DS--Been there done THAT

We recently encountered the same situation.  My son is in the 5th grade.  I, like you warned him of the consequences.

I told him that it would be his responsibility to take care of this the entire trip.  He assured me he would do this.  Knowing should the game be lost, stolen, or broken in the end WE would not replace it.  Like your child my son let another child take the game and we still do not have it back.  IT was a 60 game.  I CALLED the parents hoping we could have a so called meeting of the minds, this child's mother told me (HOPE YOU ARE SITTING DOWN), FINDERS KEEPERS, if we had enough money to send a sixty dollar game with a child on a bus we deserved what we got.  I was angry that an adult would have such a childish response.

I guess that just goes to show you sometimes it is the parents we need to teach.

I would not buy a new game for my son.  I felt bad and I am not sure if it was for the other child or my son.

I guess I would chalk it up to a learning experience for all involved.  Oh yeah, no games go in or out of our home ANYMORE.
