I call Target, WM, KB, Toys R Us...

Posted By: OP on 2007-11-03
In Reply to: Try Target......and call stores every day - sm - Laura E.

Circuit City, Game Stop, Sears and Best Buy every day and have been for the past 3 weeks - no one has any in stock. They are really popular right now and when they do get them in stock, they sell out within minutes. I'm also signed up to receive emails from Toys R Us and KB Toys when they get them in stock online, but they too always sell out within minutes. It's just ridiculous how hard it is to get one of these. My parents are actually in central Texas this weekend and I'm hoping they'll be able to get one for me while they're there. ebay has them, but they're at least $100 over the normal price and right now I'm not willing to pay that. Oh, well. Hopefully, I'll be able to find one before Christmas.

Try Target......and call stores every day - sm
we went through this in August. Heard 2 things, they will only be selling them in bundles from now on (which we did not want)....and starting to sell them in China now, so not a lot coming to U.S, most are going to China right now so it is very hard to find them. We had bought a used one at Game Stop, but found a problem with it on the last day of the warranty (7-day warranty return policy on used stuff); took it back that night and still had to fight for a refund, and started hunting again. Told to call Wal-mart every day and run in there when they said they got them in (ours was getting 30 a week back in August with 1 weekly shipment but they would sell out in 2 hours). I found them at Target a day or two after we'd bought the used one.....of course they were gone when I went back a 5 days later. But my DH went into a Target in the town he was working and lucked out and bought one there. So if you have a Target, try your luck there, and keep calling until they get a shipment in and drop everything and go when you do find one. I am thinking about seeing if I can luck into any and resell on ebay, make some Christmas money! You can find them on ebay but I am sure as Christmas draws closer the price will rise dramatically. Good luck.
lead in toys/Made in China...beware of Happy Meal toys
I watched a special on CNN yesterday about lead content in toys. I did not realize by your child simply touching a toy and putting his fingers in his mouth he could be ingesting lead. The special included a segment on a nice family that lived in a brand new home with a 2 year old and 6 month old. They both tested positive for lead. A 2 year old!!!! Worried, I went to my boy's toybox this morning and it is AMAZING how many painted toys are from China. Most notably this includes happy meal toys. I haven't gotten through one toy box and already have a trash bag full of toys. Please, please go through your children's toys. Lead ingestion can lead to brain damage. Be paranoid. Throw away all of the made in China stuff. Christmas is just weeks away--they will be getting new stuff (hopefully stuff that is paint-free!).

Your best bet is to buy made in the USA toys but even safer toys are unpainted blocks, Legos and books. A good, safe place to look for toys is www.mindware.com.

pass this on!
Free shipping on tons of toys on line at Toys R Us. nm

Target
I will go in with my husband, buy a coffee at Starbucks but refuse to buy anything.  Don't like their 'return restocking fee', their return policy in general, and the general rudeness of their clerks. Their refusal to let the Salvation Army outside their stores several years back and then stopped the "Merry Christmas" from the clerks just added fuel to the fire....
Target
Target has a line of clothes for 18-inch dolls. They are called My Generation or Our Generation. The clothes fit the American Girl dolls. My daughter also has some of the other items, such as Salon chair and bathtub that are similar and MUCH less expensive.
I think that you are on target. sm
My son graduated last year and we ended up paying about $400-500 for pictures including the sitting fee.  These were outside pictures as well as inside, sports equipment, etc.  Another friend is going through this right now and her sitting fees are around the same price; she is also going to a few different studios pricing things and such.  I think you are okay, they just know they can get you!
It's at Target...
hi
I don't know where you shop, but Target has them for under 100
Target has 500-count king size (up to 18" deep) for $70 on their website. If you're thrifty, you should have no problem finding them elsewhere for under 100 dollars.
I got my Wii at Target 2 months ago
They seem to be getting more and more in lately. I HATE Walmart.
I just found out I am a PA target.
I have been for years and just didn't know it. I knew I was the person everyone went to to feel better, and I would give everything I had (people pleaser). Most toxic people I have kicked out of my life, but it is hard when it is your sister. And it's hard to figure out you are a pushover. LOL!
Nip Tuck at Target
Let me know if you're able to get them at Target. I couldn't believe the price. I actually missed the first few minutes of last week's episode, although I did hear about the hot tub scene. I'm glad I didn't see it. Yuck.
I was going to mention Target as well
My daughter had a doll but we bought a lot of furniture and clothing over the years at Target and she was tickled with it. How old is the person you are shopping for?
For what it is worth, you are right on target sm
For one thing, this didn't come from the ex's mom, it came from the ex. You are 100% right in saying if she calls or comes to your home, you will not be rude to her or ignore her. Since you are included in things with the ex's mother, I doubt she is carrying any kind of a torch for your husband and her daughter. I think she is well over that, but thinks a lot of your husband and wants him to be her friend. It sounds like the mom takes people into her life as she finds them, which is a mature attitude...then again she is an adult and you and your husband are also adults. The ex is acting like she never graduated from high school! SUCH GAMES!

You handled it with much more grace than I could have. My hat is off to you.
toys sm
my hubby and i have within the last two years gotten toys and use them on each other and it's a lot of fun!  maybe you and hubby can go "toy" shopping together, find him something.  i would guess, like one of the other posters said, he's probably thinking he's not doing his job good enough.  hope he opens up to new things for ya!
sex toys
My boyfriend has given me several over the years.  We both enjoy them.  I once bought one on line but when I actually saw it, it looked so scary, I called the company and they agreed to take it back and give me a refund.  It was still in the original wrapper so they trusted me.   I would say just don't use anything that scares you or makes you uncomfortable.

I love them all......

Toys...............
I have 5 cats. They'll usually try to sit in any box they find empty, even one their foot barely fits in...they'll make themselves fit!

Plastic bags! Yep, mine too! When they were babies, but now that they're 7 years old, they don't mess with them anymore.

One of our males thinks a leaf that made its way into the house is the best thing around. He'll bat at it and scatter it all over the house for hours until it gets lost under something.

All of ours are manx with the exception of one..... he's the only one with a tail....our senior citizen. The rest think his tail is a toy!!

Anything they can fold themselves up in is always a good hiding place so they can jump out at anything that goes by, including the dog. A drawer that's opened just a crack is tempting enough to make the effort to crawl in...the heck with the consequences of getting stuck!!

Two of them know how to open the bottom cabinets in the kitchen and think they're going to hide out.....we've had to put child locks on them but one of the males found a way to break it and get in anyway!
Not toys, but s/m
My kitty sticks her feet (hands?) in her bowl and licks them, instead of just drinking the water.  Too cute.
LOL! We got ours at Target back at the end of the July
My husband was at Target one day back in July and called me at home to tell me that they had just gotten a bunch of Wii systems in and asked me if he should get one. I told him to get one because you never know when they will have them again, and we had been wanting to get one! We are both totally addicted to it! We keep going to Gamestop to buy more games, and keep buying games on eBay! LOL!
I don't meet the survey target , but
my two boys had a 10:00 p.m. curfew on school nights when they were 16. Curfew was 11:00 on weekends, unless something special was happening. I was told I was absolutely barbaric for setting such early times. My kids didn't tell me that. Other parents did. Not that I cared, mind you.

Each son proved himself to be trustworthy and responsible, and so the day they turned 18, all curfews were lifted. I only asked as a matter of courtesy that they tell me where they were going and give me an approximate time to expect them home so that I knew when to officially start worrying. They didn't have to tell me, but I asked them to tell me, which they did. In fact, for the first week or so after they turned 18 they'd ask me for permission to do something or go somewhere, and I'd reply, "Why are you asking me? You're an adult!" LOL!

They are 18 and 20 now, and doing just fine. The 18 year-old is commuting to a university in our city. He refers to us as his college roommates.
We found 2 different DVDs at Target. nm

Toys for Tots
I believe it is the one run by troops collecting toys for underpriviledged kids at xmas.
I'd heard about Macys/Kohls but not Target. (sm)
Could you possibly share this website or where you received your info? I remember the flak caused by Salvation Army not being allowed outside Target doors - wondering if that has changed? I was curious about Home Depot/Lowe's who changed to 'holiday trees' instead..... Thanks much!
$300 for SHEETS? Try Wal-Mart, Target, or Ross!

Target has 400-thread count for $39.95 per sheet

Are you kidding?? That's a GREAT price. I'm going to Target. (sm)
Oh, the hot tub scene was great!  I first thought it was blood, though, and I thought she got her period.  Maybe the color on my TV is off?
Finally made it to Target. Got Season 2 & 3. They were out of 1.

I'll get it next time.

Get a reciept book from WalMart, Target, etc.

Sex toys - embarassing & anonymous
Hi - I'm serious - anonymous embarassing question for anonymous answers!  I am 39 years old and my husband recently found out that I have a sex toy I bought about a year ago.  He is furious and is acting like I am a really bad person.  I think these things are way more common than the thinks.  Just looking for opinions?
I used to LOVE soap with toys in it.
I think I had one when I was little called Fuzzy Wuzzy--or maybe I don't remember.  (I'm 45 now.)  But what a great thing to recreate.
Last vent on obnoxious toys. LOL.

The LeapFrog Tag thingy.  I saw them at Wal-Mart and it looks like certain books work with it.  I saw the advertisement and thought it was neat until that crazy man in the lizard costume  or whatever it is insinuated that books are boring unless they can be used by that talking pen. I cannot figure out how that thing helps kids learn to read as it says it does.  It looks to me like that pen reads for them.  My 6-year-old is in first grade and they are trying to teach her to read by phonics.  So when she and I read together whenever she stumbles across a word I have her try to look at it and sound it out before I will give her an answer and most of the time she can.  I think I am just frustrated by that whole industry now anyway because I have had salespeople come to my door basically telling me that my kid is going to be a dumbazz if I don't buy their expensive junk....all the other kids have it and mine will be left out in the cold.  I guess I am not giving those electronics a chance.  I cannot see what they can do for my child that I cannot.

my dog sneaks kids toys and
takes them to bed with her. Or if you leave work gloves outside, she'll run off with one that you may never find again, but so far, that's the extent of her damage. don't know how well i'd get over eating up my headsets...
Kitty's favorite toys!

So what are your kitty's FAVORITE toys?

With mine, the store-bought toys usually get ignored, while she instead plays happily with the box the toy came in.    Strings are pretty much the Numero Uno toys for her.  And bags.  She spent this morning smugly sitting inside a clear plastic bag that had been a 12-pack of toilet paper, thinking I couldn't see her.

Lately she's developed an huge liking for grocery twist-ties.  So recently I began making her "spiders" out of a couple twist-ties twisted together in the middle to form a body, and the ends of the ties are legs.  She goes NUTS with these, especially in the kitchen, since they scoot and skitter in a very lifelike manner when she bats them across the linoleum.  She also likes to grab the spider and zoom all over the house with it.

Eventually she hides them, and I have to make her another.  I'm sure that someday if I ever move, I'll probably discover old twist-tie "spiders" in all sorts of unlikely places.

Same problem for me. Deep pockets - Wal-Mart and Target have them.

I got toys for the nieces and nephews. Did pretty
good.  Got Battleship w/a handheld electronic Battleship package for 8 bucks, a 20 pack of Hot Wheels race cars for 9 bucks, Barbie stable and horse for 23 bucks (two items), 4-Ever Best Friends for 11 bucks, My Little Pony Styling Pony for 9 bucks, and Pirates of the Caribbean PSP game for 39 bucks.  I also bought 3 beautiful Christmas sweaters for 12 bucks each.  I think I did pretty good.
I got tons of clothes and toys. I always hit Walmart,
Toys-R-Us and JC Pennys for those things. I also went to Pac Sun and got me some jeans (2 for less than the price of 1). I never go for electronics. I figure what you are trying to save for 1 item, you loose by missing out on all the other small things. I did get gaming things though, basically any electronics I do not have to stand in line for, like Walmart has you do. For instance, if you bought a PS2 game at Toys-R-Us, you get a wireless controller for 5 bucks, normally 20. I got a game and the controller for 10 bucks.
Buy one of those bathtubs and fill them up with bath toys sm
and baby towels, washcloths, Johnson & Johnson stuff, etc.

Or buy one of those dishwashwer tubs that fit into the dishwasher that holds nipples, pacifiers, etc and wrap that up in a baby bath towel with a big bow on it.
Get a basket and fill it up with onesies, socks, kits that include medicines, etc.

I love going to baby showers and creating unique gifts!
Severe warning about dangerous dog-toys!!

I came across this blog today on Craigslist:  http://www.thechaistory.blogspot.com/

And if you have a dog, it's a must-see.  It details what happened to a dog that was severely injured by a dog toy called a "Pimple Ball" made by Four Paws, Inc.  The dog ended up losing his tongue, and the pain he had to endure was excruciating.

The dog's owner relates that the Four Paws Co. hasn't owned up to the fact that its toy is dangerous, and he's calling for a international boycott of Four Paws, Inc.  After watching his video links of his poor dog's suffering, even though I have cats, I plan to be sure I don't purchase ANYTHING from this company, andhopefully you won't either.

Lots of chewie toys, because puppies
like to chew.  And I have seen Springer Spaniel calendars at either Borders or Petco.
First question, do you have kids? Second, do they have small toys?...sm

If it is something solid like that, the Drano can't break it up.  In our case, it was the toilet when our kids were small with a Petey toy from McDonalds.  We tried plungers and eels, and finally took the toilet up, and there it was stuck in the curve of the drain.

First, try a plunger and see if you can get it to break loose.  Yes it will kind of make a mess, and I recommend the 2.00 trip to Walmart to use a sanitary new plunger!  If that will not do it, try taking the trap off (the u-shaped piece of pipe).  Most pipes these days are plastic PVC so it should be pretty easy to loosen the fittings.  VERY, VERY IMPORTANT!  Shut both the hot and cold water valves off under the sink before doing anything!!  Yes again speaking from experience!  If the water lines come loose during this process, it makes a HUGE mess.  Whatever is plugging your sink up is probably trapped in there.  Yes it is kind of gross what sticks in your sink, but it is much cheaper (2.00 for the plunger) than calling the plumber.  If that still does not work, then call the plumber.  The problem may be underground roots from trees near the home or who knows what.  Hope this helps.

Aqua Dots toys contain poison - a warning.

Millions of toys recalled; contain 'date rape' drug

Two U.S. children went into comas after swallowing Chinese-made Aqua Dots found to contain a chemical that converts into 'date rape' drug when ingested.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Millions of Chinese-made toys have been pulled from shelves in North America and Australia after scientists found they contain a chemical that converts into a powerful date rape drug when ingested. Two children in the United States and three in Australia were hospitalized after swallowing the beads.

With only seven weeks until Christmas, the recall is yet another blow to the toy industry - already bruised by a slew of recalls this past summer.

Child deaths have prompted FDA hearings on the safety of cold and cough medicines. CNN's Elizabeth Cohen reports

In the United States, the toy goes by the name Aqua Dots, a highly popular holiday toy distributed by Toronto-based Spin Master Toys. They are called Bindeez in Australia, where they were named toy of the year at an industry function earlier this year.

It could not immediately be learned whether Aqua Dots beads are made in the same factories as the Bindeez product. Both are sold by Australia-based Moose Enterprises.

The toy beads are sold in general merchandise stores and over the Internet for use in arts and crafts projects. They can be arranged into designs and fused together when sprayed with water.

Scientists say a chemical coating on the beads, when ingested, metabolizes into the so-called date rape drug gamma hydroxy butyrate. When eaten, the compound - made from common and easily available ingredients - can induce unconsciousness, seizures, drowsiness, coma and death.

Naren Gunja from Australia's Poisons Information Center said the drug's effect on children was "quite serious ... and potentially life-threatening."

The recall was announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Wednesday several hours after published reports about the recall in Australia.

The two U.S. children who swallowed Aqua Dot beads went into nonresponsive comas, commission spokesman Scott Wolfson said Wednesday afternoon.

In Australia, the toys were ordered off store shelves on Tuesday when officials learned that a 2-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl were hospitalized after swallowing the beads. A 19-month-old toddler also was being treated.

The news jolted the toy industry because Aqua Dots has been one of the few bright stars of the toy selling season, which, along with overall retailing, has gotten off to a sluggish start. The item, which had been heavily advertised, had appeared on many toy experts' list of must-have holiday toys, and toy sellers are now in the midst of canceling advertising and scrambling to figure out how to replace it.

Chris Byrne, a New York-based toy consultant, noted that the incidents could have been isolated, and Spin Master may be erring on the side of caution.

"This is something that they could not have foreseen. This is an extremely hot toy. ... It's a little scary," Byrne said.

In a statement, Toys "R" Us Inc., said that it issued on Tuesday a "stop sale" on the entire Spin Master Aqua Dots product line in its North American stores and on its Web site after it learned of the news. "We understand that Spin Master and U.S. regulatory authorities are investigating this product and we have asked Spin Master to fully explain what it believes happened," said the toy seller in a statement.

Meanwhile, a separate recall was announced for 405,000 children's products made in China, most of them toy cars, because of dangerous levels of lead.

The recall includes about 380,000 Pull-Back Action Toy Cars imported by Dollar General Merchandising Inc. of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and 7,500 Dragster and Funny Car toys imported by International Sourcing Ltd. of Springfield, Mo.

Four of the recalled products were imported by Schylling Associates Inc. of Rowley, Mass., including the items Duck Family Collectable Wind-Up Toy, Dizzy Ducks Music Box, "Robot 2000" collectable tin robot and Winnie-the-Pooh Spinning Top. The company recalled another 66,000 spinning tops Aug. 22.

Representatives from Schylling Associates Inc. were not immediately available for comment.

Wednesday's recalls include about 7,200 "Big Red" Wagons imported by Northern Tool & Equipment Co. of Burnsville, Minn. Totaling about 405,700, the recalled children's products all had excessive levels of lead in their surface paint.

Although no illnesses connected to the toy car recall have been reported, lead is toxic if ingested by young children. Children's products found to have more than 0.06 percent lead accessible to users are subject to a recall. Top

Note that AquaDots has been recalled. I went into a KB Toys and found one on
they couldn't be stocked and pulled them from the back.  I turned it in to the manager and asked him hadn't those been recalled and his eyes about popped out of his head and said that they had and thanks for catching it.
Lots of teething toys and crate training - sm
Get her a good book or a video on raising a puppy. They chew a lot with puppy teeth. Some breeds chew more than others, I had a husky that chewed a table leg, I have had a lab/shepard mix that basically ate a couch....which we ended up putting the dog in the powder room with a muzzle on during the day. Eventually we were able to unmuzzle the dog, after 2 years or so, as she got older and less destructive. Felt bad doing it but it was the only way not to have her eat the plumbing, baseboards, etc. They are also destructive when they are bored. If she leaves the dog alone constantly it is going to get into mischief. A dog is a bit respponsibility, I hope she is up for it, and if she bails I hope you can take it in.
Do any of your cats drop their toys in the water bowl?
It's the funniest thing with mine.   When Lucky was a baby he'd drop his toys in the toilet and just have a blast trying to fish them out.  Then he'd come jump up on the desk with me and shake his wet paws off.  Lucky and Sofia both drop their toys in the water bowl.  Sofia loooooooves those little fur mice.  She will go to town chasing them around and then she drowns them either in the water bowl or the toilet.  I have learned to check before I sit down on the potty - I think I've flushed more than one mouse away.
Chili peppers and little tiny plastic pinball toys.

You should call....sm
an attorney that deals with bankruptcies and ask them what you can do in this situation and they should be able to help you for a minimal cost.

In most states, if your husband's name is not on the credit card account they cannot go after his credit or try to force him to pay your bill... and vice versa.

For a reality check - the credit card company can seize your bank account and incoming deposits to one, force your employer/clients to turn over money designated for you to them for the debt. If you don't present some sort of offer to pay them a reasonable amount every month then they may choose to do the above things to you and legally can. However, if you can show the courts you can pay "x" a month and the judge thinks it's OK then they wouldn't be able to garnish any monies due to you.

Since you mentioned that you only work part-time, they'll probably suggest that you take on a full-time job to pay this debt.

Call them
Your best bet is to call and tell them what your situation is, that you want to work out a solution with them. Even if you have to refinance with them to get payments lower to a level you can afford, it will be worth it - don't default if you can help it. Nowadays, it can raise your car insurance rates, affect new employment opportunities, etc.

Besides, paying it back is the right thing to do. It will let you keep your self respect.
My dog does it too..but we call them
"kitty biscuits," LOL.  Either way it's gross.  He's been doing it forever, and we can't seem to break him of this habit.
