees in plastics engineering.
Gotta love all the knowledge in medical transcription he brings to the table.
