Pirate Tax
That is a hoot - I can't wait to tell my husband. It is that way in Nevada too. You sort of have to buy a car you can afford to pay the registration fees on every year or you are out of luck and pass out when the renewal notices come out. Some are so bad you could buy a beater car to drive to work for the same prices as your car tags. Every year, year after year, after year. Kind of discourages you to have multiple vehicles.
