Anybody see the new thing now that internet companies including Comcast are going to monitor monthly
internet usage.
China bailed out some large US companies. I guess we are

Well then I guess it is a good thing that ...sm
close minded people like you don't run our country then. Go do some research before you make comments. A pit bull is a dog like any other. They are steretyped as being vicious because some people fight them. I do not agree with fighting any breed of dog including pit bulls. Those fighting pits are TRAINED to do that. They are not born that way. Some won't even fight after being trained to. I used to have a Yorkie that was a little fellow but he was 10 times meaner than my pit. Actually I will tell you how nice the pit was. With his size he could have easily killed the yorkie. Well the yorkie was constantly growling and biting the pit and one day just reached up and bit him square on the balls. The pit turned around and just looked at him. He could have torn the little fellow apart but he didn't. Now would a unstable mean dog be that calm? You need to rethink your comments. You are way off the mark.
You did the right thing. Don't second guess yourself lady! nm

Chris is pretty hot too. Guess I just have a thing
for bald guys!
I think so many companies are just trying
to cover their but so they won't be sued. I once read on a stroller a tag that said do not collapse while child is in stroller. LOL
We tried one of these companies

and it was supposedly a "reputable" one, recommended highly by just about everyone.  Searched online, you name it.  Thought I did my homework pretty good.  Well, they were a rip off.  Thankfully I kept logs of everyone I talked to about what and when, etc.  They screwed up several of my accounts, didn't pay them for almost 3 months (even though they received payment) and none of my interest rates were adjusted.  I contacted one of the lawers for the cc company that was handling the collection at that point since my company failed to do so and they said that this was a very common thing and that they really did not like to deal with companies like that, would rather deal directly with the person.

Good luck to you though, sounds like you actually found one that does some kind of work.

Mortgage Companies
We have a good one, but it is funny when there is an error on their part they call your employer...  When they want to loan you some more money, they call your house!
So you are saying you do not like insurance companies????
 Belly
Insurance companies always get --
past medical records, no matter what insurance company you apply with. Once they get the records and the diagnosis is documented on your record, it is considered a preexisting condition.
Yep. OIl companies don't like the price low.

They cut production to get the prices up again. If we're not _____ by the oil nations, we're ____ by the American oil companies. G-R-E-E-D is the name of the game in the last few years.

Government tells us to cut our driving. Well, I hate to tell them but between a pickup and a car, we drove a total of  5,838 miles last year, and most of that mileage was 100 miles a day for DH to go to work. I get to the store once a month anymore, 2 mile round trip. The only thing I can cut down on is to walk to the store and back. Been there done that, but I'm no spring chicken and carrying 5 bags or more, well....you'd see a bag every 100 feet.

Mystery shopping companies
Mystery shopping...Has anyone done any work with reputable mystery/secret shopping companies???
no different than amer. companies offshoring.....sm

I don't see how it's any different that american companies are hiring illegals here versus american companies offshoring (which I detest) because the issue on either side is -- bottom line - the dollar -  and what American employers are willing to pay today...........and in either case, we are all losing our jobs to foreigners (whether they are legal, offshore, or illegal workers).

just my opinion.........

He ought to add the MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION companies

Really now. Do you think MT companies really care? I wear
xxxx
As an IC, I don't think they are allowed to have you on a set schedule. Other companies have
gotten in legal trouble because they were treating ICs as employees. With my IC job, I let them know when I can work and, if they need extra help, they will call and ask if I can do more, but they do not TELL me when to work.
I feel sorry for companies. With all the PC nowadays,
They'll be slapped for saying Christmas...they'll be slapped for not.

I agree -- people should be far more tolerant than they seem to be. I'm a Christian but would not be offended if anyone sayd Happy Kwanza or Hannakuh or Happy Allah Day or whatever!

However, in the interest of keeping politically correct and not being offensive to everyone, they resort to the measures you brought up.

I think we should make sure and not be as sensitive about the word Christmas not being used as those we are complaining about are to it being used. We don't want to be viewed as oversensitive, critical or ugly as they are.

As religion really is a personal choice, we should remember that keeping it alive in our personal lives is what is so important.

JMHO
Like if you diss AAMT, certain companies, -
management, etc. or even if you write some perfectly good words that aren't cusswords, you either get that "bad word" thing, or get booted out altogether.
Obviously your on the side of insurance companies
Maybe you should educate yourself on insurance company profits rising via higher premiums despite more claims being denied due to risk.  The problem is not the supposed risks, its the corporate greed.  No matter how much you pay for insurance, a sizable portion of it goes to salary someone to find (and legislate)loopholes so they won't have to pay anyone's claim.  Go ahead and buy into their propaganda that its other customers causing the problem, not their CEO's new mansion or their profit margin.  Then see how much they appreciate your loyalty next time you file a claim.
spyware? Sounds like what companies use
to shadow in to fix technical problems. Also, many services and hospitals have this ability to keep tabs on their work/workers. I had one use it to break in and type a message to me when they needed a stat.

but, sounds like your hubby needs to take up golf or something.
I agree with trying to negotiate with the CC companies

yourself first. That's what I did. We had a medical problem and we went from paying on time for years to 90 days behind in 3 months. We wound up living off the cards...which is an absolute no-no, but couldn't be helped, and wound up with $45,000 in CC debt.

I called them all and they all have programs for hardship cases. They set up payments for you which are lower than what you would usually be paying and they lowered my interest rates again (in the good times, I was paying 9%) from 19% to  21% down to 9% again and one company even lowered my interest rate to 6%!

They automatically take the money from your account and you just have to remember to keep the money in there.  Payments are much lower since they lowered the interest rate and all the cards will be paid off in 4 years.

One company did close my account, but none of the others did. I haven't used a credit card for 2 years and most of the cards I had for 10 years.

Hope this helps and good luck. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

The credit card companies are going
to be do everything they can get away with in the next year because of the new rules that will go into effect in 2010. Keep an eye on your interest rates. I have a couple that went up for no apparent reason. I called them immediately. One company lowered my interest rate below what it had previously been. The other did not, and I paid it off and did not use it for a while. They sent me a notice a recently that my credit limit had been increased and the rate had been reduced (back to what it had been previously, of course).

The link below has a synopsis of the new rules that will take effect next year.
Those companies you listed at non profits

All of those companies you listed are non profits as described and accepted by the IRS.

I'm afraid you're going to be out of luck with your animal rescue lady, unless she reorganizes as a non profit, or makes you officially part of the company.

But, DON'T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.  Check with your tax person, or if you can't reach her, find another tax person.  Call H&R Block.  There may be some loopholes that you can use to get the deduction.

On the internet I always do this...
I go to "Page" then "text size" then select "largest."  It doesn't work on most pages, but it makes Google much larger, which definitely makes it much easier to read.  That's all I can tell you though.  I don't know how to make it zoom permanently.
Look on internet about --sm
Synthroid. There are all kinds of comments on there about how ineffective it is for SOME people why are hypothyroid. It also has a very short shelf life and what you get may be old and not help you much. I much prefer Armour thyroid, as it also has T3 hormone in it, where Synthroid does not. A lot of docs who do not know much about hypothyroidism say that you don't need T3, but my feelings are that if the body makes it, you need it for something, whether the doctors think so or not. The same goes for T1 and T2. Armour is not the answer to everything. I don't believe any supplement can fully make up for what your body can't produce any longer, but it helps more than Synthroid does. Only you can tell after you have been taking the medication for a while. Listen to your body and not what some doctors tell you or what other people tell you. Watch your symptoms and see how well the medication relieves those. Do some research on your own, as well. Some doctors do not think this is a very serious problem and kind of poo-poo what you tell them. They also just give you a pill and think you will be okay. That is not always the case.
sorry - Only helps the big formula companies make $.
Toddler nursing is a normal! The criticism of a 22 month old breastfeeding is just a reflection of people's anti-breastfeeding attitudes.
Not so much by unknowns but by my own credit card companies,
all foreign people, trying to sell me the credit protection. The last one called me for around 10 days straight (unknown # on the ID)until I finally answered! I told them all to put me on THEIR "do not call list" or I'd cancel the card. Seems to have worked. ;)
Sounds like offshore companies.....aren't

millions called their cable/tv companies...

There are companies that specialize in refacing cabinets
Veneer is tricky stuff to work with. If none of it is chipped off, you might be able to glue it back down. But if it's chipped, there's not a whole lot you can do except use wood filler to fill in the gap and paint all the cabinets.
Yes that angers me, but are your companies not categorizing it correctly? sm
My DH gets bonuses from time to time and they are tax free. I always thought gifts and bonuses were just that, nontaxable, not to mention the tax write off for the company contributing or did that change somewhere over the years?
I agree - insurance companies are in it for big bucks (sm)
Even if they made the obese pay extra they wouldn't give the rest of us a discount anyway. Who are you kidding? Do you really think they are on our side any more than the pharmaceutical companies? Do you know much about managed care and how it affects our industry? Insurance companies make a mint and they try to share as little of it as possible.
Pharmaceutical companies have lobbyists in Washington
and there job is to make the company wealthier at it appears any cost.

Israel's #1 export is pharmaceuticals. 4th is weapons.

Conspiracies to make men richer are nothing new. Medications are sold at a fraction of the price to other countries but in the U.S., the patients' cost is enormous comparatively speaking.

Medicare plan D or K, whatever it was that provided pharm. co. with an increase in medicare payments to drug companies approved by Bush is an example of why govt and pharm. co. do not have the patient's best interests at heart.

Internet shopping

Does anyone else who works from home use the internet for most of their shopping or to surf the web during work?  I had a MT service owner who complained to me that he had a hard time getting his "girls" to work since implementing the internet - that they spent their work time on QVC or HSN.  I never thought about going to other sites (other than for references) while working, but apparently this is a big pull for some of us - I just can't imagine having time to shop while trying to work.

Go to Soapcity on the internet

and it will give you a daily update.  Nick will probably not show up for at least another week or so.  When they wrote in his death he hadn't resigned with the shot yet and they write most of the storylines about 4-6 week in advance.

Internet usage
From what I have read, their policy relates to donwloads, says it is equal to downloading 4 full-length videos per day before it is considered"excessive usage." I asked my employer about it and was told it would not affect us as all we do is exchange info with our servers. So unless you do a lot of actual dowloading, it should have no effect.
Talking over the Internet
My daughter's got a friend who is in Russia for the summer.  I've heard there's a program you can download that lets you talk over the Internet using a web cam and a head set, and you can circumvent long-distance phone charges.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Thanks!
Talking over the internet
I would Google "Magic Jack" and "Skype". Those are 2 that I know of. Magic Jack is easy to install on your computer and costs either $39.95 or $19.95 PER YEAR. I believe skype is free. I have a couple friends that use Magic Jack and love it.
I have a friend who does this regularly. I am on-call for a few companies locally and sm
am awaiting my next assignment. For the poster below who stated if it's too good to be true...This is a very legitimate business, not a whole lot of money to be made, but legit and fun too. You just have to write down every single thing you've witnessed and check off boxes if a survey is included in the shopping and/or eating experiment.
WalMart also contracts out companies they know hire illegals. There was

not too long ago.

No wonder more companies are hiring people from India, at least they work.
.
You just nailed it. Companies hire illegal immigrants.

internet love scams

My dad passed away almost a year ago, and my mother was devastated.  They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in a few more months.  Dad passed in April 2006 and their anniversary was in June.  My mom went through many emotions, understandably so, shock, anger, depression, anger, depression, anger....You get the picture.  Anyway, a few months ago she started playing around with online "dating" services where she met many people but how can you know anyone is who they say they are online?  Anyway, she "met" several men friends, and they were all younger.  My mother is almost 71 but she only goes for the younger men profiles.  I don't know why she won't be realistic and seek out someone closer to her age.  I've tried to tell her that she needs to be realistic and younger men (I'm talking men in their 40s and 50s) can only possibly want one thing from an older woman, and that would be money.  My mother has no money but she doesn't let these guys know this.  She has met many men, and during a "relationship" with each one she just knew "this was the one."  Then something would happen to "break them up."  I don't know what happens between them, and I don't see their conversations, but I do know that my mother takes everything for face value, i.e., when they tell her they love her, she believes them!  Now this is only 2 days of talking via IM that the guy says he loves my mother.  To make a long story short, her latest claimed to be only 47 years old.  After 2 days he told her he loved her.  He also told her he was German and needed American citizenship and asked her to marry him.  She was SO excited.  You can't believe how happy she was.  At that point my sister and I started doing some investigating and found out this guy has several different profiles using different names, different age, different height/weight, but was crazy enough to use the same picture for each one, the one he sent my mother, that's how we "caught" him.  He had her believing everything he said.  He promised her everything in the world.  But he would never give her his phone # or address.  He was very evasive, always avoiding giving any information.  My mother gave him her address though!  My sister and I couldn't believe she did that!  He sent her a pair of slippers, a size 10!!!  He didn't ask her size, just sent her some blue slippers, size 10.  She told him they were too big and he told her he would wear them, that she could just send them to him.  This is just all so bizarre to my sister and I, but my mother STILLdoesn't see the harm in it.  We finally told her the information we found and she was very upset, but still tending not to believe us.  But before this guy happened, actually there was one before him who wrote mom for about 2 weeks, then said he was going to take a business trip to Afica and taking his 6-year-old son with him.  After he was "gone" for about 3 days he IM'd my mother and told her he needed $600 to feed his child.  My mother refused (thank goodness) and he got angry and asked her if she wanted his child to starve in Africa.  He then told her if she would send him $2500 he could fly home to see her.  They'd never met. He claimed to live in NC.  This was before the one above who sent her the slippers.  You would have thought she would have learned her lesson with the 'africa' guy, but she didn't.  She STILL believes this guy's name was really what he said it was and she still believes he went to Africa on a business trip and that he has a 6-year-old son.  So I think she still believes this other guy is who he said he was, but she was so upset that she said she wasn't going to go near her computer for several days.  This was yesterday morning.  By yesterday afternoon she was back on and chatting with ANOTHER younger man who told her he lives in Pennsylvania.  He's in his 50s.  What can I do to help her understand that there are REAL scammers out there?  She gets very angry with me and my sister and tells us she's 70 years old, she thinks she can take care of herself.  But she is also very naive about worldly matters which is obvious because she believes everything these people are telling her.  I know i"ve jumped around and back and forth with this information, I'm just very frustrated and scared for my mother.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

remember you have RECONNECTED via internet.....

Unless, of course, you're looking to maximally change your life after 41 years...........and all will be affected..........

Remember, it's a rarity about going backwards in life...and you *think* you're in love via the web........wait til you see him and nothing is as you were told..........

and why is he STAG now after 41 years?  hmmmm?  *curious question that requires no answer to me at least*

best of luck but don't hold your breath..........I HAVE met people from online...........tis really better in REAL TIME, ya know?!

internet love scams
I have another question about my mother's situation.  If she gets married again (I hope that isn't going to happen, at least not for a long time), she now gets my dad's benefits since he passed, but if she were to remarry doesn't that kick her benefits from SS back down to her previous amount that she was getting before my dad passed?  Back to the marriage thing, I don't mind if she remarries at all, just as long as she meets someone and they have time to get to know each other, and hopefully not some online love scam that he's just out for her money.  We just want her to be happy.  Thanks again y'all.
How much does it cost you for TV, Internet and Phone
I'm around $190.00 ;-(

No cell phones please...

Oh and who do we have.

Phone: Verizon
Internet: CableVision
TV: CableVision
happy ex-internet dater

I am lucky...I never thought I would use an internet site for dating but I was bored one day and tried it. I met someone by chance and never thought anything would come of it, he lived in the Northeast and I lived in the South so I thought it improbable....turns out we immediately it it off, had everything in common and it was like I couldnt have made a list of the things that I wanted that would fit more perfectly.  I'm happy to say we have been living together a year and a half and we both couldnt be happier.  There are a lot of crazy people out there so just be careful how you handle anything internet related. All stories arent as happy as mine!!

My internet address bar disappeared . . .

all I have is Google and mywebsearch.  Anybody know how to get it back?

Thanks

When calling up my internet yesterday
playing over and over and over the picture of this mad man in different poses. I can understand why so many of the family and friends upset today with the media. Hubs made mention of every channel playing but I just keep watching fluff and not because I didn’t care, just because I know my heart and it would just break too much. The television channels were wrong in the fact they allowed this thing to have his 15 minutes.
My, my..what interesting info on the Internet.
Just on a whim, I googled my ex's name (which also happens to be our son's name).  Lo and behold, something popped up which had me giggling like mad - my son's name and his long-time girlfriend & mother of his son - under marriage licenses.  They had gotten married on his birthday about 6-7 weeks ago, and never told me!
The internet is such a wonderful resource...
