Good heavens, it's been forever, but...

Posted By: CrankyBeach on 2009-05-27
In Reply to: Official WPM...??? sm - Lolabug

... let's see, I left high school typing class (gulp) 39 years ago doing 52 wpm on a big ol' MANUAL typewriter that was bigger than a breadbox....

In 1980 I had to quit my first full-time MT job (back in the typewriter days) because I developed tendinitis in my wrists. After 2 months of not typing at all, I went to a temp agency to get some work because not eating is a bad way to live. They gave me the usual typing test. On an unfamiliar typewriter, typing unfamiliar material, not having typed for 2 months, feeling like I was CRAWLING, I clocked in at 104 wpm. (No wonder I burned out my wrists.)

Now we have ergonomics, expanders, tools and toys, and I have NO idea how fast I type, although when I bother to concentrate and not goof off, I can consistently and easily go at least 200 LPH.

Expect if you Google typing speed tests, you might find something. If you have the kind of Expander that works under the OS as opposed to the platform, you can even try a speed test using your expander, at least, just for the fun of it.... :)

Mine was 752J. Good heavens! I still remember that!???
yet can't remember names or phone numbers of my kids.
Oh heavens! I feel sorry for you and your

state of mind. Of course I sign the cards. The only one thing I said was for the house with what my kids and I felt were the best holiday lights - we would sign it your neighbor, and explain that we loved their lights, or their reindeer or whatever. I always, always put my return address label on the envelopes. As for birthdays, these are people I know in real life - they have told me when their birthdays are! See, this is what I think is wrong with the world. There is something really sad about twisting my post into me being some stalker. I donate things anonymously - like cash to church and pet rescuers, etc. Or if there is a family in need at church and we are asked to help - I donate $$ with only the pastor knowing. That sort of thing. I hope that you can learn to be more trusting. Guess I am not so sad compared to feeling like you do.

Lasik was sent from the heavens for me..
because my vision without glasses was next to a seeing eye dog- 20/400 each eye, could not see much of anything but after Lasik the eyesight is about 20/30 in both. I had that done about 5 years ago and yes I do know people who have had it and resorted back to their glasses. I was an older patient when I had the surgery and knew going into it that if I wore glasses for reading prior that I would probably need to wear afterwards, made no difference- I was not vain, just got to where I could not see the big road signs with either glasses or contacts. Even if Lasik were to fail at this point at least I have had decent vision for several years now, unlike before since a small kid.
Oh heavens no, just the opposite
My hubs spoils me rotten and gives me more attention than I would have ever anticipated. If I bring up his name in talking, he wants to get the subject to anything except him. He is a love and a keeper.
Up to 17" in NE PA. Thank heavens I live
further south and in the central part. No snow. All rain. Hate snow.
Email, heavens no.. he might still be into the milk jug situation
and my breasts are through with that. These are probably the most obnoxious reading posts I have read, ever on here.
Wish we could keep them forever. SM
My cat Dante only lived 11 years. I believe he had multiple strokes, but vets could find nothing definite. In the last 3 months of his life, he cried loudly all night, had staring spells. But in the last month of his life he seemed to want to squeeze into tight spaces, between bookcase and wall, and one night he jumped up on the kitchen counter and then down behind the fridge. My bedroom was behind that wall and I heard him jump down, and my daughter and I got up and pulled the fridge out, I brought him to my bed. My younger daughter took him to her vet, but still no diagnosis. He just faded away one long Saturday afternoon, wrapped in a baby blanket in my daughter's arms. He was my "little man," and came to work in my office faithfully every day. I will say a prayer for you Hayseed, I know you are sick at heart. (Hugs)

Saw this on TV forever and it said
You would not be able to get a good signal WITHOUT getting a converter box. They said antenna would NOT work, no rabbit ears, nothing besides the converter box OR having something like cable or DSL. This was playing on and on and on for months. Did you not see?
Days since forever
My grandma watched, my mom watched, I think I watched in the womb. I was hooked by 6th grade and I still watch when I can get away from the computer, I try to at least catch the last 20 minutes to keep up. Sami and Lucas have been almost married so many times, it is boring. I love that they brought back Steve and Kayla, some of my faves from back in the day!!
"Stupid" isn't forever
the same as "intelligent" isn't forever.
Go in before Monday and buy the Forever
stamp, you buy it at the current rate and it is good no matter what the postage goes up to.
Only if you have Forever stamps....look on

Family does last forever and it's not

about whether you do something that upsets your child.  It's the fact that you prioritze a non-family member's feelings over your own daughter's.  As for the girl throwing herself at the boy, the boy obviously caught her and should have had enough decency not to be caught under the covers with her in a house he is being permitted to stay in.  It works both ways.

This isn't about being a parent or a friend.  It's about choosing your own daughter over a non-family member.  I personally would not have left the 18-yo boy live in my house with my 16-yo daughter, regardless of the daughter's BF.  I agree with the other poster that stated it's just too much temptation, even if they do supposedly act like brother/sister.  I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the problems you will have to endure.

Maybe FOREVER! That's encouraging. Don't want HRT and physician
said long term HRT is a thing of the past, which I didn't know. Now, they only give them for 3-6 months. Mine went away for a couple of months, but back again, 15-20 a day, but no night sweats. I thought this stuff only lasted a year or so.
Well, if I am it is unintentional - I know they won't live forever (sm)
and I don't want to have regrets. I know one day if I have grandchildren I will want them to spend time with me. But I think I would be hurt to know they were crying not to spend time with me, and I would think if I knew that, I would try to spend time with them in other ways until they were happy and comfortable being with me. I have many friends whose children bounce up and down with joy over going to stay with their grandparents and I would love for it to be that way with mine.
Diamonds are Forever song
Thought you all might want to listen to the whole song that plays on the Diamonds are Forever ad.

Name of the artist is Landon Pigg. Name of the song is "Falling in Love in a Coffee Shop" or "Coffee Shop".

Style, voice, melody remind me of Harry Nilsson.

Song will play once page loads.

Enjoy.

That's not a bad idea. he's forever putting
a few $$ here and a few $$ there in his gas tank and he has a steady girlfriend. Maybe a gift card to the movie theatre too! TY!
i love her. I want her to keep saying what she thinks forever. It is so refreshing. He is a pig.

"If it's metal, it'll last forever"...sm
That's one of my dad's favorite sayings. He's a retired sheet metal fabricator. I had a plastic wheelbarrow that got a hole in it when loading it with wood to stack back in my prairie-woman days. He took a square piece of sheet metal, riveted it to the plastic, much like your chair, and 15 years later I am still using that wheelbarrow!

Carrying on here, but I just think this is so neat: When I moved in to my house I was lacking cabinet space. The kitchen had one of those closets with an ironing board in it. My father opened the closet and said "you ever gonna use this?" I only iron for weddings/funerals so I said no, had no need for it. He took the ironing board out, made 6 stainless steel shelves with 90 degree bent ends and drilled them into the cabinet. Canned goods and spices are now in there.

Sorry. Went from chairs to ironing boards. I am avoiding work today.

Definitely understand that - you shouldn't have to have your property be forever a memorial! (sm)
you were VERY kind to leave it there and take care of it for six months. So ridiculous that people gave you a hard time. I'm sorry that happened to you! Bad enough that you have to know something so awful happened in front of your home without a constant reminder and strangers coming up to your house all the time. And it is not your job to maintain it for them. If the family understood, then certainly no one else should have any say whatsoever.
Unless you stay on it forever, you will regain any weight you lose.
People I used to work with went on that diet once. Weight loss varied (nobody lost a lot, just a couple of pounds) and nobody kept it off.
It was scary. Felt like it lasted FOREVER. Heard

Yeah! Make your life an exiting one, this keeps you young, forever!.
The birth certificate has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!

You are as old as you feel and if you maintain yourself well, also OTHERS will see yuo young and say 'Wow'!

Good Fences make good neighbors
You can get premade cedar fencing that comes in sections. You dig a post hole at the appropriate distance and fill with a bag of quick-crete. Alternatively, you could buy a used fence from a place that hauls away.

You could also get an electric fence, just hook to a battery and run the cord (for retraining purposes) it would not hurt your dogs.

I feel your pain. Roll up your sleeves and pray for some digging weather!
Hey hon, you can have one. There are tons of good ones out there looking for a good woman. They ain&
doorstep. Seek and you shall find. So, if you 'really' wanted one, me thinks you would have one...
All good points, good post. (nm)

She is sexually inactive since being widowed by choice.
Good for you!

Good for you

Sounds like she has a good home.  It just may take her time and I am sure professional help will help.   We need to learn not to let them train us.  I have two cats and my dog and I am sure I spoil them according to most people but right now they are my family.   I am sure Tasha will not be around much longer and don't think I will replace her for a while.  Would be nice to be able to come and go for a while and not worry about someone taking care of the dog.  Also it is a little more work training a puppy down here on the water in a floating home.   So it will be me and my cats for a while.   I am also not sure I have the energy for a puppy.  But it sounds like you have sure provided a good home for Miss Lilly.

good for you--sm
Puppies have a way of healing our hearts! We won't forget, but they fill that empty gap..for the other remaining pets, as well. They get lonesome too after having had a companion for a period of time. Just give them time to become friends. I am happy for you!
as an IC you need to get a GOOD CPA....

I truly do not think you can do this yourself, unless you are so business-books acclimated and always on top of things.....

I've been an IC for 10 years and an MT for nearly 30, and as an IC I always get my things CPA-ready for the CPA (receipts/bills/statements, and I write everything down once I get the receipts/bills in good order in the late winter/early spring, by March, and so I go to him with all the categories and the figures and not the receipts/other garbage).  You get a percentage off for your office, your electric, et cetera.  The CPA's know all the in's and out's of this and are quite helpful and worth every dime, in my mind.  I used to pay quarterly taxes (about $500-750) but now I choose to pay yearly, one lump payment by April 15th and I'm all very legal!!

 Best of luck!

It looks good!
And shouldn't that be rheumatiz? :-)
Good for you and your Dr..sm
That is great to hear.  Our GYN office was out of the vaccine at the time of our visit, so they must either pushing it hard, or getting a lot of requests for it. I had seriously considered having my daughter get the vaccine, but after I have had a chance to think about it, I'm having second thoughts.  I don't want this generation of teenage girls to be guinea pigs for something that may have harmful effects later on.  And the government making it mandatory?  Let's hope not.
some good, some bad
but don't you want your kids to have a better and easier life?
That's a good one!
!!!!!!
not good
according to about-to-graduate as vet daughter. As certain nutrients that the one animal NEEDS, is not in the other's food. I can't remember all of what she said, but know it can lead to deficiencies.
Good for you!
Glad to hear things went so well, and I'm sure your mind will rest easier now too.
LOL! Good one... : )

Good for you.....
So excited to read that.  I would swear that is the best "diet" so to speak.  Great news - keep up the good work!
