other things going on. I watched a television program last night and it was about obesity and how some people think all you have to do is just put down your eating utensils. That would be really nice if that were the case, huh? My hubby eats like a horse and never gains weight, gonna throw rocks at that man!! I really have thought for some time that food addictives might have something to do with our weight problems. Thanks for the input.

Do either of you have hypothyroidism?
If you do, what medicine are you using?
I do not think I have hypothyroidism
Had blood work done 2 months ago and my thyroid level was normal. I have been on hormone replacement therapy for about 3 years, but my hair has been falling out for many years; probably noticed it in my 30s. It is not coming out in chunks but I think more than it should be. Probably will ask my doc about it.
i have hypothyroidism
and the first thing I was told when diagnosed was "if you have a daughter, please let her know because this tends to run in females in the family." Your mother had it so possibly you also. I knew I had it when I was so cold sitting around typing with blankets over me, itching like you would not believe, dry skin, etc and of course the weight thing. I told my doctor what I had and sure enough when tests finally finished, off the chart. Some times for no reasons I am just totally tired and lay down for awhile and rest and that helps me a great deal. There are several tests, T3 and T4 and more advanced thyroid peroxidase - I think my other tests were showing ok and the peroxidase was normal 0-34 and mine came back at 283 and this was several years after the diagnosis. With your mothers history, it would be worthwhile seeking these tests to see if that is the problem.
yes and no, I got it when I was pregnant and had hypothyroidism
but it does NOT have to be underlying sign of malignancy, they are just being careful. Sometimes it's just rotten luck.
Hypothyroidism, hair loss, anyone with this
what have you done for the hair loss. I told hubby gonna do a Britany and get it all shaved and wear a wig my loss is getting so severe. Any help on this?
Anyone with hypothyroidism that has been told to have thyroid out?
I have the problem and have never lost weight. I just read a report where some physicians suggest having the thyroid out and then you might lose the weight? Just wondering if anyone has done this? Thanks
They usually remove the thyroid for hyperthyroidism not hypothyroidism. SM
If you have hypothyroidism, then your thyroid is low producing or not producing at all which causes you not to be able to lose weight.  So removing your thyroid would basically be useless.
Hypothyroidism can cause constipation -- has she had recent lab testing? (n/m)

Hair loss and hypothyroidism, have you ever switched medicine
from say Synthroid to Armour. I am having very severe hair loss and going this afternoon to see my endocrinologist to see about a change as what I have been reading on Synthroid is not that good with the hair loss. Tell me what you have done. Thanks
