We had them in my 5th grade class (teacher had a whole little zoo for us). Went to somebody's house when I was 12, went to pick up their guinea pig, and I asked the boy to go get his mother please. He was younger, and I didn't know what he knew about reproduction. He went to get his mom, and I asked if she knew that the guinea pig was pregnant. She didn't! So I had to suggest they get another cage for the daddy pig so he wouldn't eat the babies, because I remembered that was a problem with the mice we had in class. I was afraid the kid's mother would be upset, but she was very excited they were going to have piggy babies, and of course her sons were thrilled too. They arrived a day or 2 later, so they found out just in time.
