All I have is empathy.

Kids just say what is on their minds.  I don't think other adults should get so offended over what a little kid said but also I do think as parents we should somehow teach them that they don't have to tell all or make it a point to bring out embarrassing features.   My 5 yo asked why I have hair on my face right in front of dh.  DH acted like he did not hear.  Also my 5 year old told me I was fat. I am, 210.   I told her how sometimes making comments about a person can hurt them. If she did not have anything nice to say she shouldn't say anything. 

Also, my 5 yo and I do rough house.  I give her piggy back rides.  SHe will climb in my back while I am on my hands and knees.  I really enjoy playing with the girls like that.  My dad and mom both did it with me when I was little.    However, my 5 yo  tried to climb on my 73 yo MIL back and she has also jumped right in the middle of MIL.  I had to explain to her that with grannies she needs to be gentler.  She cannot play with granny like she does mommy.
