I have an insane idea- order both--- be interesting - sm

to see how many eat chicken and how many pizza. I have a SIL that is impossible to please when it comes to food. My mom would always call her though and ask her what she would like; then she'd make what we will all eating (Turkey, spaghetti, whatever) then also make skinless chicken (usually) for my SIL so she would have something to eat as well. Yeah she thought it was a pain to do but she did it to please her DIL. So again, I'd just suggest back to her, hey pizza is growing old, how about we get pizza and chicken, and you know mashed potatoes is not the only side, they also have mac n' cheese, cole slaw, rolls, etc. Have a mini buffet with pizza and chicken and have some fun.

Our dog has gone insane...

That is my only explanation, but then I always think that when someone (or whatever you call a pet....) does something that doesn't fit into my world.

She has taken to getting practically hysterical when put into her kennel!! She lives in the house, and typically gets put in an inside kennel when we leave for the day. She has always done great in it, and is only put in when we eat, go to bed, or leave the house. Even when we are home she tends to lay in it, she likes it. It has a bed, she takes one of her toys in with her when she goes in. In fact, I always tell her, its time for your kennel, go get a toy. She will race to her toy basket, dig around, pick one out, and take it in.

So the problem is, she has taken to getting to an hysterical whining/barking at night. I have had to get up in the night for the last week to see if she had to go to the bathroom or something. After a few nights of this, I thought ok, this is nuts, she has trained ME to let her out! She didn't have to go to the bathroom, didn't need a drink, just got out and started playing. Finally, on the third night of this, I dragged her kennel to the utility room and made her stay there, I can't hear her there. Husband said she kept it up all night, never settled down. So the NEXT night, when I put her in, I put her in a little earlier sop we didn't go RIGHT to bed, and made her lay down, thinking maybe she didn't like it that she was suddenly alone. (we also cover the entrance door with a cover so no light gets in her kennel, she sleeps better that way) She was fine, until we went to bed, then she started in. I went out, yelled at her to lay down and go to sleep. She resisted, but finally did it.

Last night would have been the first night I have done the new routine all the way through, make her go in a little earlier, making her lay down, but I had a bad night and ended up sleeping on the couch, and we never put her in. She was out all night laying on the floor next to me. I have a feeling that was a setback.

I drove husband to work this morning, and put her in her kennel as usual. For all she knew, we were going to work, not knowing I was coming back. When I walked in, she was hysterical again!! I heard her before I entered the house, so I know she was not doing it for my benefit. I yelled at her to knock it off and made her stay in until she did.

Now she is fine, laying in front of the fireplace sleeping. Any suggestions? She is driving me NUTS!!!

WHY would you even post such a sickly insane question?

insane woman's world suggestion
Did anyone see in the latest Woman's World the suggestion for work at home as an MT?  It says work typing doctor's reports and make 14 cpl, or up to $28 an hour, and then lists MTjobs.com.  Like you can just decide to do medical transcription, hop over there and snag a 14 cpl job.    That is insulting to medical transcriptionists, and frustrating to people who are made to believe they can just pick this up and do it.
Jails are overflowing because of insane drug laws.

I totally relate..my daughter AND my mother are driving me insane.
It's funny you should mention Melodie Beattie as I went online today to look for support groups and someone mentioned that book. When I saw the description of "copendency" it fit my daughter..in EVERY category, and I know that I, of course, fell into the "enabler" category. Between my daughter calling 15 times a day and my mother..I am ready to move away and let someone else deal with them for a while. In a way, my mother is like my daughter..she also calls for money. Ironically, she does not like my daughter because of what my daughter has put me through. Funny how she doesn't realize that she does the same thing..emotional manipulation..guilt trips. I just want to be mentally free from them, and for this, I am getting help. They have drug me into depression, along with them. They are both bipolar and I think I am almost there with them, because one minute I feel so happy and positive..and then they call..and I'm depressed. I pray for strength..Thanks for your kind words. I can't help them anymore but I can save myself.
Law and Order CI -- I can't believe
they moved it to USA though- every time I think about getting rid of cable they do this to me. :(

Yuck, now I can't eat dinner later after reading all these words everyone posted. Maybe I'll post them on the refrigerator so as to enhance my diet!
CSI and Law and Order

Saw the post on the other board about transcribing for CSI or L&O docs.

Had to respond here (because this is not really a main board thing), that these shows are awesome! I love them probably because it is so much like our work.  One of the accounts I type for is actually mentioned on one of the CSIs and I go crazy when I hear the name of the hospital. LOL.  Anybody else loooove these shows? Just curious to see if there are only a few of us or if a lot of MTs have this in common.

there isn't any order that I sm
know of. There is a notice that ocmes in the mail that says it will just be in late May.
restraining order?
When you leave, could you try to get a restraining order? Then when he violates it, which he probably will, have him arrested. .
Nevermind.. order something...
called Lock Laces online.  Expensive, but hopefully they will last.
It depends on where I order it from...sm

Pizza Hut now charges a $1.75 delivery fee and is only 1.5 miles from my house, so I typically tip 15% if we have it delivered instead of going to pick it up ourselves (Which we do more often since they raised their delivery fee).  If we order from another place that doesn't pass on a delivery fee than I'll usually tip 20%.

I never, ever, put money into a tip jar anywhere.

When we do eat at restaurants I usually tip 20% or more depending on the service, but if I get suboptimal service I'll leave 10-15% depending on the level of service received and how busy the restaurant is (if they're busy I'm more forgiving than if they're not).

I'd get a restraining order, that way when- sm
he violates it he will be thrown in jail, and possibly get a mental health evaluation. You mom needs to do this as he has threatned her, etc. You never know when he might further go over the edge and followthrough (i.e. kill your mom), if he ever does you will obviously feel very guilty that you sat back and did nothing.
Look like a good belly rub is in order!!!

No mentors, formerly done via mail order, etc.
I answered this before but don't know where it went. We worry he is being used but he asked us to think positive. We are sick about it but can't dare say anything. He is doing his best to ask for help, a competitor just laughed in his face at Manhattan. Newer product previously ordered online or through catalogs, no prior salesperson cold calling.
I usually give $5, or 20% depending on how much I order.
I know they work hard for their money, and believe it or not, there are still a lot of people out there that NEVER tip so I try to make a small difference. I know people in my family who have NEVER tipped and do not feel like they have to. I think it's rude consider wait staff usually never makes minimum wage and something like $3.35 plus tips, so, they are very dependent on tips to make a liveable wage.
depends on if they add gas surcharge of $4 when I order -sm
If not, I give a few dollars per pizza.  If they charge that surcharge when I call in the order then I tip less.  Some companies are charging it now and some are not, and it does not depend where they are delivering to.
The pizza place we order from
I have assumed that would go to the driver.
yes! order an appetizer - they are huge, enough for 2 (or more). NM

Well, he or she won't have the sleep study, but may order one for *you.* LOL sm
I can't believe it; I'm communicating like some of my docs now, with the unfortunate wording.

I think DNA are in order for Jackson kids
I have seen the kids, all 3 of them and without a doubt do not think those are Michael Jackson's kids. One by a surrogate, well all 3 because apparently Debbie Rowe gave up her claim to kids for money and after they came out from behind the costume masks, there is not 1 thing, not 1 that looks like they are mixed, one kid is a towhead, the others have no facial features, hair nor any skin characteristics that resemble their father. I doubt this would ever be done but frankly have thought from the start Jackson was not the father and furthermore after staying behind the masks, blankets and things the children were behind for so long, thought then about covering up for the fact there was no blackness there.
It's nice, but food prices insane and food is really bad,

I just realized that they are all lined up in order of their ages!
Max is the oldest (the one on the far left), and he will be 6 on Christmas day. Bailey (middle) just turned 4 this past summer, and scooter (end) just turned 2 this summer.
Tell them, my own boss, years ago no restraining order
for a husband. They could beat you and half kill you and you were considered their property. I know because have been there.
I once called in a pizza order to be picked up
and the guy on the phone said off-handedly....I don't need to charge you the extra dollar since it is not being delivered. I asked if that dollar went to the delivery person and he sheepishly said no. Really ticked me off.
And where did the $$ come from in order to have the fertility treatments and in vitro in the first p
I had a close friend who ironically was an obstetrical nurse who went through three trials of all this, and with medical insurance it cleaned her and her husband's bank account out, ironically, they ended up adopting a toddler and she then became pregnant NATURALLY!!! but anyway, I know first-hand the expense, what gives in this case, the parents had no money, as I mentioned below, this was reported on CNN and MSNBC.
Can't stop shaking my head in amazement! And if she were "obsessed" as a teenager with having babies for the sake of having babies, shouldn't the parents have gotten her some SERIOUS psychhiatric help, there is a big problem here, this young lady has unbelievable psychological issues that need to be addressed fast, and for her own happiness? Apart from financial, how does one mother adequately nurture and love each of these babies as individuals, all 14, giving them all the love, attention, care, instructions, etc., that they all so richly need and deserve in their little lives???
AND WALMART canceled order-article inside..sm

Wal-Mart: We're not afraid to say Merry Christmas

No. 1 retailer has decided to abandon its generic 'Happy Holidays' greeting in favor of 'Merry Christmas.'

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Wal-Mart has told its employees that it's OK to once again greet shoppers by saying "Merry Christmas" this holiday season instead of the generic "Happy Holidays."

CNN confirmed that Wal-Mart will announce Thursday that it plans to use the phrase "Merry Christmas" in products and around its stores this holiday season.

The announcement comes a year after religious groups such as The American Family Association and The Catholic League boycotted retailers including Wal-Mart last holiday season for excluding the word "Christmas" from products sold in stores.

"We, quite frankly, have learned a lesson from last year," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Linda Blakley told USA Today in a separate report. "We're not afraid to use the term 'Merry Christmas.' We'll use it early, and we'll use it often."

Besides resurrecting its Christmas pitch, the retailer is also determined to be the leader in this year's holiday price wars.

The November-December holiday shopping period is a critical time for merchants since it can account for as much as 50 percent of their profits and sales.

To that end, Wal-Mart was the first out of the gate to chop prices on toys and electronics much ahead of its competitors like Target (Charts), Toys 'R Us, Costco (Charts) and others.

To support its Christmas deals, the report said Wal-Mart will launch TV ads next week that trumpet "Christmas." It's changing the name of its seasonal decorations department to "The Christmas Shop" from "The Holiday Shop."

Moreover, Wal-Mart stores will play Christmas carols throughout the holiday period and about 60 percent more merchandise will be labeled as "Christmas" rather than "holiday" items, the paper said.

Made to order waffles? If you have a waffle iron (sm)
you could have fresh blueberries and strawberries and cool whip and all the waffle fixings, let them each choose how they want theirs and make it right there at a decorated table! Also bacon and eggs and maybe some hasbrowns? What a great idea!
As the saying goes - "Let lying dogs sleep" - no DNA is not in order
What on God's good earth would that accomplish? So that some sick tabloid could then publish a story about this? Those kids know MJ as their father. I don't care whether someone thinks they don't or do look like him. I have a brother in law who looks nothing - and I mean absolutely nothing - facial features, hair color, skin color, or anything, like anyone in his family or even any ancestors in his family. When husband and his sibling are together they all act alike and they all have the same smile, two of them have the same eyes, 3 of them have the same nose, and the way they say certain things they sound like each other and their parents, but not my BIL, his hair, skin color, the way he laughs, talks, or moves - absolutely nothing like his mother, father or any of his siblings. They joke that he was switched at birth, but from the time he was born he was never out of his mother's site in the hospital.

I think most of America does not need to know whether or not the children are really his. For someone to come out and say "I think a DNA is on order", the family should tell that media clown - it is none of your business, leave Michael Jackson's kids alone. They are going through enough as it is. I hope MJ's family tells them no. And I think Debbie Rowe should keep her trap shut.

Well, sorry but it's been the most interesting
and humorous thread on this board in a long time! lol
That is interesting! (sm)
My son and his girlfriend (early 20s)wizzed through it in a day.

My daughter, who just turned 20, wants to savor it, just like you. She is so sentimental because having just turned 20 and with this being the end of the HP series, she feels it is the end of an era of sorts. I believe she began reading HP in her first teen year, so this book was with her throughout all her teen years.

The other 2 are chomping at the bit to talk to her about it, but she's just taking her time...

Hope you enjoy it! I don't read HP, but maybe when I retire, I'll take it up :-)
Very interesting!

I haven't had a solid night sleep in YEARS.  I wind up taking Tylenol PM here and there when my insomnia gets really bad but I'd be curious to see if it would help--price seems right anyway!  My problem is I can't get my head to turn off...the voices...all the damn voices.

Wow, that's interesting
and something I never knew. My husband works at a car dealership and we lease very three years. I love getting a new car every three years. I'm due another one in December. On the other hand he has an older car that I'm sure we'll keep for sometime so we don't have another car payment.
interesting you should say that
My sister did this also when she was younger and she has such guilt from it. Years later when she found out she was pregnant, she had a lot of emotional issues; all related to the abortion. I think she feels deep down she was not deserving because of the choice she made so many years before; very sad to watch someone you love go through.
That is SO interesting.
I was born/raised in Miami-Dade. I moved when my son was entering HS and my daugher the 4th grade, a little over 10 years ago.

I left because of the educational system and because I couldn't afford to buy a house there.

When I read in your post that your kids did FINE, I thought to myself, that's because you are probably an awesome parent and your kids are probably pretty good by nature as well.

I'm sure mine could have gotten through it, but I would have been a basket case (single parent).

I moved a couple hundred miles north of Miami, then about 4 years later to a small town in N FL when my daughter was to enter HS, again for educational reasons. Not because the educational system was great, but because of the small town atmosphere, etc.

She did so well and she didn't get lost in the shuffle, although I doubt she would anywhere (very headstrong, vivacious, outgoig and involved). Anyhow, she's about to enter her 3rd year of college with a 3.8. Needless to say, I'm pround. I feel I was a good parent, but I give her most of the credit for just being a hardworker and good kid by nature (God gets the credit for the good by nature part, me thinks!).

I guess I digressed.... Just wanted to say, way to hang in there and congrats on raising kids in Miami LOL. I know it is possible to succeed in the face of a poor educational system, but I do believe it is harder and a challenge. I really don't think all the blame should be put on the educational system, though, because from what I saw when my kids went to school there, there was a problem with parent involvement, participation, or even knowing their kids existed. It started to become the school's responsibility to do everything basically for some of the kids and discipline was more of a concern than education. Which is why I left. My son had a class where 10% was teaching and the rest was the teacher yelling at the students.

And no, there was no spanking there. It was the small-town school that did the whoopins.

Again kudos for getting through it!
I don't get what's interesting or different about that. nm
x
Not at all interesting...
I am so sorry about Gloria but yes, it hurts when someone you love will not accept you.  I am taking a chance here but I really do not care.  I came out to my mom at 19 as she had gay friends.  Her reaction was to drag me from psychiatrist to psychiatrist but in 1975 it was taken off the "mental, deviation" DSM.  Even when I lived with someone for 13 years she did not acknowledge it - we were just roommates.  She will never accept it and I respect that.  We have a great relationship otherwise but its sad to think that she would rather see me alone and unhappy than to be gay.  I am grateful though that all my other family members and friends accept me for who I am.  It just saddens me that people cannot accept other people for who they love.
Very interesting
What a great way to think about our history. I wish I had your teachers. Mine made it so uninteresting. I struggled through both grammar and high school and barely passed. However my older sister had the same teachers I did and she excelled at it, so I have to admit that it probably wasn't the teachers but me. Just watching the series really makes you thankful for all our founding fathers did and all they risked. Your so lucky to live in Philadelphia. I would love to live back in that area. I grew up in Connecticut so we learned a lot about colonial days and what it was like. Plus my mom taught us all the skills they used to do (quilting, candle making, canning, etc) in colonial days. She told us if we ever get to a point where we don't have the modern conveniences of electricity or heat or cooking on an electric stove we're going to have to know how to survive. I now live in Oregon and I sure do miss the east coast. I think as I'm reading about history now I will think about your comments about putting things in perspective. My DH says that too. I am definitely getting David McCullough's book now and looking forward to the read.
It will be interesting to see what the
investigation reveals.  As of yet, they have not found the supposed girl who called in, so we have no idea what is true and what is not true.  We have no idea if teenage girls are married to adult men.  The point of the investigation is to discover whether that is true.  Personally, I think it is best to wait before making a judgment about that.  We all know the media is far from accurate these days.
