I just spit my coffee out...how much

can you get for trailers these days? Honey, grow a thick skin and quit trying to prove you're something you're not! How about a sense of humor.....I always find those that have to boast about what they have actually have the least.

Awaiting your snappy, defensive comeback...

Words that aren't words. Top of the list? Conversate.
PLEASE!

Makes me cringe and shudder in disgust.
Go spit! (sm)
Snorkel masks fog up all the time. To stop that from happening, you rub the inside of the glass with seaweed. Chances are you don't have seaweed hanging around your house. When you are snorkeling and can't find seaweed, next best thing is spit. Yeah, I know. You spit in your mask and rub it on the glass, swish it in the water and you are good to go. If you don't want to spit, there are products you can buy to defog stuff.

You can Google: spit antifog and go to the site named JAWS. They offer a product actually called Spit Antifog and it's good on 'anything that fogs', including windshields, ski goggles, and eye glasses. Even Amazon.com sells it. Not as fun as seaweed, not as gross as spitting on your glasses, but probably as effective!

mine spit his out at
3 months and used his thumb instead. He is 6 and I still catch him sucking his thumb in his sleep. At least you can take away a pacifier. I say don't let them have it after about 18 months. They don't need it then, it is a crutch.
Oh wow! Look at the spit and vinegar!

'Tit's okay.  I'm just psyched a few people clicked on the link!  Right before I went to bed last night there were only about 5 clicks to see what I wrote, and one of them was mine makin' sure the link worked!

Right after I posted, there was a woman in the stall pulling the baby (okay, foal) out of the mamma horse (mare).  I still don't know if it was a boy (colt) or a girl (filly), but haven't logged on yet today to see if they put something on their website to tell one way or another.  I don't see any nuggets hanging down, but I don't think the camera zooms in to check under the hood.

That website, marestare.com has oodles of live cams posted on the internet for people to watch horses (even donkeys!) give birth.  My boss was on IM last night and I let her know and both she and her daughter got to watch it.  I think they are hooked!  Good clean entertainment...well, maybe not CLEAN...even I was ooged out at seeing what I can only imagine was the placenta hanging out of the horse until she expelled it.  But still, of all the junk out there on the internet...good stuff in my opinion!

I'm so mad I could spit nails!!!

Okay, let me start off by saying, I'm writing this for the primary purpose of venting.  I'm not asking for advice or expecting support, but I would appreciate no bashing on this one.

I have 2 boys playing little league this year on the same team.  Last night they had a game against the 1 team I really wanted them to beat.  I absolutely cannot stand 1 of the kid's mothers on the other team.  She is at every sports function and likes to run everything.  She is very pushy and will do anything to have her kid come out on top (suck up to the head coaches, offer to run the boosters, make ridiculous posters to hang on her front porch for the kids on the bus to see).  You get the picture?

Ordinarily I keep my distance from her because just the sound of her know-it-all voice gets on my nerves.  Last night I stood in the same spot I always stand in.  My kids were the home team and I was near the first baseline (my kids play first and second base and pitch).  She ends up 3 feet from me.  The first couple of innings were fine.  Let me say that I do not boo the other team or make any remarks at all about their players.  I am there to cheer my sons' team on and my sons.

Now to the technicalities, the last 2 games we have been short an outfield ump.  The only ump we had was the one behind the catcher.  Usually when this happens, if there's someone in the bleachers who's willing to ump the outfield, they can make $10.  Last night, this guy volunteers, who happens to be this other woman's dad (hence, the grandfather of a kid on the opposing team).  As unhappy about this as I was, I said nothing.  I figured he deserved the benefit of the doubt.

He made several calls early on that seemed fair, so I pretty much dismissed the bias I thought he might have.  Then about halfway through the game, we have a runner on first and third and our kid up to bat.  He hits it and the runner on first goes to second while the runner on third goes home.  The ball made it to the infield and the shortstop tries to catch the runner going to second.  Our runner makes it second base just before the other kid does and the other kid ends up on top of him and he drops the ball.  Now, the outfield ump (gramps), calls our kid safe and we got a run in.  The catcher ump turns around and calls the kid out, saying it was a forced play and he didn't have to tag the kid and he thinks the other kid made it to the base first.  How he saw that from his distance is beyond me.  Secondly, when he called the kid out after the fact, he gave no explanation for it.  The coaches didn't even know.

Now this is when I got a litte irritated.  I yelled out that our kid was on the base first and the other ump called him safe.  I'll admit I was a little heated and was talking rather loudly to my mom.  I was not talking about any of the kids.  I was stating that the other ump's eyes (catcher's ump) must be pretty good to see that far away when the ump who was right there called him safe (gramps).  I probably did go on a little longer than I should have, but it not only cost us a run, it also gave us 3 outs to end the inning.

At this point, the woman sitting 3 feet away, says "Enough already!"  I turned and said "I don't think I was talking to you!"  I then turned back to my mom and the 1 coach and asked what the call was and why.  This woman then addresses me by name and begins telling me the rules of baseball.  Now mind you, this woman has never played baseball in her life (we went to the same school) and the only kid she has in baseball a son younger than my oldest.  Furthermore, later on in the game, she had no clue what the infield fly rule is (and even I knew that one), my point being she doesn't know the game that well.  So after she starts telling me this, I looked at her and said "I've heard enough of out you!"

Needless to say, 2 bad calls later, we lost the game.  I'm still fuming.  I realize this is only a game and it's not our first loss.  But this woman's know-it-all attitude really has me PO'ed.  She's been picked up for shoplifting and I really wanted to explain to her what shoplifting is and why you shouldn't do it, but I didn't.  I know I'm going to have to see her at every sporting event because she pushes her kid to play sports year-round.  She had 3 kids before she even got married and milked the system for all she could.  Now she's a daycare provider and I actually took my kids to her once years ago, before I really knew her, and my kids hated going there because all she did was watch TV.  The kids had to be quiet and they had to watch her shows.  They weren't allowed to go outside to play until her soaps were over.

Okay, I feel better.  I just really needed to vent this one.  I think the next time we play them, I will stand on the opposite side of the field from her and maybe wear earplugs, so I can't hear her either.

I am so livid I could spit nails! - sm

My daughter's both take dance at a local dance studio.  Nothing fancy, nice people, etc, and have been going there now for over 3 years.  Last night my 8-year-old left her coat there (denim jacket with embroidered butterflies --from Kohl's I think) and a pink scarf.  I thought nothing of it, she'd let coats there before without problem, and I knew I'd be back there tonight for my other daughter's dance class, also I was too tired to go back (16 miles round trip) to get it....she told me she left it there when we pulled into the driveway.  So get there tonight and no jacket or scarf. Someone there actually stole it (so it appears).  I am so po'ed it is not funny.  I made a sign asking for its return, saying "lost", etc, and if anyone had accidentally taken them home with them (though they were both pretty distinctive).  I just cannot believe someone there stole them.  I see these people 9 months out of the year.  This is a very small community with hardly any crime and someone steals a coat and scarf.  I called the owner and left a message for her, hoping against hope that she took them home for some reason (they have a lost and found box), but still waiting on her call.  If no one coughs it up I am certainly going to make a lot of noise there next Tuesday night and talk to every parent and let them know that someone stole my kid's coat.

Did Misha spit out the thorns?

Coffee??

My hubby and I love McDonalds coffee.  I am currently using Folgers, but it actually tastes bitter.  Any smooth coffees out there that might be your favorite or something close to McDonalds?  Thanks.

Coffee, coffee and more coffee.

Why does she see have a cup of coffee with her
hubby each morning you ask?  BECAUSE THAT IS THE KEY TO A HAPPY MARRIAGE!  Always have a cup of coffee with your husband before he leaves for work because you can always go back to bed!  This was told to me by a woman I worked with that was passed down from her mother.  Staying in bed back in those days (before women worked outside of the home) was considered lazy.  I always get up and have a cup of coffee with my husband, and I see the kids off to school.  I can always go back to bed, but I don't.  I just start typing, which usually leads to laundry, more typing, straightening up the house, more typing, trolling this board, more typing, petting the cat, more typing, and then more COFFEE!!!!!  lol  Have fun!
oh but I think we DO get together for coffee...s/m

virtually/cyberly speaking, that is *grin*

Coffee for four?

Mission accomplished everyone!  Got an email from my mutual friend on this board and I have replied.  It is nice when you finally know a first name. I will admit I can talk you under the table about my love for dogs. At first it seemed impossible to know each one of the breeds by name when I would watch the American Kennel Club Dog Show and Westminster, but now with 167 breeds in AKC I am right up with them. However, that will quickly go to 169 when they welcome two new breeds into the club, which I think is to be very soon. When I went to a show in April they introduced the new hound, the  Plott. It is really beautiful.

Thanks for your nice comments!

don't be shy, just tell him so over a cup of coffee that you asked him out for.

Anyone grind their own coffee???
I would love to get the good coffee taste such as Dunkin Donuts and have thought about getting some to grind. Has anyone done this and if so how is it as compared to what you get in the stores? Thanks.
Got my new coffee maker from
coffeeandkitchen.com. They have several models but think I read above someone who had thermal and I went that route. My hubby thinking he was getting the best if he paid a lot more for it, got a coffee pot, Cuisinart, that I detest!! As soon as you make the coffee and pour, lukewarm. Yucko....I am now wanting to get coffee grinder. Might go back to that site and check those out.
I'm 50 and coffee was my eye opener. Don't

know what happened, but it doesn't work for me anymore.  I sleep anywhere from 6 to 8 hours and that doesn't help.  Can't seem to concentrate on work either.  LOL - Yikes, I"m a mess

RE: Need a new coffee maker
Capresso brand, either at Linens and Things, Bed, Bath and Beyond. Purchased mine at Neiman Marcus $160....absolutely worth every cented drop! It's a thermal carafe type so you never have burnt coffee taste. Always keeps coffee perfect temp, first cup to the last.
PS. RE: Need a new coffee maker
For the ultimate coffee experience = Capresso coffee maker brewing freshly ground Pete's Coffee (Kenya blend)! Mm mm mm mm mm:)
This morning before my first cup of coffee

"the cat threw up in the kitchen" right behind my chair!  I guess sleeping in on a Saturday doesn't pay off.  The cat ate too fast.  I guess she was famished.  Well it could be worse right?

Update on coffee.

I used the tablespoon method from the poster below and then measured into my cup measurer. It was almost 1/2 cup of coffee grounds. The coffee tasted just a wee bit better, but still not good enough.

I was thinking about buying some already measured coffee to see if that makes a difference, but ya can't just buy one (to test), so I think I'll play around with the measuring a little more.

I'm also going to break open the 100% Columbian coffee hubby bought and see if that makes a difference.

I had noticed that over the last few months, whenever I opened a new can of coffee, that "whoosh" never happened like it used to, so I'm thinking these stores/manufacturers are just keeping the coffee in storage too long....probably because of the high prices, people aren't buying as much. LOL

Coffee cake
Has anyone here ever made homemade coffee cake? Would you mind sharing the recipe?
COFFEE update.

Finally, after 2 months(?), we have found our coffee. There are 2 brands we found: Chock Full O' Nuts 100% Columbian and Dunkin' Donuts 100% Arabica beans.

We also changed our creamer from the store brand back to Coffee Mate. YUM! It's a pleasure to drink coffee again.

Do you like Starbuck's Coffee
Who does not like Starbucks Coffee? I don't care for it at all. It tastes to rancid to me. I'd much prefer, McDonald's then Dunkin Donuts.

I may be becoming a coffee snob
Yo, COFFEE LOVER sm
I, too, crave coffee that tastes like it smells. My son was a Starbucks manager and I know a lot about coffee as a result.

Growing regions:
African coffees are more acidic.
Colombian and South American coffees, whether robusta or arabica beans, will be earthy, muddy tasting.
Asian coffees are cleaner tasting, though can be very rich.
Kona and Jamaican coffees are often lower in caffeine and smoother, less acidic.

Roasting:
The darker the roast, the deeper the flavor. Dark roasts are said to have a bit less caffeine. Light roasts will be more acidic.

Ultimate rich cup:
Starbucks Gold Coast. It is Asian and dark roast. Not overly heavy, not muddy, not very acidic.

Sumatra. This is Asian, tends to be muddy in texture, but rich in taste. Usually dark roasted. If made in a French press, it will leave fur on your tongue!

Another good choice:
Verona. A blend of different growing regions. Dark roast. Hint of Italian espresso flavor.

Ways to make it:
I am a purist to the end. Must have freshly ground beans, I do at home. Must have filtered water.

French press:
Makes a chewable cup at times. It is espresso in texture, rich and heavy, oily in the cup. Have to have a rough grind, not a fine grind. You can't make Folger's this way.

Percolator:
Coming back as a popular way to make coffee. An antique or vintage one is better than the new ones. Has the advantage of sterilizing the water and the beans. Stronger than a drip maker, not as strong as a French press.

Drip coffeemaker:
Why? Do you want your coffee to taste like paper? Permanent gold filter is best. Tends to make the weakest coffee of the three processes I mention here.

While I like Bux coffee...there are some awfully good store brands of whole beans that are quite good.

I'll plug a local coffee brand too.
AmericanCowboyCoffee.com It is 100% pure Kona and at about $22 a lb, it is CHEAP for pure Kona. It is packaged in the oldest, continuously incorporated town in Wyoming, a place called Hartville. The store is literally right down the street from me. This is my special, after dinner, later evening, lazy Sunday morning in bed with the paper coffee.

thanks for letting me vent this!

I thank you all for your words.
It is going to be tough when we go back to the dog park and people there ask about her. I walked Sasha today, even though it was pouring down rain. We will have to learn a new way of living now.
there are 3 little words
that I say to my little pup - coffee and cookies, and he is ready to charge out the door!   I then put him in my jewel beaded doggie bag and in we go for our order!  This makes his day!   Everyone that see him laughs. One girl that works at the coffee shop took a picture of him on her camera phone to put him on a college paper she was doing!  there are days when he barks in a very different tone to try to get me to take him!   You have to see it to believe it!
so in other words--sm
she got herself pregnant, did not want to pay the consequences of HER actions, but still wanted DADDY to pay for her college expenses, and she is now profiting from ending a life....yeah...that sounds reasonable to me (not)! Maybe she should not have had sex, not gotten pregnant, and had the gumption enough to have paid for her OWN college expenses. She would still be in the position she is in now and she would have earned it ON HER OWN! JMO
no words particularly but
I hate when the doctor calls the patient elderly and they are in their 50s, or middle-aged and they are about 35 or so....   elderly primipara...
I cringe when I type a mastectomy or some kind of radical surgery on the vulva or a pelvic exenteration..
There are no words....
You had me on the floor with the instructions...but that picture is just freakin' awesome!!!
There are no words
Thank you for posting this. I will surely pass it on - as soon as I stop crying!
Way with Words
I snuck into the Bathroom last night, put a color on my hair, the works, did a facial, shaving, showering, etc., blow dry and style, put on a new modern blouse and leggings, Came out and guess what Slim (DH) Oh bout time you stopped wearing that sock cap, your hair looks da* good. Bout time you got out of them sweats... I was getting ready to go to my grandson's music recital at grade school! I thought that was mighty funny!
Can't do this in 6 words

I really appreciate your words
You have no idea. I painted a dining table and someone we knew offered me $1000 for it but I could not give it up because that meant that we didn't have one. My hubby says "so, we will go get another one and you can do another one". But they never are the same.

He offered to sell my headboard I painted. I have this huge 5 x 8 headboard I painted with a picture of a beach scene and has palm trees for the posts. He wanted to sell that off too. I was a little heart broken, cause I made it for my bed, not someone else's. I am not sure how to get past that.
So in other words, you really cannot
afford to travel elsewhere?
Beyond words
I'm SO sorry to read this. I can't imagine how humiliated and embarrassed you were, especially in front of his friends. I have my 'bad' moods and days where I don't feel so well, too, but it would never occur to me to take it out on my husband or daughter. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that, and I'm glad he left to go play golf...and I certainly hope he comes home realizing how crappy he was toward you and shows his appreciation!

Every time I read a post like this, my heart goes out to the poster and I go give my man, whom I take for granted WAY too often, a big hug and a kiss.

Hang in there, girlfriend, and don't let him bring you down ~HUG~
I like Dunkin' Donuts coffee......

speaking of coffee -- beans that is,

does anyone dip their c. beans in baking chocolate for snacks?  I heard you can do this, but wondered if they are real hard, too strong or just plain tasty this way???

I grind coffee, it's the freshest/best...

I need a new coffee maker, any suggestions?
?
OMG - COFFEE SPEW post - thanks for that!!!

I almost always have a cup of coffee right before starting work!
Sometimes I even have another one mid-shift for a pick up!
I fall out of bed, grab some coffee and
head to my office in my PJs at 6 a.m.  On my break, I change into sweats or street clothes, depending on whether or not I have to leave the house.
Question for coffee drinkers...sm

i know this might sound wierd, but I see all those yummy drinks advertised for Starbucks and I want to try one... my problem is that I don't like the strong coffee taste or smell.  The really strong taste will trigger a migraine (as does dark chocolate).  My question is...are any of those drinks lightly flavored enough that it disguises the coffee taste?  Like in a latte or in a mochasomethingorother ?I drink the intant cappuccino drinks that you buy in powdered form at the store, but those do not taste anything like real cappuccino.

Thanks in advance from the coffee virgin
