Not mandatory because it is for girls, at this point sm

I have wondered for some while if there is not a connection between HPV and prostate cancer. Given that males are infected at the same rates as females (with HPV), it should be given to boys too...who give it to us! Now, if there is ever a proven link between prostate CA and HPV, you will see it be mandatory so fast it will make your head swim.

All you have to do it look at the procedures that are done for HPV infections of the cervix. I do them all the time. Girls at 16, 17, 18 in for their 2nd and 3rd conization of the cervix. The first one may cause an incompetent cervix, the 2nd one sure will and after a 3rd you won't carry a child to term. Did you know that a standard conization procedure removes the ENTIRE transformation zone and about 1/3 of the surface of the cervix? It does... The reason it is treated so aggressively is the extremely high rate of recurrence.

Vaccinate your daughter, do it now, do not pass "GO" and collect $200.

Just so you know, I see more HPV in the under 20 group, but there are plenty of married women in their early 20s with it and trying to get pregnant who have cone after cone.

I think it should be mandatory and here's why....sm
I've had 2 miscarriages. Prior to that I was able to see the ultrasounds. The 1st time we were expecting to see a normal growing baby and found out there was only a fetal pole and I subsequently had a partial spontaneous miscarriage. The second pregnancy we had the pleasure of seeing the baby's strong heartbeat, but then 3-1/2 weeks later on another ultrasound we saw that the baby had died and had no heartbeat.

Having seen a living heartbeat makes me even more convinced that women should have to see that when they choose to have an abortion that they are indeed ending the life of a person and not just as some people want to say "a thing".

While I lost both pregnancies I feel a closer bond to both babies knowing that at one time they were growing inside of me and my husband and I were able to see that.

I know that women get pregnant when they don't expect it, but ending the life of another person doesn't correct what happened. A good friend of mine gave birth after being raped because she could not end the life of another person because of what happened to her. She gave that child up for adoption so that a couple could have a child to raise. There are alternatives for women who don't want a pregnancy. I've also had 2 friends that had abortions and both of them say that they regret it because they often wonder what their child would have been like if they had not ended the child's life.
Mandatory recycling
What do ya'll think of a city making it mandatory to recycle?  The city I live in (and will be moving from next month) has had recycling for a while, but it was by choice.  I do not choose to recycle because of all the rules that go along with it - I do recycle newspaper and phone books for the schools - but not my household items - I think the city government is just going too far in requiring everyone to recycle.  I think about the little elderly people who may not understand the rules or what can and cannot be recycled, etc.  I'm not against helping the earth - I just don't think that the government should mandate it - it's alredy in the Bible - perhaps this could be made an issue of Church and State.
oh joy. there should be a retirement age, as in mandatory. NM

Mandatory BBQ Rules!

BBQ RULES

We have entered the BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity. When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:

Routine...

(1) The woman makes the trip to the store, buys the food.

(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.

(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - beer in hand.

(4) The woman remains outside the COMPULSORY 3-METER EXCLUSION ZONE where the exuberance of testosterone and other manly bonding activities can take place without the interference of the woman.

Now here comes the important part:

(5) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine...

(6) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

(7) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is looking great. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he flips the meat.

Important again:

(8) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine...

(9) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, vegetables, utensils, napkins, sauces, dessert and brings them to the table.

(10) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:

(11) Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

(12) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed her 'night off ', and, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

Let's not have any slip-ups on this, 'kay?

Mandatory spay/neuter was just passed in Calif -
and although we already have too many laws, if we hadn't passed this one, no one would both to spay/neuter. There are SO many unwanted animals out there - often because people are too lazy, or too cheap, too uneducated about what really happens to most of these animals, (or all of the above). The mandatory spay/neuter doesn't include breeders (who will pay for a license), but helps to close down some of the backyard breeders. I once had a cat that was a beautiful purebred, confiscated from BYB who kept 100's of them in squalid, inhumane conditions.
New cervical cancer injection mandatory in Texas next year

Just heard starting next year in Texas young girls are being ordered to get the new cervical cancer injection, just passed by the governor of the state so I am sure there will be a lot of talk about this.

I agree with spay/neutering, but not with mandatory spay/neuter
If this was a feral, mandatory spay/neuter would have been useless here, not to mention it is an infringement on personal rights, it gives the government too much control. However, what is needed is tougher punishment for animal cruelty, or cruelty of any kind really. This kitten thing and the ball player with the pit bulls is just sickening, all should be punished. Quite frankly, due to the outside predators, my cats do not go outside, I fear what people could do to them more than anything else. I also did rescue for more than 20 years and now raise show cats. Mandatory spay and neuter would kill off the pedigree cats and dogs that some people totally adore. Yes, there are bad breeders, but there are far more good ones. In my 18 years in the cat fancy, I have seen some bad ones, but the good ones far outweigh the bad. Don't punish everyone for what a few are doing.
I have K girls too!
My K girls are called
Kayce and Kelly. My other name that is K that I love is the old fashioned Katherine. If I had another daughter I would name her Katherine Rose or Katherine Elizabeth.
I have 2 girls though.....- nm

Mean Girls!
Go play elsewhere, Boo! You hate guys!
2 girls, 8 and 4..........sm
Okay-
1. 8 and 4 beautiful girls
2. The 8-year-old does have a cell phone, but let me explain 1st. It is a prepaid cell phone. She is allowed allowed to dial certain numbers from this phone. I got it for her for Christmas for various reasons. My mother in-law can't hear well and LOVES to spend time with the kids. When they are they, I like for her to have a way to get ahold of us (grandma is always on the computer for IM, takes up her phone line). Also, this phone is for EMERGENCIES at school. She is a very good kid and has actually only used her phone once with permission to call my mom.
3. The 4-year-old has a TV. It is actually the 8-year-olds, but it is a "princess" tv, which apparently is not for her anymore. She gave it to my 4-year-old. No computer in room, but they do play on Dad's laptop, always with supervision.
4. No set allowance, but they do have chores and must have room clean before they go to friends' houses. 8-year-old takes care of her dog, 4-year-old takes care of the bird.

The girls are 7 and 9
Their friends all have the "real" American Dolls and they have read the books so they want the American Girl Dolls that are in the books from the library and catalogs we get in the mail. They have seen the movies too and loved Kit Kittridge and her friend Ruthie so had their eye on them. Very, very expensive toys but they take good care of their things so I hope I can pick somethings up second-hand.

Thank you for all for all of your help.
All girls are different
My daughter started exactly on her 11th birthday, but her good friend started when she was 10. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
I'd let the girls
People will usually be very sympathetic to the girls' feelings and will try to reassure them that the kitten will have a good home. You know your kids best, of course, but I think it helps when they know that the kittens are being adopted by nice, caring people.
Ballet for little girls?

Has anyone had or have their 3-year-old daughter enrolled in ballet class? I'm thinking of doing this, as my daughter constantly asks for it. Do they get anything out of it? I already have dreams of my prima ballerina daughter going onto bigger things, and she's only 3! I'm taking her to check out a class for free this week and will see how it goes. It's only for once a week and then a show they put on in June. Just wondering if anyone has any experiences to share. Thanks so much!

little girls being used as guineapigs for them sux..

and if you don't get my point(s) - perhaps you weren't around for DES/thalidomide.....

Wetnursed only girls
My wet-nurse babies were all girls - and I would breast-feed both mine and the paid clients at the same time - one on one breast and the other on the other - I was paid more as a wet-nurse than as an MT - "laughed all the way to the bank"
yeah, U might be right but 11 y/o girls...sm

are not VISCIOUS!!!  Kim Basinger is viscious!  She has pumped the daughter with all kinds of unnecessary garbage, as probably as Alec Baldwin too...both of them are using BAD PARENTING.

There is no such thing as a BAD kid....only bad parenting.......

Gilmore Girls Fan
Well basically Rory had a meltdown because she got turned by the New York Times and Chicago Sun Times said they were not hiring. So she called back to the Providence Newspaper and the position was filled. So Loralei and Rory spent some time together so Rory could get cheered up. So anyway went to karaoke bar and Loralei got a little tipsy and Rory asked her to sing so she did and sang I will always love you and Luke walked in and smiled. He also started wearing the baseball cap that Loralei gave him in one of the earlier seasons for Christmas. The show ended with Logan showing up to ask Loralei's permission to ask Rory to marry him which I hope Rory says NO!! Also Lane and Zack, Zack got a lead guitarist gig and is going to go on tour for 2 months. Hope this helps you get your fix for the week ;-)
would rather raise 5 girls than 1 boy..sm

When boys grow up and become men, their *toys* become MUCH more expensive than girls (think boats, cars, motorcycles, ATVs, planes, trains, etc.).

I had such success with my girl that I want more girls *lol*

I have 2 girls and so far so good - sm
they have bad days sure, but so do boys. The people I know with boys note that their kids are always on the go; boys certainly seem to have a lot more energy than girls. But my girls can get whiny from time to time and drive you nuts too, but a friend of mine has 1 son and he can drive her totally nuts too; granted my can play together, he gets bored from time to time. They are well behaved when we go out 90% of the time, and if they act up we leave plain and simple. So they know to act good or else it is their loss. My 8-y/o (9 in August)is just starting to get some slight body hair, my DH is totally dying at the thought of her "growing up". I'm not too worried about the puberty phase and hormones, I never went nuts or told my parents I hated them or acted out, etc. Yeah, I did some stuff they never knew about and I expect mine will too; but I hope I can rub some common sense off on them and give them the tools they need to make good and imformed decisions as they get older. But considering everything we have been through the last 2+ years with my younger one and her kidney cancer, they have turned out very well and with any luck will continue to do so, I'm going to try my best that they don't turn into spoiled brats. We have recently started an allowance of sorts, they don't get it if they work is not done and they also can buy their own games, toys if they want, but not to whine to us if they use up all their money on 1 thing and then want something else. So they are learning to manage their money. My 7-y/o is much better at this, and my 8-y/o is learning this the hard way, but I expect will master this in time. I am just glad they are older now, so much easier when they can be more independent.
If the girls know about it, then I guess it's okay
If not, then no. I grew up with a girl whose father snooped through everything of hers, her room, her handbag, etc. To this day, she has no use for him. So, there you go. Also, I truly believe there are some things you just don't want to know so why go looking?
Now maybe young girls won't look up to her as a

They do this ALL the time, especially girls (sm)
Mine just finished first grade and this type of thing happens at school on a daily basis on the playground, with no parents to intervene. They just go round and round with it - I'm your friend, I'm not your friend, I'm her friend, etc. You did fine - don't even worry about it - it is perpetual!!
And shocking that these were *girls*...sm
Who did this. Usually it's the male of our species that does things like this. But girls are becoming just as violent and aggressive in our society now too. My God.
I have 2 girls with the same "problem"... sm

I have two daughters who have had the same problem... one is now 13 with a size 10-11 women's shoe (depending on the shoe), but when she was in elementary, she was also heads taller than not only the kids in her grade, but the 2 grades ahead of her too!!! :P  My other daughter is 10 and wears a women's size 8-1/2, and I think she might outgrow her sister....

Sounds to me like she is just going to be a tall girl... and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.... I think there are a lot more tall girls now than there used to be... and if they are going to be tall, then they need the feet to support it!! :D

Fortunately, there are tons of good shoes out there now in those sizes... I have no problems finding cute shoes for my girls that are age appropriate and fit properly... we love Payless and Famous Footwear! :D

Good luck to you and your daughter... I am sure she is beautiful... and if she feels at all awkward about her height... you can assure her that the other kids WILL eventually catch up! :D

There were 5 Golden Girls

Sophia, of course!!!.....Wise-crackin' momma...she never missed a beat!   It's all in the timing!

Have him vent to YOU at the end of the day, not the girls.

I was divorced when my girls were 3 and 8. My
oldest daughter tells me that all she could remember was me crying and being upset all the time and how much better it was to have a calm household after we separated. They are now 18 and 13 and seem to be doing fine.
girls fighting
sure did.  I can tell you how old they are, old enough to know better,  Speaks volumes about the parents is all I can say.  They should be tried as adults.  All are being held without bond until a hearing sometime today.  Hope they get what they deserve and the mother of the girl getting beat up needs to be filing civil suits as well.
Obviously, yes this is just you! These girls have been violated. sm
Let me see.......how many teen CHOOSE to have sex with 40 year olds. I am not really meaning by choice but what is ACCEPTED in their culture/religion. None. I live in the dam bible belt and hate it. I am not religious. I am realistic and this whole case scenario was not even realistic. The State of Texas by returning those children made a HUGE mistake. A cult is a cult is a cult but we should protect the children from these types of situation.
Girls weekend? I'm in....
Those are the best. A new place each time. What fun that would be!
Thank you so much. I am definitely doing this for the girls this Xmas now. nm

Need to know why girls are so mean these days?
My son dated a girl for about a year in middle school.  Her mother called the house constantly to let me know how she did not want her daughter dating at all, and wanted them supervised at all times.  I consented to this, but  my son finally got tired of dating the "not able to date" girl and broke up with her.  Since then, it has been 12 months of holy heck!  She bad mouths him behind his back at school and even convinced the girl who asked him to  Sadie Hawkins to "change her mind."  Since when did girls get so ferocious?  My son has had to date outside of the high school because she has tarnished his reputation with the other girls in his group.  And finally, this was a nonsexual relationship because it was chaparoned 100% of the time, and I don't know where the "Splendor in the Grass" psychosis is coming from!  So what is an overprotective mother supposed to do?  Especially, since the daughter does not seem to realize this was her own mother's idea to begin with?
I'm 29 and still friends with a lot of girls from HS
and most of us know how to sew, cook, bake, etc. We learned it in Junior High and High School. I have a couple friends who sew their Halloween costumes every year and they're awesome at it!! I know the basic stuff, but prefer to only sew by hand - I hate sewing machines! So, I don't think it's necessarily a generation thing, maybe more of a regional thing. I grew up and still live in the Midwest (just north of KC). They also still teach Home Ec in schools here.
pedophiles can be girls
poor kid, now the whole school knows about it.
I was told by some girls
when I was in grade school that it was a nasty thing to do, that it was supposed to make you like boys and want to kiss them. Mean girls :)
I would never bash the girls.
But she puts herself out there. She craves the limelight, was on 6 major magazine covers the first month (that was on the news last night), and she always seems to get her digs in when she wants. As far as I'm concerned, she's fair game.
I don't have a problem with my girls - sm
having sex before they marry. My mom wanted me to wait of course and when I was 15 or so told me this, I told her it wasn't gonna happen. I did recognize though that I was not ready to have sex until my senior year. All my friends but 1 were 15 when they started having sex. They went through the dramas of thinking they were pregnant, 1 did get pregnant and miscarried, so that kind of put me off too. I was 17 and had graduated HS by the time I became sexually active, and had gone to a clinic and got on the pill in advance as well. The boys at my school tended to lie/brag so I had no great desire to date anyone from my school, the few I had all lied about what we did and did not do, and so I tended to date the boys from the "local" catholic HS, though I was not catholic. --I will be advising my girls to (1) wait until they are in a stable relation and love the guy, (2) get on BCP in advance, (3) have condoms, (4) try to wait until after they get out of HS, if not at least their senior year. I don't think girls are emotionally ready for the responsibility of sex until they are at least 17. Girls equate sex with love and marriage for the most part and can get pretty dumbbb. Most of the guys just want to get laid at 17/18, certainly are not looking at marriage at that point and I don't think should be.
wow had forgotten. About girls and
bikes, we were not allowed to wear pants or shorts to school, hence, we were in shirts, dresses and shoes we called flats. It was the new style, away from saddle oxfords and bobby sox of the 50's, so bikes were out as far as going to school. Besides, I was 2-3 miles from school and rode the bus. Thanks for the memories.
I think the girls are much better than the guys this year...sm
it'll be interesting to see how many guys actually "survive" once they get it down to 12 contestants.
Please take the phones out of the little girls' hands!
Just got thru watching AI and am disappointed YET AGAIN that Sanjaya was not voted out. It's gotta be all those little 13-year-old girls that are voting for him, because there's not one lick of talent there. Granted Stephanie wasn't at her best last night, but she was at least 10 times better than Sanjaya. They all were, for that matter! Oh well, I still don't believe he will make it much longer. At least I hope not.
that is - half the girls - also if they do pass this - sm
how long do they "have" to watch it, 1 minute, 5 minutes, what, a half hour until they change their mind? Once they get this passed, believe me, they will try something else, give an inch, they take a yard.
She wasn't going to do Easter for the girls, so they did. sm
It's ok.  Every kid, even at that age, regarding you IMHO, deserves a great Easter basket.  Get over it and stay out of it.
Please tell me I'm not the only Gilmore Girls fan left and ...

...that someone can tell me what happened last night.  I wasn't home and my VCR is so hard to program, I didn't have time.

Boy...girls are usually a constant stream of....

some problem...too fat, too thin, hair too curly, hair too straight, catty, insecure or think they are a princess, talk constantly, expensive for clothing, hobbies, classes, etc., mouthy, periods, hormones, try to wrap daddies around fingers to get their way, and can come home pregnant! Raised both...boys hands down!

I will really miss the Gilmore Girls...

I guess I can watch the rest of American Idol, now.  But it's just not the same.

We're also going to see Dream Girls...sm
I got the Publix 1/2 off deal for the Wednesday night show so we could afford the orchestra level seats.

We go to local playhouses, i.e. Theatre on the Square in Marietta, Kudzu Theatre (Roswell) Alliance Theatre, Theatre on Main (Acworth) and used to like Big Top Theatre but they've just shut down and the head guy moved to Florida after the events that shut down the new Cobb Performing Arts Center in Kennesaw. I still can't believe that happened after they spent $35 million to build it and it was only open a few months but that zoning stuff got them into trouble.

Anyway, we watch for shows and get tickets for the ones we know we'll enjoy. Our teenager babysits the youngest child for the shows that aren't acceptable for a 7-year-old to see.
Eventually, those girls will have their day of reckoning - sm
and it will be their turn to die and cross the *Rainbow Bridge*. As the story goes, before you're allowed to cross that bridge into Heaven (or whatever you perceive the afterlife to be), you are greeted by ALL of the animals you've ever known in the world, and they get to speak for or against you. I'm sure that kitten, and probably lots of other animals before it, will have a lot to say, and those girls will be spending THEIR afterlives in the Other Place.
