over the hill
You can't take it with you!

We get our used cars from a broker who goes to car auctions. They are lease or rental returns and you can be very picky about what you want with how many miles, etc. Used cars are becoming scarce in this economy though, so I really would not wait. The broker comes to my city to get the cars, but I do have to drive about 150 miles to his dealership to buy the car. A good broker is worth the drive.
Good luck!
Faith Hill
I was pleased to see a genuine reaction. When they smile and clap for the other person, we all know it's phony - each of them thinks they will win.

As far as Carrie Underwood winning the award, I agree with Faith - WHAT???? She isn't in the same league with the other nominees and had no business being nominated. Just because someone dreams of some thing doesn't mean they deserve to have it. Being the most popular, which is what American Idol is all about, does not mean you have a shred of talent. The song leaders in my local church have more talent than Carrie Underwood.
Over the Hill Party sm
You can have a big bash with old friends from school, stating no gifts, and just have refreshments and put on a favorite football game. You could have a team theme. There are plenty of "over the hill" items around. A few friends or just the family, you can buy napkins, plates, etc., at a party store. Depends on his personality, Spencer Gifts is great for small stuff, but be careful, some of it is adults only. If money is tight, you could do a "Dollar Store Only" gift party which would apply to him. My husband has a terrific sense of humor, so it was easy. He likes to cook, so I bought him a paper chef's hat at a party store and a big frying pan and some oven mitts. I asked others just to bring funny over-the-hill cards only, no gifts. There are tons of possibilities, it depends on his personality. I happen to have one that loves funny gifts and feels embarrased if anyone gives him money or gifts. If he isn't that type, then something more sedate would be in order. The main thing - have fun! If your transcription money is just rolling in - a big TV to watch the game or his favorite show. (That's a joke.)
May be a mole's hill to you but
I hate for my daughter, who by the way suffers from a life-threatening disease, to spend Christmas day alone. Except for a half brother, I am the only family she has. I don't know how it is done in your family, but most of mine usually like to spend that day with family. Thanks anyway for the concern you show.
Anybody see the Faith Hill freak-out on...
I didn't see the show, but saw the video on, what is it, utube or youtube? Anyhow, I googled it and the video came up...can't tell if it's for real or not! If it is, she's a sore loser!
I think Faith Hill is over-rated
I never did get the big buzz about her. If she weren't married to Tim no one would have ever heard of her. She's an opportunist and looks like a gawky dodo bird. I'm glad she finally got busted for being the insincere phony she truly is.
Right now the Fugees/Lauren Hill :)
I love her version of Killing me Softly. If you haven't heard it, check it out. :)

Oh I love Lauren Hill!
First tune I heard of her's, Everything is Everything, it brought out the soul sista in me!  Her voice is awesome!
Nothing, live at the top of a reallly big hill
and the kids don’t climb this hill. I am glad because then I don’t have to run every 5 minutes or so to the door. Have done my share in the past.
Ted Kennedy back on Capitol Hill
returning to work 6 months after his brain cancer diagnosis. He looks and sounds great.  Good to see him back. He has his wife and dogs with him too.
No problem cashing out. We're "over the hill"

All we have to do is pay taxes on what we take out. We did find a car we would love to own but it's $6000 for a 2003 with less than 100,000 miles on the engine. We probably can't get a car loan but they want $1600 down which would be no problem right now, but we have no idea when he would be going back to work,  if he does, depending on highway construction jobs.

We're kinda in a darn if we don't and darned if we do situation. I don't want to take any money from my IRA but there''s not much left after the fiasco that happened. I lost mucho dollars as did he. We will never be able to retire on what's left now.

We're at the age now where we don't pay penalties on any distribution of our IRA so it wouldn't hurt us that bad. We would also pay the taxes on the 20%  distribution necessary.

Has anyone tried hose "we can get you a car for less" deals? I thik they are a rip off, but not quite sure. I didn't really get into those sites.

Faith Hill's only talent is hitchin' her proverbial wagon
She has no more talent than Carrie does. As a matter of fact, Carrie's better and didn't need to marry a big name to break into show business.
Haley and I think she sang If My Heart Had Wings by Faith Hill. She is okay but -sm-
Sabrina deserved to stay. I don't think Antonella should have made it to the top 24.  I think the producers had to know about her background and put her on to give the show more attention (not that it needed any).  I agree with the poster from the other day that only two of the winners deserved to win, Carrie and Kelly although I have not purchased anything of Taylors.  I have purchased cds by Clay, Kimberly Locke and Josh Gracin and they are all excellent.  I even purchased a short cd by Carmen Rasmussen that wasn't too bad.  Rubin and Fantasia were not my type of singers.  I am sure they have a lot of fans to get where they are but they were not my favorites and I would probably not buy any of their music.
I did the macarena with a stuffed animal sliding down a hill, because I'm NOT crazy!

Global warming - faction, fiction, political, mountain or mole hill

Trying to get a handle on whether people have bought into the global warming thing.

Do you believe it whole-heartedly 100% Gore-ly, or do you believe the scientist who have been studying global warming/cooling.

Also, do you believe a lot of it is politically-oriented.

Picture -- I got it!
Are we there yet???? Woof
She took a picture of him NM

Picture?

Test.  Made Avatar that picture.  If it does not show still would someone explain how to do that please

Here is the picture.
Finally. I was forgetting to put in the profile ID.
The big picture is what happens to the cat (sm)

or any other pet for that matter, when we move them onto someone else.   Is there a guarantee they will find a good home--or a home that gives them as much TLC as you do?

I had a young cat that went right through my screen windows...I mean RIGHT THROUGH the darned screens to get outside and then used them to get back in!  Ruined at least 5 of them.  I thought about a cat door, but there are other critters out in these parts I do not want coming into the house to sneak a snack, so nixed that idea.  I tried to see if he'd like being a barn cat and staying outsite 24/7 with a nice warm barn to sleep and nope, he wanted in (hence the crashing through the screens).  He also shredded the rubber seals around both my doors.

I could just pawn him off on a shelter in an area where feral cats are up the wazoo knowing there was a good chance he would be euthanized if not adopted within the 14-day limit, or give him away to some unknown person (tales of cats being used for coyote bait do exist up here), or put up with the destruction for however long he lived.

My little niece came up to visit from out of state one summer and fell in love with this PIA of a cat.  They were inseparable.  She asked her parents if they could take him home and they said yes.  I packed up his little kitty carrier with all his toys, some food, health records, and kissed him goodbye.  She sends me pictures and is always updating me with his antics.  He doesn't crash through their windows and follows my niece around like a puppydog.  It's been 3 years now and thankfully it all worked out beautifully.

If I were in your shoes, love him, and could guarantee a lifetime indoor home for him, I'd have him declawed.  The alternative could be much, much worse.

This definitely not my picture
The grandchildren on son's side only grandchildren I have. I have a daughter that I possibly see every 3 or 4 months- no shopping trips, occasional lunch out. When my grandson born (older than the GD) I asked if before going to the maternal GMs house after delivery if they would stop by the house for a minute so I could hold- had never even held the child (after being asked to not visit in the hospital 1 night, mother tired and then told next day G-aunt and maternal GM both there the previous night, held and diapered!) and told no, I could come over later to hold the G-son. Waited, waited, called and told to wait longer as others (including aunts, cousins, etc.) still holding. This started right from the get go. I always from the day my son married knew and expected for his wife to come first, before me, no question there- the only thing is I would have thought I could have at least shared some of the g-children. Before my last marriage I was charged for any and all things done at my home by my son, grands and the like- not the other side. Why would I be treated any different? This family on DIL's side have no outside friends- they are their own friends and socalize all together. I have always been last and I just finally accepted. Oh, by the way, did not tell about my DIL stealing money from me- I never ever mentioned that to my son nor others- I would certainly not be believed. She also hurt my credit for 7 years- allowed her to use 1 of my cards- she bought things for her G-mom and g-mom paid but DIL kept that money instead of paying the bill. This again I never said anything about, always just thinking well if I say anything, not believed and could keep the kids away always, now just threw in that ole towel!

Why would we laugh? I love the cheetah print - I'm such a diva at times or was in my younger, much thinner years! You are a very pretty woman with a few years of maturity behind you. I wouldn't want to be in my 20's or 30's again for all the tea in China. Great picture. Thanks
My dad took a picture of my new car.
I got my Yaris a couple of weeks ago, and he took this picture for me last Sunday. If you are looking for an excellent little car that gets great gas mileage, you might like one of these too.
Another picture
Here is another picture of Santahoe
They should take another picture

using their hands to sign the L on the forehead (as in LOSER) and send that to the police dept and the school administration.  Maybe that would get a message across.

THIS IS WHERE YOU CALL WHEN YOU HAVE TECHNICAL PROBLEMS.

          THIS IS INDIA......

the big picture
They have lower prices because they do not pay their employees a living wage, do not provide benefits, etc., etc., etc. They are what is wrong with this country today. They did to retail what MTSOs are doing to us. And people are eating it up. They go into a town and drive all the other businesses out. People have no choice but to work there. Then they pay them crappy wages with no benefits so they can keep costs low. you are supporting an industry that does to its people what we are complain about in ours. Americans should boycott WalMart and force them to pay their employees decently and force them to provide benefits. WalMart was named time after time as the biggest offender in this regard. About 80% of their employees have no insurance because they keep them working "part time" (32 to 36 hours) and then don't have to give them benefits or when they offer the benefits they price them so the people can't afford to pay for them. Do some research on them. you may not like what you find. And try to find American made products there. Why do people not see that sometimes saving a buck costs $10 in the end. Cut off your nose to spite your face, as my mom would have said.
Let's see if I can do this - pug picture
This is Maggie.  She is so sweet!!
I also had a picture up with me 35 pounds

I've had 2 dobies, both with ears down, 1 with a tail, devoted and loving. I cannot get past this. There is a way to make sure this human waste never does this again....
How about a picture frame that your

I know you can also find stuffed animals that record messages.  I'm sure a sediment directly from your son using his "voice" would surely make her smile and know that she has done her job.  If I were a speech therapist, the sweetest thing to my ears would be your son's voice.  JMO.

Oh--an AVATAR picture! Well, that I can help with!
The key there is SIZE of the picture--has to be 100x100 pixels.  If you need help, you are welcome to e-mail me your picture and I will re-size it for you and send it back.  Just click on my name to send it to me.  If you already have it resized and ready to go, just go into your profile (which for some reason you can only edit when you post a message) and upload it directly from your computer.

I saw a picture of a man from Albania...

Inside the huge cage, was a big pig (animal) and the man's wife sitting/squatting right next to the pig......

THIS is HOW THESE types of men treat their women..........

Everyday I'm glad I was born and raised in the USA and believe me I thank GOD DAILY for that....

From the picture you paint, it is SM
hopeless. No man wants to get divorced. This may sound funny, but they don't. Even if they hate the woman they are married to. I should know. I was a perfect housekeeper, but everything you said in your note applied to me. May have been married to the same man!

If you have been to counseling four times, I would say you gave it your best shot.

However, how old are your children? It is very hard raising kids alone. Can you stay there until they are older? High school? I was a long suffering woman, until my daughter graduated from high school. I am much older and we were taught to stay for the sake of the children.

Believe me, I know it is not easy to leave; but it does get a LOT easier once the children are grown.

You have a lot to think about and my heart goes out to you, because I was once where you are.
How to post a picture

First, the picture has to be on the internet. There are a lot of photosharing sites like Photobucket (that's the one I use), Flickr, Webshots, etc.

The photo sharing site will give you a link you can use to post the picture. You have to use the "Post Reply to this Message!" instead of "Post QUICK Reply."

At the bottom, you will see three boxes:

URL/Link:

Link Title:

Image Link:

To post a picture, copy and paste the link for your picture in the "Image Link" box.

If you want to post a clickable link for a website, copy and paste the link in the "URL/Link" box, and you can put the name of the website in the "Link Title" box.

Hope this helps.

Hmmm.... you and Jan have exactly the same picture and
scripture at the bottom of each page. Let me see- are you the same???
I don't know how to post a picture.
If I e-mail a picture, does anybody know how to put the picture in so everybody can see it? Or do I have to have it in a website (which I don't have).

What is it with cats and Christmas trees?!   Such a riot--she looks tweeked that you caught her doing that!
Great picture and
a beautiful baby to be proud of.

What a beautiful picture!!!
Looks like a wonderful place, what beautiful scenery!  Thanks for sharing.

They only look innocent in that picture!
We wake up every morning to find ornaments all over the floor throughout the house! My white one who isn't in that picture is the worst of the bunch!
Picture of Silver
Here is a picture of Silver. I got Silver for my husband 12 years ago for Christmas. My husband passed away last year and Silver was his baby.
Here is Dempsey's picture that I
used on the Christmas card he sent to his doggie and human friends (minus the ball).  Luckily he is not camera shy like my other dogs have been.
Nice picture! Thanks.
Cute doggy. I remember snow ...

We've gotten about 2 inches of rain, and I'm ecstatic for that ... but Bear is not so happy about getting wet. Looks like a big black bear, has webbed toes, and doesn't like to go out in the rain. What a goof.

That must be a BIG kitty. Do you have a picture?
NM
Ayn you are too funny! (picture)

This winter has been so long and so cold, I actually forgot about the prospect of a whole new crop of those spiders!

I found this TERRIFIC bug identification site and of course there are tons of spiders.  If you're ever bored go to http://www.whatsthatbug.com/  I love their Bug of the Month on the home page.  Their comments about the photos people submit are usually pretty funny.

This one picture SLAYS me!  If I ever saw THAT in my house, I would first stand frozen in fear for probably a good hour, with wet pants of course (because I would have peed in them), and then I'd slowly back away to the door, never taking my eyes off that clock, I'd be ooged out by everything that brushed up against me as I made my way to the door in slow motion, and then once outside I run and call the fire department or something.

I would NEVER remove the clock to see what exactly it was failing to hide inconspicuously behind it, that's for danged sure!

Here's what was behind the clock (picture)

This, I'm sure, would cause my heart to instantly explode.
