No tablecloth

It seems everyone uses a tablecloth. I understand wanting to keep a table looking nice but I am a firm believer that I don't buy something nice to cover it up or be afraid to use it.

I say go with no tablecloth and if you think the chargers (or anything else) might scratch it, you can pick up the stick back circles of felt at any hardware stores, drug store, wal-mart, etc for about $1 or 2. I use chargers and these work great underneath. Sure they get wet when you wash them but you will probably do them by hand anyway and they just need time to dry out before you put them away. That or peel them off and reapply new ones over the same spots after washing.

Invest in a card table (most less than $100 with 4 chairs this time of year) if you are having lots of kids and set them over there that way they can bang their silverware, spill drinks, or whatever else and you don't have to worry about your table.
