tasty, from a dog's point of view. Has he eaten anything particularly wonderful lately, like a dead squirrel? My dogs go bananas when they come across coyote scat. In general they are not poop-eaters, but coyote scat is something else again. I think it has that "wild," partially digested aroma. Probably also has lots of parasites, etc., so of course I get them away from it.

Dominance

I think it's a dominance thing.  Bruiser is letting Duke know he's the big kahuna.  It could also just  be a comforting thing.  My cats snuggle together and lick each other's faces all the time.  Sometimes they'll stick their nose in someone else's rear end.  If it bothers the critter, they move out of the way.
