and it has been wacky and stressful ever since...
I have been there since last September and like it very much..(sm)
They have worked with me on a couple things to make me happier. The pay is always on time. Rather high insurance at the moment but as the other poster said below, there will be a new, much more affordable insurance company starting in March, plus KS now has Aflac. I am on a very high volume account doing mostly ERs and have never really ran out of work.  So far, so good.
I am currently working for them (since September).
Terry is great to work for.  This is a small company that is very good to work with.  The Emdat system is great!  Very easy to work with.  There is plenty of work to keep everyone busy!  Let me know if you have other questions.
I started with Keystrokes in September and so far I like it...(sm)

Before KS I worked at Medquist for 8 years and at a local hospital for 15 years before that.  I think KS is pretty flexible...they seem to be so far and leave you alone.  I don't know about TransHealth or Trans Tech but I do like KS so far. 


I started with KS on September 6 but my insurance did not go (sm)

into effect until December 1.  So there is a 3 month waiting period for the current plan we have.  Not sure if that will change when the new insurance goes into effect. Good luck!

Went to Webmedx and LOTS of work even over the holidays, better base rate, too.
After 8 years at MQ I went to Keystrokes in September 2006..and (sm)
I don't regret it.  For the most part my account doesn't run out of work.  I wish I had a backup but I haven't been able to get one.  But my main account is swamped a good part of the time so when they do run out of work it doesn't usually last long. Good Luck!

Specifically, Axolotl has been low on work since the first of September .... SM
when they lost a huge account.  It affected me and several other people.  However, I have moved on so I don't know about recent developments.  I wonder how long they will continue to pay downtime instead of laying off.
The date is September last year. Why bring it up now that it is being dismissed? sm
Companies get sued by ex-employees for things that are not true all the time. Ask any lawyer, look at the # of dockets in a court every day. The percentage of suits that are true is less than 8%.

This is someone trying to stir up trouble.

Keystrokes does not have ICs.
I gave a couple of days notice, just til September 1st...
The day the merger actually occurred. It was about 3-4 days' notice.

actually, I added it up.
I added up where all the numbers are in parentheses and it came out I lost more than I had in there. I'm waiting for them to send me a bill!!

You don't know how that can happen? It just keeps going down, down, down until poof, all gone. Did yours increase? Probably not. They can decrease until they completely disappear and that's what happened to mine. Luckily, it was the smallest of all the 401K's I have.
How about they added an ad. I proof all day, can't seem to
do it when I don't have to.

They added several new accounts this summer
so I don't know which one you are talking about, but I have been out of work for 2 days too and despite asking for a back-up account I have yet to get one.   I do know that another account is coming on-line next month, though they have hired people for it and those people are probably working on the other accounts in the meantime, taking work from the estabilshed MTs. 
New work types are being added to ML

LOLOL! I don't think we will ever run out of work. They have added three huge
accounts this month alone and I know that there are two scheduled for next month and two the month after. They are growing like crazy and I cannot believe we will ever be slow.

They did say that, with the added "foreseeable future." Right in their own article about the
acquisition it says something about moving some of those jobs onto their VR platform, as well as stating that they plan to offshore more and more work.  So they are concerned about making lots of moola, not the MTs having jobs.  Somewhere in there it even stated something to the effect of they can make more $ by using FEWER MTs with their VR platform.  See the thread above about how the current people have no work on the NIGHT SHIFT, watch it disappear at 10 p.m. every night, even tho they said they only offshore BECAUSE nobody will work the night shift.  And yet the poor night shift worker sits there with no work and watches it go to India.  That's a travesty, especially in our current economy with astronomical unemployment rates.
Yes, they added a tiny bit to the benefits, but now require 12,000 lines.
That was a low blow!!! It is almost impossible to get 10,000 lines on those nasty VA accounts and now they are requiring more. I will be looking for a new home. This sucks!!!

I couldn't tell you about the benefits because I was part-time and didn't need them at that time. They use Dragon MT as their platform. I personally didn't like it.
That account has now added clinic and there are 2 other accounts moving to it. Not sure why they
want the experience, except maybe they need to get them started quickly, and that is easier if they know it in advance.

BTW: The account did get easier as they added work types.
Diskriter off off offshores - and on some hospital accounts - they have not informed the hospital

First for hospital, then outsourced still on same hospital work
and believe it or not, the hospital was so much easier. Had worked at the hospital for 11 years before they outsourced and then worked another 3+ years for the company they outsourced to. What a difference! The company had so many rules and regulations you could hardly keep up with them all, thousands of them, on the same account, mind you. The higher ups would not leave you alone, constant IMs about any and all. I have gotten to the age where I do not need all that and walked the other week. Have scheduled testing with another hospital for this month. Hope I make the cut, love the hospital work 1000 times more than a company.

just a little bit of demographics need to be put in every now and then, but overall, i really like it.

I am so sorry that is happening to you. Are you a single parent?  I know how scary it can be to default on a mortgage. It happened to me back in early 90s before I started work for the hospital I am currently at.  Your supervisor is not a very thorough supervisor. If she checked with most large hospitals, she would see things are done very differently for their at home MTs. My hospital pays for internet connection, provides equipment, and pay is very good. We don't have to do all that extra stuff for HIPPA either. 


Your best bet now would be to try and find a national to work with, but that is scary too.

Sorry. Should have been a little clearer. Looking to meet some other hospital MTs out there. Curious to know... Do you find the same problems with your employer as MTs do with national companies? I have had some may MTs tell me they wouldn't work for hospital, but my hospital doesn't have a third of the problems nationals do. Fortunately for me, my hospital hires within a 3-state radius. For those who are more than 1 hour away, we have conference call meetings.

We use CMT (CequenceMT) and VXP voice. Very user friendly.

That's what I mean. I think hospital work is so much better as far as all of the little quirks go that companies have. Where are you from?

Sounds like my hospital that I work for.  Used to hire from 3-state area only, but now they can hire from anywhere in the U.S.

Probably 99% of the time I would say take the hospital job over the service - but in your case with having a CMT and that amount of experience, pay for production might be a better deal for you. I think you have to decide what is most important, the benefits or a higher salary. As far as security, even though the hospitals have a tendency to go with what looks good on paper budget-wise, the services can also be bought out and changed over so no guarantees either way. I do wonder if more hospitals won't work a little harder to keep some in-house MTs as more and more services sell them a bill of goods they cannot deliver. Geez, they have to wake up sometime, don't they?

I do ops too and I love those. Will you be happy giving those up? Will they be sticking you with long, boring discharge summaries? They get real boring, real fast.

Another thing...a friend of mine, CMT, PA and several other initials, went to work for hospital, which told her she would only have to work in-house for a short period of time. I believe it was six months. It took over a year. 45 miles is a long way to drive, especially if traffic is an issue.

Ask a LOT of questions.

I have worked as home based hospital Transcriptionist since 1990s. They recently took on a new platform and are outsourcing a great deal of our work.  We are running out of work; the outsource company takes almost all of it.  Our jobs are no longer secure. 
I'd go to a different hospital.
