I can just see hubby now! Sitting on the couch in camo face paint and camo clothes, a helmet with shreds of fabric on it that match the couch fabric, just waiting for Mr. Rat to show his beady little eyes!
I had a problem with a mole city in my yard many years ago. Over an acre of lawn and it looked like a major highway was being installed by those critters. I tried every mole product on the market to no avail. I could watch them tunnel, you'd actually see a mound of dirt being pushed by one. I pulled a DH move as mentioned above, but instead of a rifle I had very long spike with the intentions of spearing these things one at a time if I had to because this was WAR! I stood there at the end of a mole run, spike raised over my head all warrior-like, and waited. When the little mound of dirt started to move, I just couldn't do it. What a wuss, huh? I gave up and moved.
