In Reply to: If you or a loved one has sleep apnea, please read this - Leslie

I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea approximately ten years ago.  I also use a CPAP machine.  I hate the darn thing but it lets me sleep well, and I am not tired in the morning.  I believe that it saved my life.  I was having problems with my heart, being so weak at times that I could not even wash my hair in the shower due to not being able to keep my hands above my head for any length of time.  I underwent stress tests, which I could not pass.  While in the hospital under an intensive care stay I was diagnosed with sleep apnea.  I have felt so much better.  My doctor states that if I lost approximately 100 pounds I could possibly get rid of the CPAP machine.  That would be nice.

I too know of those who have died from sleep apnea.  It is nothing to mess around with that is for sure.
