Our big loveable black Lab got sick very suddenly when he was around 7. He was obviously not going to survive without major surgery which may have prolonged his life but not necessarily have reduced his suffering. Looking back, I wish we had euthanize him sooner, but at the time we were too sad to let him go. Do what is right for your pet, but don't prolong his suffering to delay your grief. Take care.
