Kwanza

Can anyone help me with Kwanza? I would like to develop traditions for my great-niece and nephew. They are biracial. I am Caucasian, but am determined to educate them on their heritage. I know nothing about it, other than it is for the African race. In fact, I would really appreciate it if someone would educate me on whether to say African American or Black when in conversation. My not to dear niece and her not so dear live-in will do nothing for the kids. I am determined to see that they grow up to be normal, productive adults. P.S. I hate Welfare - what a mindset they are in! TIA
