Many are against it because they

believe it to be morally wrong.  Not scary, but wrong.  Like stealing or killing or gossiping.  Many are against it because they believe God said do not do it.  (They believe he said those other things are wrong too.)  Would it make sense to say someone is afraid of gossip because they are against gossiping? 

Do you understand my point about why it is the wrong word?
