Ganglion cysts?

I am almost positive this is what I have.  It is a soft bulge at the base of my wrist.  I noticed it before and thought it was just a prominent wrist bone, but lately I have noticed some mild numbness and tingling and a little bit of pain.  So, after doing some research, I'm pretty sure I have a ganglion cyst.

I absolutely cannot afford to take much time off work!  So, I would like to hear from anyone who has had surgery to have a ganglion cyst removed from your wrist area, how long did you have to refrain from transcription, when did the pain from the surgery resolve, and anything else you can think to offer to help me decide whether I should make that initial appointment?  I know there is no rush on seeking treatment, but since I am starting to have some symptoms, I am considering at least getting it looked at.  Thanks for any info anyone can offer!

cysts under arms....sm
Does anyone else ever get these cyst type things under your arms.  I have for years.  They are like little lumps or bumps under the skin.  They never come to a head or anything but will go away and then I will get them on the other side and in different spots.  I have read that your sweat glands can become clogged and cause hidradenitis.  Very annoying.  I have had them on and off for years come and go.
My 18-year-old has had ovarian cysts
since 8th grade. THe first time she was in pain for about 2 weeks. All they did for her (after we went to the hospital and determined it was not appendicitis) was give her a few pain pills and take it easy for a while, and go back every 6 months for ultrasound. SHe was fine up until last November when she is now having pain almost every month around her cycle for a day or 2. We actually went to the hospital again wiht her in November and they said one had ruptured, but really there wasn't anything they can do for her except remove her ovaries which she is way to young to have done. They did put her on BCP to suppress them, but if misses even 1 dose she has a doozy of a time.
I've had a ganglion cyst on wrist and also had cyst on tendon in hand.
Back in 1980 when I was attending a huge university with medical school attached, we had a clinic on the main campus staffed by residents from the university hospital. I went in and asked, "What's this thing on my hand?" It was a cyst, but back in those days, a very old-timey "cure" was suggested. The doc wanted to thwack it with a big book and smash it away. What can I say? The guy was sooo cute, and he took me out to dinner later, too! He smashed my hand with a book and it hurt like crazy! Then the darn cyst came back a year or two later, and a different doctor suggested the same thing. Smashed that, too. It came back again, and another doctor tried a needle aspiration thing and it seemed to go away for good at that point.
Now here's where it just gets sooo interesting. I do a lot of outdoor stuff, including winter camping, paddling sports, etc. Over the years I've gotten mild frostbite on the hand, smashed it between two canoes, had some pretty awful blood draws by inept nurses. Well, now I have lymphedema in the hand. It swells like crazy and I have to do manual decompression, exercises, stretches, wrapping and I wear a compression garment most of the time. It sucks. Does the cyst smashing have anything to do with it? Was it the frostbite? Other injuries? Who knows. I have it and it doesn't go away. Now I have to be on guard for infection at all times.
Whatever you do, don't let anyone tell you to just smash the thing! LOL Tho, I doubt anyone still says that these days!
