I used to host foreign exchange students, particularly the French, and the whole deodorant/daily bath concept was foreign to them. Not because of an inattention to hygiene, but because they're not quite as 'free' with resources as we are and I believe a more generally 'body is natural' kind of thing (although it explains why some French perfume is very strong ;) In any case, though, I found them to be very willing to adopt a "when in Rome" attitude. By no means were they unclean...they just didn't go to the pains to disguise their au'naturalness that we do.
