Just did some laundry
Tonight just relaxing, my husband's making his famous chill. My daughter is having a friend over to watch a movie. Tomorrow a little work to do, but otherwise nothing special planned for this weekend.
Yes, they are basically against everyone but themselves I think (nm)

Laundry
I am thinking about getting a clothes line and hanging clothes outside this summer.  The only reason why I never have in the past is because I have numerous allergies and usually try to keep the "outside" out.  With the cost of everything rising and after reading an article about the cost-saving/energy-saving of not running a dry cycle on your dishwasher and hanging clothes outside to dry I want to considering it.  Does anyone here have allergies and hang their clothes outside?  I am thinking that I could tumble them through the dryer before folding and that might help.
Basically the same as we always have
Swimming in our pool, visiting friends, eating outside on our deck. We go out to dinner every Saturday with friends to get a break from the kids, and this weekend we're going to our local Balloonfest so not much driving involved. Luckily everything is pretty close by and we usually only spend approximately $80 a week on gas for two cars.
Somewhat set schedule
I work in the a.m. and then don't work until after my chidren are in bed. One is in school all day, the other is starting two full days of preschool next week. Right nor that means working usually until 4:00 a.m. since I also have another part-time non-medical transcription job, but it works well for me. I've been doing it for years. I also use called ID and wait to do my housework until the afternoon and have my older daughter help when she gets home.
Actually I wish we had some of your schedule...sm
school starts here in early August - I'd prefer it be closer to Labor Day and get out in early June.

Do you have a specific laundry soap that you buy or just whatever's on sale?

Powder or liquid?

With bleach or not?

Looking for a new laundry scent...

I am currently using Gain - Mandarin Lime Fusion, which is awesome, but have been using it a while now and the smell is starting to fade.  Taking a poll on your favorite scent...

Laundry Detergent
Simple Pleasures Lavender Vanilla (by Tide) - I buy the dryer sheets too.  I love to smell it on my sheets!  It doesn't really smell like lavender or vanilla, sort of a pleasant cross between the two, or something.  They have one with roses too, which I love, but I don't care for the scent of that soap, it is too "off" or something.  My husband doesn't even mind and he is a truck driver!  He says the Lavender Vanilla smells pretty "fresh" and good.  Lucky, because I would still use it and have to listen to him whine if he didn't like it!  My little grandson likes it too and asks to have his jammas washed in it.
You go girl on the laundry....sm
both of our kids know to not even breathe to us that they have dirty clothes as they know how to use the washing machine & dryer and how to use them. It's up to them to do their laundry and clean their bathroom, not me!
This is basically what I have been doing the last few years (sm)
But I don't think he is just going to go away...he has a good job, 401K, and we have a lot of equity in our home...in other words, I would cost to much for him to leave. Even if he has another woman that he is all excited about, the money is very important to him. But basically I have started doing my own thing, not calling him, etc. He has been upset saying that I don't even miss him when he has been gone..he takes all these trips and then we are supposed to have a big party for him every time he comes home. Well, we've been married 14 years - he leaves because he wants to be gone, so I am not going to throw a big party for him every time he comes home.
Well put? It was basically unintelligible...
.
Hang out your laundry if possible
Start hanging your wash out rather than using the dryer. It will save big, not those pennies they claim you'll save by unplugging your toaster. (By the way, my son, an electrical engineer, claims unplugging your toaster saves nothing. Unplugging a coffee maker if it has a clock does save a little.)

Basically you are saying you are not trusting him
now, even before he moves in permanently, otherwise you would not be, as you state, paranoid about his cell phone. Trust is upmost important in a relationship. If you don't have that, it is really doomed from the start. Been married almost 10 years now and never have checked a cellphone, email, nothing that pertains to my husband. I think women sometimes have an extra sense so to say and they know when something is up. Maybe that is what is happening with you. In my case, I have never had 1 minute of worrying about him. In another relationship I knew before I saw or heard. Called women's intuition.
Schedule with kids
I was in the same position. After a lot of years I figured out what works pretty good for me, and my company allows it, so does the hospital.
I put my son to bed. I often nap then until about 1 or 2 a.m. Then, I work until 6:30 or 7 a.m. (already got 5 hours in!). I take him to school, and in the morning if I am not tired, I will run errands, work on the house, do something fun. I usually take a nap around noon and then I will work after he is done with his homework from 4:30 to 6:30 (my hubby makes dinner).. that is 7 hours plus 1 hour off for lunch. I also then work on the weekend a few hours to get 40 when I need it, but that is usually in the early morning, so I can spend some time with my husband. Plus I get to spend time with him anway, and after he falls asleep, then I work. It sounds very complicated but it really isn't. And you actually get time for yourself at least to relax for a time, instead of working 8 hours straight and then chores and kids, etc.
Good luck! Remember it is tough to be a woman who does too much :).

People who file a return after April 15 will receive their economic stimulus payment, but probably later than the schedule shows. A return must be filed by October 15 in order to receive a stimulus payment this year. See the online calculator for an estimate of the amount you will receive.

A small percentage of tax returns will require additional time to process and to compute a stimulus payment amount. For these returns, stimulus payments may not be issued in accordance with the schedule above, even if the tax return was processed by April 15.

My schedule and my work -
Thankfully, until the last couple of months, I have never had to wait on work. In fact, my budget is set on 2000 lines a day which was my consistent production in a 6-hour schedule. If my schedule was based on the 1000 lines or so a day the company requires, I would not be waiting on work to be there, I would still be at production.

As far as going to school, in my life right now, that is a necessity as the stress of MTing is finally getting me down after the 15+ years I have been doing it. Also, I am lucky enough that I live in a state that college is completely free to me as long as I maintain a B average. So it would be no savings to me to quit.

Also, I got the second job to cover the shortage from the first job until it picks up again after the holidays. However, I am used to making $35-40 an hour at home and the new job only pays $14 an hour, plus I have to drive 30 minutes to get there and 30 minutes to get home now.

So, as I said before, I am doing what I can do!

My little one did this, too! Took days of using laundry detergent to get rid of

She has basically admitted that the swats
are no punishment, so if you don't make her do the suspension for the 5 tardies, she will have no punishment for it at all, and thus it will probably continue.  She'll just take the swats each time.  You'll have to sign the paper for it this time and then they'll have it on file and won't ask you about it for further incidents.  (BTW, I've got nothing against spanking, but only by a parent in this day and age, and certainly not a 14-year-old.)  If she is really concerned about her grade, she'll get to class on time after this suspension.
How I make my own laundry soap. . sm
The basic ingredients are Borax, Washing Soda, and Fels Naptha. You could also use Ivory soap instead of the Fels Naptha. I also use the Fels Naptha to get out stains by wetting the fabric and rubbing the Fels Naptha directly on the stain.

I really like the laundry soap, but it did take a little while to get used to it. It doesn't make hardly any suds and I was worried about whether or not it was doing a good job of cleaning. My DH is very picky, especially about laundry soap. I didn't even tell him I was making my own soap, and he didn't notice! I do put a little bleach (about 2 tablespoons) in with my towels because they never smelled fresh. I had to do this even when I used Tide or Era. We have well water, and our water has an odor sometimes. When I first started using this laundry soap, I would only use it for clothes that weren't heavily soiled. I gradually started using it for everything when I realized that it was doing a pretty good job. It is fun to make and so cheap.

I hope it is okay to post links on this website. This is where I got my recipe- http://www.thefamilyhomestead.com/laundrysoap.htm
Laundry - brightening whites
Over the weekend I went searching for bluing as discussed in the previous thread.  No luck finding it so far but have a few more small, independently owned stores to check.  However, I did find a whitening agent in the Rit dye section.  A little pricey, $2.00 something for 1 load.  It worked well on T-shirts and clothing but for some reason it did not seem to work on my towels.  They were all in the same load I used a long cycle for it to soak also.  I'll see how long the white T's last.  Oh, I also have well water and a softener system if anyone is wondering.
I keep mine in the laundry room also
I also have a fat kitty who LOVES to get in there and pretend he's at the beach. I keep a tiny dustpan and broom in there and probably sweep 3 times a day. Sometimes there will be a huge pile of cat litter. Considering he's an indoor kitty and can't seem to find anything else to do, I just let him be and ask him if he had fun!

I like the liquid but have a terrible time finding the Arm & Hammer wash SODA.
Basically just lost my son when he married into
my DIL's family. Just sucked him clear in. No time for our side of the family after that, not his g'parents, his maternal side, aunts, uncles, cousins, no one. It was all her side that mattered. I got charged for any work around the home I needed done by my son, he did her family's for free. I tried to be there but never barged into their lives and now not in their lives at all. I do not worry about things anymore, no use in it and just try to work and live my life to my liking. His marriage just kicked me to the curb and it used to hurt but not anymore. I have accepted I do not play a part in my son's life nor his childrens.
Do you fix a schedule and work to it at home?
Do you fix a schedule and work to it at home?
If you are working from home like me, housework always seems to interrupt work. The doorbells, the children, the cups of tea etc etc.
I have tried working to a schedule but never managed to do so.

Have a set schedule, no kids, use caller ID...
I'm off by 2 every day, hubby not home until 7, so lots of time to do house stuff or go to appointments. I admire those of you who work at home, tend to kids, housework, etc.
Wow Medtype10--that is a crazy schedule!
How in the heck are you doing THAT?!  You are incredibly amazing for doing that to help out DIL out like that.  Can you say "angel award?!"  Just incredible!
Fibro and work schedule
Hi. I noticed several people have fibro. I constantly fight with the pain and fatigue. I work only part time. How do others of you schedule your work and deal with the pain and fatigue. I need some good suggestions. Thanks.

Poor sleep schedule.
I haven't really had a good night of sleep since I had kids 11 years ago, but man am I tired!  I can't decide whether to just give up and work all night and try and sleep while the kids are at school during the day or maybe start a sleeping pill, and I'm not a big medicine person.  Right now I sleep from about 2-3 a.m to 6:30-7:30 a.m.   I do go to the kids school every so often during the day so I'd hate to be all tired for that but I'm so tired I'm starting to get that drunk feeling.  Anyone with kids work nights and sleep during the day?  Can you wake up enough to participate in school activites?
As an IC, I don't think they are allowed to have you on a set schedule. Other companies have
gotten in legal trouble because they were treating ICs as employees. With my IC job, I let them know when I can work and, if they need extra help, they will call and ask if I can do more, but they do not TELL me when to work.
checked the schedule, even filled out the
other info from my tax return.
I work too many hours to have a TV schedule BUT
My daughter was visiting from college during winter break and downloaded The Office. I didn't watch at first, just heard it while I was doing other things... but I just was drawn to watch. So when I finished 10 hours of work, we'd watch like 5 or 6 in a row. I'm almost caught up and this show is just SO funny to me.

So that's it. My favorite show to watch is THE OFFICE. Can't believe no one said it yet.
My work schedule, so I changed it sm
I went to something odd at work and I think it will serve us both. As the new schedule starts on Monday, I will have from Saturday at 2 p.m. until Wednesday at 2 p.m. off this weekend and I NEED IT. Then I work 2 evenings, two 10-hour days, an 8-hour day and I am off from 2 p.m. Sunday to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Now to fit the PT job in and around that and still have more time off.

I have some health issues that basically prohibit
a lot of the things I mentioned, bending, stooping, cleaning, etc. and I can afford to have someone and why should I not? Oh, by the way there is a lot of time she watches television, I do not mind and I pay her per hour more than I make an hour so I think for 4 hours here is a good pay. The thing was I only had 1 pair of panties (I felt should wear to an appointment this morning, knew exactly where I put them and they were not there.) If you knew how much I gave her, not only money but have bought her grandkids things at Christmas, given her clothing, lots of things when she asked, then you would understand about why I am upset she stole something from me. I buy clothing and then do not like and give her brand new things with the tags still on them so I have a right to be upset about someone stealing.
I was disappointed in the group last night basically
No one really grabbed me like I would like them to. Adam was okay but I am just not into him as well. The group overall had none of the zing felt with the first group. Oh, well, I think there is a brand new group next week, isn't that so and how many more groups are there?
How many of you are making the homemade laundry soap?
I just did this week and I love it. Its going to save so much on laundry detergent. I'm very happy with the results.

HOMEMADE LAUNDRY DETERGENT

Ingredients:
3.1 oz bar Ivory soap or 2 regular bar sizes(Ivory is chosen because it's all natural. You may use a soap of your choice)
1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax

½ cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda or Baking Soda (I used baking soda since I couldn't find the washing soda)
Water

Tools:

5 Gallon container
Knife
Pot large enough to hold 5 cups of water
Long stirring stick/spoon (for 5 gallon container)

Instructions:

Shave the soap into small strips or grate it up finely with a grater and place in the pot with 5 cups of water. Bring the water just shy of a boil and stir until the soap is completely melted. When the soap is just about melted, pour 3 gallons of hot water into the 5-gallon container and let it sit until the soap in the pot is totally melted. Once all of the soap shavings are melted, pour the mixture into the 5-gallon container and stir.

Once the soap and water are thoroughly stirred, add the ½ cup pf washing soda and stir until dissolved. Once the washing soda is dissolved, pour in the cup of borax and stir again until dissolved.

***You can add essential oil flavors for the smell but I prefer without.

My SIL makes it this way and the meat basically falls off of the bone.
I know that once she gets the pork seasoned, she puts in a small roasting pan and then sets it in a "bano maria" at 250 degrees like for 10-12 hours depending on the size. I will see if I can get the recipe from her. As far as the seasoning, it all depends which way you want it, for Cuban style mojo seasoning, it can be bought already made in a bottle at the grocery's store in the international food section, probably Goya brand. Then, there is the other seasoning with the oregano, salt, vinegar, garlic, black pepper, and olive oil.
I was off today and pretty much was a slug all day. I did 2 loads of laundry,
I never do that, but it sure felt good at the moment.  Of course, tonight, I spent some time in the bathroom...what goes in, must come out I guess.
Old part-timer - the laundry soap recipe

I found this online and it's the closest to my own recipe.  It also includes the directions and the pricing comparisons included are also very similar to prices in my area.

The only difference is, in my part of the country, Arm & Hammer wash soda isn't common on the store shelves and I have to order it online.

Since one of the kiddos is sensitive to perfumes, I will sometimes divide part of one batch into a couple of smaller bottles and add a drop or two of lavender essential oils just for the master bathroom towels and bedsheets.

The love of my life does all the cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping etc..

He even has decorated the house with Christmas villages, lights etc.., wrapped all the presents, even his own..LOL (I did put them in brown boxes). I'm sorry but I sit here all day working..he can do something. I know how lucky I am. Going from being a single mom to this has been heaven. For every dream I had, it was answered by him. I shouldn't brag..but...last year he took me on 3 cruises..and it just never stops. So kudos to all of you who have a wonderful man in your life. Lord knows they are few and far in between..

I have been making my own laundry soap. It only costs me about $10 for a 6-month supply. nm

Update: I am waiting for doc to schedule an abdominal CT for me - sent my husband a message saying
that they will be scheduling me for a CT today or tomorrow. His answer: 10-4, I hope you get your health in order. Exercise please.

I am having abdominal pain, back pain, bleeding, etc. but I guess if I exercise it will fix all that.

I did a lot of research! Basically, I scoured the public notices in the local paper. SM

You know, the ads that say a certain property will be auctioned off on the courthouse steps on a certain day at a certain time.  Well, I learned quickly that just because you've read the public notice does not mean the property will actually get sold when advertised.  Like the person said below, a lot of times the owners rehab and pay back payments right at the last second.  The trustee selling the property is usually an attorney hired by the bank or mortgage company that hold the loan on the property.  You can call the attorneys and find out if a propert is still being auctioned off which I did a number of times.  Once you find out who holds the mortgage, you can contact the bank or mortgage company directly and make an offer.

For my particular house, it was a waiting game.  They actually listed it with a real estate agent and wanted $80,000 when they first listed it.  I called the real estate agent they listed with after it had been on the market for about three months.  They were asking $60,000 at the time I looked at it.  I thought they were crazy cause it was a 2 bedroom that needed a lot of work.  Just so happened that at the time I walked through it I was stilling bickering with the insurance company over my settlement, so I wasn't quite ready.  Then, three months later I'm at the grocery store (I live in a small town and it is wonderful!) and someone was telling the cashier about a little blue house that had been for sale for a long time and nobody was interested in it because the basement was a cinder block basement which scared people off.  Anyway, long story short, the person said they were now asking $45,000 for the house.  I had just settled with the insurance company and thought nows my chance to get a great deal!

I called the mortgage company and offered them $36,000.  I low-balled because I was prepared to negotiate.  They countered with the full asking price. So I countered with a $40,000 cash offer.  I said they would be crazy not to take it because I was a cash buyer, didn't have to wait for financing, and didn't require a mechanical inspection.  My brother-in-law waterproofs and pours basements for a living.  I had him look at the basement and told me that it was a dry basement and he would get a bobcat from work and dig out the dirt around the foundation of the house and waterproof it from the outside and that should make it solid.  I have cousings who are trim carpenters and roofers, although the roof was in good shape, no leaks.  So I felt safe not having a mechanical inspection especially because I have all this help should something go bad.

The mortgage company decided to sweat me out and didn't give me an answer for two weeks.  What they didn't realize is I wasn't sweating because I thought they'd be crazy to pass me up.  My waiting paid off.  They called the Monday after the 4th of July holiday and said it's yours if you still want and I said "I do."

I bought the house As-Is.  Also this was a foreclosed property which means the owners that were foreclosed on cannot rehab the loan and take back the property.  It's mine once we close.

So that's how I did it and I can't believe I did do it because I actually felt like I didn't know anything when I started.  I just prayed a lot and feel like I had some divine intervention for sure!

I think you are taking this out of context...I originally asked about my in-laws basically coming ov
and then the issue of locking doors and security gets brought up...why is it you can't post something on these boards without it being blown out of proportion???
