Poster named 'Trying to be cheerful'....

I hope you are feeling better today!  Please let us know how you are doing....sometimes it helps to just talk, even if it's about nothing!

Take care of yourself, okay?

No wonder people say most MTs are not too bright....
that's all I can say about your comment and most of this thread. Wow.
Bright women
We started to "bud" in our blouses at 9 or 10 years old only to find that anything that came in contact with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it brought us to tears. So came the ridiculously uncomfortable training bra contraption that the boys in school would snap until we had calluses on our backs.
Next, we get our periods in our early to mid-teens (or sooner). Along with those budding boobs, we bloated, we cramped, we got the hormone crankies, had to wear little mattresses between our legs or insert tubular, packed cotton rods in places we didn't even know we had.

Our next little rite of passage was having sex for the first time which was about as much fun as having a ramrod push your uterus through your nostrils (IF he did it right and didn't end up with his little cart before his horse), leaving us to wonder what all the fuss was about.
Then it was off to Motherhood where we learned to live on dry crackers and water for a few months so we didn't spend the entire day leaning over Brother John . Of course, amazing creatures that we are (and we are), we learned to live with the growing little angels inside us steadily kicking our innards night and day making us wonder if we were preparing to have Rosemary's Baby.
Our once flat bellies looked like we swallowed a whole watermelon and we pee'd our pants every time we sneezed. When the big moment arrived, the dam in our blessed Nether Regions invariably burst right in the middle of the mall and we had to waddle, with our big cartoon feet, moaning in pain all the way to the ER.
Then it was huff and puff and beg to die while theOB says, "Please stop screaming, Mrs. Hearmeroar . Calm down and push. "Just one more good push" (more like 10), warranting a strong, well-deserved impulse to punch the %$#*@*#!* hubby and doctor square in the nose for making us cram a wiggling, mushroom-headed 10 pound bowling ball through a keyhole.
After that, it was time to raise those angels only to find that when all that "cute" wears off, the beautiful little darlings morphed into walking, jabbering, wet, gooey, snot-blowing, life-sucking little poop machines.
Then come their "Teen Years." Need I say more?

When the kids are almost grown, we women hit our voracious sexual prime in our early 40's - while hubby had his somewhere around his 18th birthday.
So we progress into the grand finale: "The Menopause," the Grandmother of all womanhood. It's either take HRT and chance cancer in those now seasoned "buds" or the aforementioned Nether Regions, or, sweat like a hog in July, wash your sheets and pillowcases daily and bite the head off anything that moves.
Now, you ask WHY women seem to be more spiteful than men, when men get off so easy, INCLUDING the icing on life's cake: Being able to pee in the woods without soaking their socks...

I think this pretty much covers the issue.

So, while I love being a woman, "Womanhood" would make the Great Gandhi a tad crabby. You think women are the "weaker sex?" Yeah right. Bite me.

Look at the bright side
You have a great story to tell - your child will enjoy hearing it when she/he gets older.  I laughed out loud when I read your post!
The MC driver was not to bright to be - sm
driving with headphones/ear buds on is not responsible driving on a motorcycle. He is lucky he got his money back at all.....you'd think you would be more careful wtih that kind of cash on you.
I use the bluing also. It makes the whites really bright. nm

Wise words, bright side....
I had a mini-meltdown several months ago when the work pretty much dried up for awhile. My SO was so very supportive and reminded me that no matter what happened, even if we ended up living in a cardboard box, we would have each other and no one could take that away from us.

I'd always been extremely strong and independent before I met him, and would struggle through things alone and silently, always hiding behind the "everything is just fine" facade to everyone I knew.

It's so nice to have someone to love and trust and turn to for support when things get rough.

Knowing that someone is waiting right there to catch you if you start to fall off the edge is something no amount of money can buy.

Hang in there, backwardstypist...Things will work out for you and your DH.
There is another bright star in animal heaven. He was a beautiful boy. NM

Forgot to say that this is one of my very favorite breeds. So bright and beautiful. NM

Doesn't offend me to hear Happy Holidays, Happy Hannuka...sm
or any way someone wants to greet me. As a basic rule, people use the greeting most comfortable to the speaker. What does burn my butt is when someone tries to tell me that my comfortable greeting of "Merry Christmas" is not appropriate. To those who are not concerned with my comfort, I have no concern for theirs.

Merry Christmas to all.

Hayseed,

That's my old outfit, darn it!   I don't miss shoveling the snow that was up to my hips and sometimes over my head.

It's really warm in Maine
For the past week, it has been in the 60s and 70s here. We haven't had to start running the heat in our house yet this year, but I'm sure we will be soon! I remember last year around this time it was freezing and we were already burning through heating oil like crazy! I just wish this weather would last...
warm and sunny
An absolutely gorgeous day here in Savannah, GA
Hot tap water - which is really very warm - sm
If it's too hot for your hands, it's too hot for the yeast.
I used mine when it is warm - sm
I had stopped using it for a while as I just did not have the time, but making the time now and trying to cut costs on the electric bill. I usually have so much laundry it all won't fit out there and I have 3 lines about 28-feet long. I generally put out everything but socks and underwear if I run out of room, otherwise it all goes out. No one can see our line not that it would matter, avg. $150 a month in the winter on the electric bill and over $200 in the summer because of AC, so every little bit helps.
me too, i get this warm fuzzy feeling,
and just lay my head down on my desk for a few...do some streches..its like...the longest days of my life.
Hmmm, rather than warm weather, could it be
menopause? I don’t have the sweating during the night. As far as the weather, my grown daughter told me one time if she had been born where there was snow (as you are talking about) as soon as she grew up she would get outta there- it is just what you prefer. I have only been snowed in twice in the past say 15 years and that is fine with me. Oh, I do enjoy the soup and salad at Olive Garden- and eat without sweating.
Need some ideas for some warm socks sm
I know, I know, it isn't even winter yet as my husband would say. It's in the 50s outside and my feet are like ice. Right now I have them buried under the heating pad. Can't use a space heater because then my room gets like 110.  Any ideas for some nice, warm, nonbinding socks as tight socks make my legs and ankles hurt and just plain drive me nuts.
Thanksgiving Warm Fuzzies!
A while back, I posted about boy named Conner who had a bone marrow transplant for NEMO. After being in the hospital in a different state than his own since August, Conner finally returned to his home and family! While he still has a very long and rocky road ahead, he is at least able to be home for Thanksgiving. If you click on the link, and scroll down, you will see the one of the most heartwarming photos of his homecoming taken by their local newspaper:

BTW, Conner is one of a set of triplets!

If you want to send Conner a hat from your state, check out the Hats for Conner site at:

There you will also find a photo of my dog Addie who absolutely hates the digital camera.
My hands are too warm, for a week or two now (sm)
Thermometer does not show a fever, but every time I touch anyone they say my hands are too hot, and they feel hot to me too, plus I just feel kind of yucky, nonspecific, but just not good.  Anyone know if this is a symptom of anything? Menopause?
How about some ideas for a warm supper?
No snow yet, but howling winds and cold with a little bit of drizzle.  Need some ideas to warm my little guys up when they get home from school.  Not big fans of soup, though.  Any other ideas?
warm supper ideas
How about some chicken and dumplings (easy) or homemade chicken pot pie?
I am not warm and fuzzy when I read something
like this. I think the person even questioning has some issues going on here. Who in their right mind gives lifts to strangers these days? Read below about woman giving rides to people on the Appalacian (spelling) trail- the same place where a lady killed - just crazy thinking to me. Why would she ask did she dodge a bullet? I do not think this person really needs to be traveling by herself if she has no more common sense than to ask such. I sat here just shaking my head, not believing what she said. Naïve.

Happy Bikrthday to me, happy birthday
Unbelievable, I have reached the age of 65- where did the years go?? I would retire but gosh, darn just love this work so much, want to keep on working. Hubs had me a delicious huge chocolate cake this morning and daughter coming over for pizza tonight, oh forgot working today also but like I said, hard to give this terrific life up, that is a life in between my working!
Have him keep his snacks out of sight, even if it means warm soda. Makes a big difference! Out in

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. Hope it is a good one. nm

Happy Birthday to you, then you can wish me a happy birthday on Friday! sm
Aquarians Rule!!!!! LOL
Most men would be happy for a new toy.
My sister got me a toy many moons ago, I named it gumby. My son was 2 at the time and found it DURING a dinner party I was having. He ran into the room waving "gumby" over his head yelling that everyone should look at this sword. My mouth hit the floor and my friends just about peed in their pants laughing. :-)
Happy 4th everyone!!! (sm)
If you're off, have a wonderful day and enjoy it for all of us.  If you're working (like me), I hope we can keep productive and make it through another day with little or no downtime.  Again, Happy 4th of July!!!!
happy for you!

congratulations!  I hope to be debt free myself one of these days, and once I get out of debt, to be smart enough to stay out!

Enjoy the good feeling that you are getting out of all your hard work!

***** LOL, that should say I think you CAN be happy... ****

Sorry, didn't get enough sleep lastnight and it has been a long day already.  My 2 month old is not feeling well.

Happy 62 B-Day to you! nm

I'm so happy
What great news. I hope she stays on the right track. I'll continuing sending prayers.
They look so happy!
Are they all from the same litter?  Brothers and sisters?  Come on....tell us a little more about them!  They must be quite the handful!
Looks like a happy pup to me!

You know your dog better than anyone, and you know if he's happy.  My mom had a dog that would bark over every little thing and it made me not want to visit her.  It hurt my ears so bad I almost couldn't stand it.  She would put a bark collar on her when guests came over to spare them the assault on their ears, and we all appreciated it, let me tell you!  She tried several other methods, but they just didn't work on her dog.  Dogs are all different, just like kids.

I used to live in a duplex and the people next door had the most horrible barking dogs.  It really made my time in that place miserable.  I was pregnant and tired all the time but could not get a nap to save my life because of those darn dogs!  The owners have a responsibilty to the neighbors to keep their dogs fairly quiet in my opinion.  I am an animal lover (also a long-time vegetarian), but those dogs grated on my last animal-loving nerve!  Keep taking good care of your dog - he looks quite content and loved to me!

I think you should be happy
because there is a clinical reason for your troubles and those can be managed with meds and behavioral strategies. Best of luck to you. Please don't let it get you down. Better days are ahead. BELIEVE ME!
Wow! I'd be happy with
half of that!

We did get one snow here in NC that was close to 20 inches, and it was lots of fun, but also challenging because it happened all at once, just like you got, and regular cars can't drive until it's been cleared. Now up in WI, the plows would be on top of it immediately, but here in NC, homeowners were having to use shovels. It was like caveman days for about 4 days here! LOL.

You will be happy to know.....SM
That I called another Kohl's about a half hour away from me yesterday. They had the exact number of plates I needed, as well as other pieces............at 80% off, so I went ahead and got them.
Happy B-Day to me...Happy B-Day to me
Well, I just wanted to share that with all of you wonderful people.
Happy B-Day to you x66, and many, many more..

Wow,

Happy Birthday..and enjoy it to the fullest.  Hope it is a very pleasant one...

No, actually I am not happy - sm

I did not ask you to stop "gaming," I simply said there may be a solution to allow 2 Gab Boards so everyone is happy.

Happy M-day to me
Okay, I'm not a mom but I wish I was. Now I'm just too old to be one (I've lost every bit of patience for small children and getting ready for menopause (and no adoption is out). However, every time I see a small child my heart aches for the child I never had. So many mother's days gone by. No cards, no flowers. No child to wrap their little arms around my neck and say I love you. Spent most of my years going out to brunches to celebrate my mom, my grandma, my DH's grandma and mom, my sister-in-law with her 2 small children. My heart aches for what I never had and never will have. Now my DH kisses me and says happy mother's day from the Cat. Well I'm not as sad as I used to be. Took my sisters son to realize that I no longer want children (that and the Menendez brothers HA HA). So it's happy mother's day to me from the cat, who wakes me up in the morning by jumping on my pillow and rubbing her head against mine saying "wake up mommie, I'm hungry", then runs in front of me watching me to make sure I follow her to the kitchen. While working she will sit on my desk reaching out to touch me fingers while I type away on the keyboard. So happy m-day to me.
