Not wills, but we had to have a bunch of stuff

notarized and needed 2 witnesses for some government paperwork, and our bank provided the notary and 2 witnesses free of charge, so like others said, check with your bank for sure.  By the way, how did you like the the Suze Orman will service?  We don't have wills, and I had actually looked at that in the past, too.  Thanks!

Wills
Differs by states somewhat, but generally witnesses should not be named in will or be family members.  Banks all have notaries -- and they are validating your signature only, not the content of the document.   I'm sure they would also provide witnesses for your signature.
Wills...
I like her site a lot and thought the will kit was very user-friendly. She has her lawyer also speak in there. I'm still learning about wills and revocable trusts, but she explains things really well. I have one for me and now have to get one for dh. He jokes and says he'll just write his on a napkin while mine looks great, lol. I also love watching her show every Saturday night. I plan on calling my bank and asking what they do offer. Thanks!
7 wills on Anna's son and they go to
Howard Stern? Just heard this on the news a minute ago. Unbelievable. This is getting as thick as pea soup now. Something rotten in Denmark I sayeth.
Can we talk Wills?

I just bought a Will through Suze Orman's site (love her!), but was wondering about the part where you need to bring 2 witnesses with you to get it notarized. Has anyone done this or know how to go about getting this all done? The people I would trust to go with are in the Will, so what do you do? Can I go to the library or Currency Exchange? I watch her show and finally cracked down to get one since I am 39 with a family. Any experience or advice would be great. You can also e-mail me.

Thanks!

Wills cannot be CHANGED. They can be
be contested, but the involved heirs have to agree and consent to the change in distribution.
Without their agreement nothing can be changed.
need advice about wills
my 91 yo grandmother died last week. Her only heirs are my sister and I and a nephew of hers. For 30 years our grandmother has told us that basically her only goal in life was to see that we were well-provided for after she dies. She sent us detailed lists of all the furnishings in her home and what they were worth (all antiques from the 30s). She also had 2 CDs that were quite large (6 figures) and she lived off the interest from those.  She was placed in a nursing home 2 years ago. Her home and furnishings were sold at auction about that time.  She provided us with the name of her attorney. There is a storage facility holding the last of her furniture from the assisted living center and various personal items.  Now we are getting the run around from the attorney. He didn't even know my name when i called him! (He has been my grandmother's attorney for years and years). When I asked about the items in storage he said I would have to wait for him to send me the letter (he did not say copy of the will, just letter). He was not able to discuss anything with me until I received the letter. I am flabbergasted and hurt about the whole situation. My grandmother was alert and with all of her faculties right up until the end. Now I think the attorney and the nephew are conspiring (the nephew is a bit of a pansy and whenever my sis and i try to discuss the situation from him he gets all nervous). What recourse do i have if we are "cut out" of things. We have letters from my grandmother stating what her wishes were concerning my sister and I. I am just sick about the whole situation but don't want to appear to be "just in it for the money". I'm not, but I would like something of my grandmother's to pass onto my children at some point, even if they are just photographs. Any advice? Thanks in advance.
Just to let you know, wills are not iron clad
and can be broken. If that was her child, the one who was written out supposedly, he would come before grandchildren and others in a court of law. Did you visit your grandmother in the nursing home and was she of sound mind? My great-uncle died and did not have my mother, his niece and another niece, in his will. Made no difference. They hired a lawyer, went to court and actually wound up with $7,000 each even though not even mentioned in the will.
Wills can be changed, they are not iron clad
I know because my mother and her cousin contested her uncle's will and each came out with $7,000 from their contesting.
Thanks a bunch! nm

Thanks a bunch, ER MT!!!!! nm

I have a bunch

thanks a bunch!!!

A bunch of MTs went over to
the "other" board. I just don't like that format over there though. I've tried, but I can't get used to it and much prefer this one.
Thanks a bunch!
It was my popups. I knew it had to be something with my computer because my husband did get the popup on his last night, but it was late, he was busy on his computer, and the pics were on my computer.

Thanks again, I appreciate it!
Thanks a bunch
I am going to e-mail back a little later. Right now I have a bit of work to do and my older son and I are sick, but wanted to let you know I appreciate you taking the time to write.

Have a great day!
thanks a bunch for these links! nm

I just recently saw her on a bunch of
with her new body, etc.  So maybe instead of rehab, she went to a spa and got into shape, cause she does look great (at least on the magazine covers), but certainly desperately needs rehab and lots of therapy.  She is a beautiful girl, can't say very talented, but it is a shame to see her so out of control and living so dangerously...
You need Dr. Phil, not a bunch of MTs.
Your husband has big problems.
What a bunch of kooks

No, but as an ortho MT, I have typed a bunch of them.

Thanks a bunch, great tips!

I'd be moving that bunch out of state!
What's the lowest-populated state?

Either that or I'd change the trim to iron somehow. Wouldn't that be funny to see them run up and try to chomp on iron? Attitude adjustment!

I wonder if it is some dental condition.

My dad's squirrels insist on stealing branches from his variagated hydrangea. He actually has to cover the bush with netting to foil them.

It's not as if they even use all the branches for their nests. They leave some scattered around the yard, the dorks.
And a whole, whole, WHOLE bunch dont care.

Well, they are fun....my husband made a bunch of them (sm)
out of PVC pipes for my son's boy scout troop...they loved them. But then they were told by a ranger that they couldn't do it because of the mess they left behind. We had thought that out in the woods the animals and bugs could eat them but they didn't like the idea because it might attract wildlife near the camp sites.

I think I would just ask the parents before getting them. They are a lot of fun though, and if they have a natural area where they can use them I don't see an issue.
Whoa, what's with YOU? You're asking a bunch of mostly women MTs who probably
At least you got some suggestions. You ought to lighten up.
I agree...just a bunch of yentas sitting around...
without much to say...I tend to think their main audience is the stay at home mom or others who most likely only get their news from them, don't seek out other sources. Whoppi Goldberg is Rosie only she is smart enough to research what she talks about.
Bunch of cold fish on this posting.....nm

Bunch of money-hungry people
I think this is so ridiculous. Like these artists don't make millions of dollars already.

I think the artists should be fined for not giving a kick back to all the teachers who taught them and police officers who protected them as they were growing up and becoming the stars they are today.

I'm sorry, I just think our society is so twisted. Sports stars and hoochies who sing terribly but shake their breasts at you make millions, but the ones responsible for our safety and the education of our society make crap.

And people wonder why our society is in the crapper!

Okay, off my soapbox now :)
any Dancing with Stars fans finding this bunch -

Big bunch of lies...look at all the inconsistencies in ages/virgin when married 14yrs ago, but has a
Please see a psychiatrist. You are obviously seeking attention by posting lies.

Furthermore, you said he was your prince charming...then you said he talks like he is retarded and that people have asked you if he is retarded. What was so 'princey' about a man who sounds like a retard and has psoriasis all over his body. Why would you have married him in the first place?

How does a woman who was a virgin almost 14 years ago end up with a child who is already 14?

You make it seem as though you are always without food but you are "extremely overweight" after having what you described to be a perfect body 14 years ago. How did that happen?
No, because they always put stuff in the L&F -sm
so why would this time be any different? Plus she probably would have called me at home to tell me that she took them home, she knows I am there 3 nights out of 5. Yes, I hope I am upset over nothing, but I fear that is not the case. Just makes you wonder if you can trust anyone these days.
GPS stuff

As a family we do something called "Geocaching" (geocaching.com) which uses GPSs and coordinates from the internet to do a 21st century treasure hunt.  Over the past 5 years we've had both Garmin and Magellan devices . . . if I had an option, I'd choose a Garmin.  Our first Magellan let me download maps, etc... which showed me where restaurants, hotels, etc... were, which was a super bonus on vacation with a 1-year-old and a cranky need-food-now mommy!  We vacation in Maine, and there are only so many roads, so if you can't read a map, a GPS won't help much  !  Have you tried out "www.thegpsstore.com"?  They have reviews, etc... that might help you sort out what you need, and what you really don't.  Some systems may cost $75, but you won't be able to download maps or anything.  However, the big bucks versions might have too many bells and whistles that will just make it more of a hassle than a joy.  I'd also suggest a sporting goods store, i.e. Cabellas, Dicks Sporting Goods, EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) since the salespeople will more likely have a clue about how to use the thing and be able to tell you pros/cons of each system.

Sorry for the ramble . . . hope I didn't confuse the issue even more!

Never, but I look at the stuff on there a lot.
Money is tight right now, so I never bought, but most of the stuff is cool. Some of its just weird - once I saw homemade reusable tampons made out of bamboo and yarn I think.
I do stuff like that
I have to say that probably it is the thin skin of your daughter and not your lack of experience with death. I rarely say anything to my teenager (when they are upset) that is the "correct" thing to say. I think the drama is actually coming from these young people's first experiences with death, and I have found that teenagers can be profoundly sensitive to even the deaths of people they do not know.

You are just "mom." Your job is to keep her from going over the emotional cliff. Even when it is a member of your own family, that is still your primary job. That "everything is going to be okay" is the correct thing to say.
fun stuff!
I jumped on my sister in an elevator because I'm cool like that and because someone offered me 1,000,000 dollars.

My son's did not turn out so well at all . . .

I loved my brother under your bed because that's how I roll.
If he wants to come and get his stuff, that
is fine. But I would not have him bring an officer, I would have him set a time to do so and YOU have an officer there with your paperwork on the restraining order.
I'm sorry all that stuff happened to you, too, and
am more glad that you moved on as well!  Thanks for bringing me perspective again. I have to run now -- off to the happy world of MTing.
The stuff is awesome!
Works when nothing else does.

Anyone have MP3/IPOD stuff?? sm
i'm thinking of getting an MP3 player so when i walk i won't have this bulky CD player in my pocket.  i know you download music on it, but can you take one of your own music CDs, put that music on the computer and then download that music off the computer into your MP3?  did that make sense?  just thought i'd see if anyone here knew how that stuff works.  thanks!
Then you might want to try some fresh stuff.
I just made a turkey breast today that was very tasty. In a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, I chopped up some fresh rosemary, thyme, sage, and a couple cloves of crushed garlic. Then, I just rubbed that onto the (skinless) turkey breast.

I oven-roasted that with some vegetables, but you could put that on chicken breasts and bake or grill them. They'd be good either way.

Good luck!
Has anyone else watched this stuff?
I watched this on CNN last night and this guy had been planning this for a LONG time. Even the news station had to edit the video because of language and could not show all the pictures either, much less read anything of what he wrote. One newscaster did say, however, after reading over some of what this guy was spouting off in his video, was that the whole motive behind any of this was envy. Envy of what other people had, as far as possessions. He even idealized himself as a martyr, comparing himself to Jesus Christ. This guy had been stated as being an imminent danger to himself and others two years ago by a clinical psychologist! Now really, I seriously do not think any of his sick psychosocial mental fixations had anything to do with him being from korea! He was just a walking time bomb that exploded. JMO
I love that stuff too
It usually takes everything right off my stove in just a few minute. I also sometimes use that old fashioned stuff that now comes in a creamy liquid formula now called Barkeepers Friend. It even takes pot marks off my sink. I also recently discovered those cool white Magic Erasers Plus and now those three products are all I need except dish soap and window cleaner! Why did they wait so long to invent those Magic Erasers anyway?
They have jobs & pay for all their own stuff. Just have to do away

strong stuff
I use to sell the stuff and let me tell you the backing should not hurt the flooring.  Actually, I took a screwdriver and tried to scrap, chip or just try to mar the surface of the flooring and I could not even scratch it at all.
Follow up on this cat stuff
I just got back from the store and bought some hairball control dry cat food. The older cat I spoke about drinks water so no problem there. I got the dry as well as several cans of wet hairball control so probably will mix a little of the wet with dry to start out with. I also bought glove to run over the cat and get rid of some of the excessive fur. This is not a common shedding as she has had for sometime, surprised she has any left. I have hairball gel that I could give them in addition to this. Thanks for the insight!
you can now get the freeze stuff OTC
