A friend of mine is an IRS agent. She investigates fraud and also works with people who are having problems paying their taxes. They take all sorts of training for working with the taxpayers. And from the stories she tells me, it sounds like they are willing to work out payment plans. But she puts up with a lot of grief, too, including people who scream at her about how "unfair" taxes are, etc. I wouldn't want her job for anything!
