I use 1 in the nice weather too and I live in a houseful of guys (dh and 2 sons) and no one says anything. I tell them it cuts down on the electricity bill and they say cool. Its also good for the environment.

I use my clothesline as long as the weather cooperates. There is nothing better than the smell of laundry dried outside, especially sheets. Can't wait for spring.
BTW, I have a clothesline in the basement for during the winter when the wood stove is fired up. Works great.
Clothesline versus dryer -- sm
Do you really save that much on the electric bill by hanging out your clothes?
DH doesn't think so, but I'm inclined to disagree with him. If you do save on your electric bill, how much?
I'll have to let you know. We're installing a clothesline this year.
We always hung clothes when I was growing up. Everyone had their laundry outside, and it was so nice. I've lived in this house for 25 years and don't even have a clothesline! Everything here is gas... dryer, stove, hot water, heat. Gas is cheaper, we use it for everything, so I still need to save. We have no A/C, so that's a help. We also need a new hot water heater, and we're going to a tankless system. I'm hoping that using the dryer less and having a tankless system will make a dent.
I doubt I'll hang towels outside, however. They're much softer when they come out of the dryer.
