It was a private nurse that found her - was the nurse - sm
hers or the baby's? Why have a private nurse in the first place? Seems a bit odd.
I know a man that is a registered sex offender
because he felt up his step-daughter one time and his wife reported him. He could not be around children until he completed some classes for sex offenders. His wife chose to stay with him and sent the daughter to live with her grandmother.
I have been registered voter since 1972....sm
I have had a driver's license since 1975, registered voter since 1972.  They NEVER called me to jury duty until I started voting in minor elections/primaries in my 50s!!!  Hence, I believe they do NOT necessarily use driver's licenses but use the voters info voting in primaries and other elections.  I suppose in some states they may very well use drivers...but in my state (Florida) I think it's different.
Depends how advanced it is, but
soaking the foot is a first step. Then the skin may be soft enough to push down to see if there is a spike of nail growing into the skin. I think they call these spicules. They are hard to see, but using a metal nail file and pressing the skin down, they can often be detected and removed. File it off if possible, attempting not to cut the skin.

I once had one when I was a child that I had to see the pediatrician for. I think it had to be drained and everything, which didn't cause much pain since it itched a lot. But I had to elevate my foot and got to stay home from school. Loved it.
Advanced Directives ?

A friend and I were talking about Advanced Directives.  Obviously, we both signed them long ago, but in a case where the doctor's office is closed, hospital closed, etc., how do they obtain that info on relatively short notice?

I told her I wasn't really sure, so would ask y'all.  We both realize that anytime a procedure or surgery is done we sign it again (don't we?!), but in a case where it's been a long time, it seemed like a good thing to know.

Thanks!

My german shepard has the number one name Max - but it is short for his registered name Max-in-a-mil
My Rott is Rock Haus

and last but not least I had to snakes male and a female named Felony and Miss Demeanor.

Oh and my Bichon is Mandolyn Lee
I never had a child in advanced classes, but IMO if she
the rush? Let her drop it, 9th grade taking a 12th grade class? there is no shame in taking later IMO. I think sometimes parents and the kids themselves push to hard to advance the child before they are ready.
That's the way the advanced classes are run here in New York State
She took 9th grade classes last year and she's taking 10th grade classes this year with the exception of the science classes where they bump you up to 12th grade. She's also taking geometry and loves it so far. (As the school year goes on things may change).
This was how I was rasied and I still practice this value

go to Wednesday's practice day if you can
I went to a tourny in Atlanta and aside from the Saturday and Sunday play, my favorite was Wednesday when they got to practice.

By Saturday I figured out that instead of following one set of players from hole to hole, it was better to pick a hole I liked and sat there all day. That way, I got to see every player. I think it was the 16th hole, almost 400 yards, big dog leg to the right, so I sat in the crook where I could see the tee and the first strokes landed the balls right in front of me. I wasn't that far from the restrooms and a snack shop, either :)

Lots of fun. Hope you enjoy yourself! I hope to be a volunteer at a tourney next year just to be closer to the activities and personalities.
It depends on the practice (sm)
I chose mine very carefully because frankly I believe some of the chiros out there are in it to hook you for the money with their visit and payment plans. So go on the recommendation of a trusted friend if you can.

When I went the first time, yeah, he took xrays and a history before any treatment, and his treatment consisted of a couple times a week for a month, then rapidly tapered down to "come in when you feel like you need it." Good luck!
Unfair Practice
Please, please beware of Transcription At Its Best, which is really Synthescribe, a not so stable company. The company will operate and function under different names for a short while, and then will fire everyone the day before payday, and change the way it pays employees.
My 17 yo son has hockey practice
3 nights a week so he really is too busy for socializing except on weekends so that works for me. I like knowing where he is and what he's doing during the week.
If you do it yourself, practice on some scrap wood a few
s
yes, you can practice by trying to pick up a towel (sm)
with your toes.  Rather than doing the bending back and stretching, which I eventually started to think was actually aggravating my fasciitis, bend your toes under like you are going to pick something up with your foot.
I really do like the doctor, but I'm not sure I'll stay with the practice.
It's a large practice with several ophthalmologists. I was seeing the only optometrist, and I believe his schedule tends to back up. I've ordered my contacts through this office, but I'll probably check out another practice for the next appointment.
I tried to tell the nurse
no thanks, I don't want to weigh today, but she pestered me nonstop - come on, just get on the scale, oh come one, we need to weigh you, hop up there, on and on and wouldn't just walk me to the freakin room until I just gave in to save the embarrassment in front of everyone passing by....
nope not a gyn, family practice. gosh, i don't know why i am so nervous.......sm
maybe cuz i grew up very poor and just nervous about what to wear, how to act, where we are going, etc. and will i fit in. best part of the story is i was the one who posted about a month ago about getting out of a horrible relationship with an addict/abuser and wanting to stay single so i have had a hard life with a horrible man and this is my first date since single. yes, a little too soon i agree, but i can't pass the opportunity to go out with a doctor and he will IM me in between seeing pts and it is so funny and he is so sweet. he'll just pop up and say what kinda report you typing on now, you having a good day, etc. maybe at least it will make him think twice when he is dictating, LOL.
cheerios. taget practice might sound gross but it has always worked for me.

I have taken care of and have potty trained a lot of little boys over the years all starting before 2 and the best thing I found was putting cheerios in the toilet and having them try to shoot the cheerios, like target practice.  I have also used fruit loops and made a game of which color they could hit.  Anything that floats and is flushable is fair game.  They love the game and always want to go potty.

If it is warm where you live a few days going pee outside works too.  They can go when they want, do it themselves and learn how to control their urges quickly.

On the other hand, #2 for most boys I have found is harder.  They usualy hold it for too long and need to get their bowels on a regular cycle.  I have had a couple boys up until 4 hold it all day long and then go home and their mother would put a diaper on them so they would go and then want to be changed right away.  As soon as the mothers stopped that though the child went to the potty fine.  I would recomend talking with his doctor if that happens.

Good Luck!!!  It will happen when he is ready.

But this is not a school-wide accepted teaching practice, it is individual (nm)

When I worked as a nurse (sm)
There was this CNA who would open up the windows every time someone would die. I thought she was kooky (for many reasons), but she said it was to release the spirit of the person.

I'm not superstitious, but I won't eat beans more than 3 days in a row.
Do you have ask a nurse in your area?
I don't believe this is mental illness... it could be something else. In my area, you can call the local hospital's ask a nurse for free advice, and believe me they are there not to get more business, but to give good medical advice in case you need to really see someone. Bipolar is different. SOunds like getting older mixed with stress. I know I am that age with small children and I forget my glasses are on my head! But you definitely should seek medical advice because he might have a form of dementia, not necessarily Alzheimer, but maybe something which can take medication, vitamins, or a certain type of balanced diet with stress training. Good luck!
Mean nurse story
Had to share this story of a mean nurse.  My aunt went in the hospital for a total hip replacement.  She had the surgery and the following morning she was in bed sleeping.  Her nurse came in and asked if she would like a sponge bath for her back.  My aunt said no, I just took a shower before I came in last night and I'm in a lot of pain and would prefer to not even be touched.  The nurse said of course she understood and asked if there was anything she could get her (pain meds, water, tissue, etc), my aunt said no thank you I'd just like to sleep for awhile.  About 5 minutes later the supervising nurse came in and said to my aunt "you need to have a sponge bath".  My aunt said I already told the nurse I don't want one.  I just showered before I came in yesterday.  The supervising nurse said "I don't care, you're going to get one whether or not you like it.  Grab the side rails on the bed and roll onto your side".  My aunt said she was screeming in so much pain she knew the people down the hallway could hear her.  I was absolutely horrified to hear that a nurse could treat a patient so bad.  My aunt ended up reporting her to her doctor and her doctor was mortified that a nurse would do that to a patient.  Especially since my aunt had just taken a shower less than 24 hours before that.  I wish I lived closer to her and if I was there at the time I would have given this lady a piece of my mind.  I don't know what happened to the nurse.  Hopefully she was transferred somewhere where she will have no patient contact - maybe the mortuary would be a good place for her!  I don't care if a nurse or someone who has contact with patients are having a bad day or what.  That is no excuse to treat a patient like that.
Get asked if I am a nurse
I've had several contacts with doctors who don't know me when taking my daughter to urgent care and also when I was in the hospital recently for surgery, and in talking with them about medical issues, they invariably ask me if I'm a nurse. I guess I sound like I know enough to be a nurse, but not enough to be a doctor, as they never ask if I am a doctor, LOL!
Sicko to nurse a kid until they go to school,
poor kid.....
Being a wet nurse and breast-feeding a 6 yo
Competely different. I have been a wet nurse. I have several children. I've been a gestational surrogate. I have NOT, however, breast feed a 6-year-old. That is disgusting.
Awww...what a good nurse you are! Will say

No, Cybil the baby's nurse
is my niece. She reported this on Facebook this morning as she worked in the ICU. I thought I should post it as she requested to get the word out.
Local news story about nurse in ER SM

who was supposed to give patient 800 mg of Dilantin for a seizure and gave her 8000 mg instead, causing cardiac arrest.

The drug came in vials and she had to round up every vial on the floor to give this dose, never questioning it.

Mistakes happen, but this is just too bizarre.

I was under the impression they would have you nurse till the child is 5.

Mylanta - our doctor's nurse recommended (sm)

You can dab it on the spots.  Also what works for us - depends on her age (you may have said, I missed it) is Campho-Phenique - it is not made for that necessarily and doesn't taste great but works well to take the sting out of any kind of mouth sores.

I hate those things- a nurse told me
when I asked about them at a doctor visit that obese people get them. I don't get the connection but have found that since I have lost about 70 pounds while I am still overweight the skin tags seem have gone away.
I know, I also feel so sorry for the nurse who administered the meds (nm)

I'm a volunteer nurse at the free clinic
I do medical transcription for money and nursing for free. I've been a nurse since 2001, and I sometimes miss people! Unfortunately, since I've upped my hours at work, I haven't been able to volunteer for the last couple of months.

Doing the free clinic is not like actual nursing work in that there's no backstabbing and pettiness, just appreciation. It's scary, though, knowing what medical problems people have been having for days and have to wait for the free clinic day because they couldn't afford the doctor's office (or the hospital). However, the doctors who do volunteer have the free clinic patients come to their real clinic for free if they have an issue that can't be addressed at the church where the free clinic is located, like drainage of a cyst or something.

Anyway, I wish I had more time for it. *sigh*
Don't have to be a nurse to be a good scheduler, efficient office manager....sm
When I did this type of thing in addition to clinical duties, I knew from common sense that the doc could only see X amount of people, depending on if they were new patients, involved visits with procedures, etc, and planned accordingly. The doctors want to pack the schedule to make more money, and the "girls" (How I hated being called that "my girl") had to go along with it in many cases. But when I was office manager, I made sure I spaced accordingly, because guess who got to leave the office as soon as the last patient (the doctor), and guess who got to clean up examining rooms, clear up doctor's desk, answer all nonessential phone calls for them, close down the office, etc....me! The one making chump change.
Our old OB head nurse had to talk one lady out of naming her daughter Vagina, said she kept hearing

Followup to unfair practice and followup
This goes along with my first post. None of my references have ever told me they were contacted. That is just a waste of time and energy. I don't know why these companies lead you on. I would just love to find a stable company.
