I never tempt fate. If I want to be off from work do not make up a story in order to get off. I always say I want to do so and so, don�t want to jinx that. I definitely will knock on wood when I respond to a question like "is your shoulder feeling better?" Knock, knock. Not suspicious, just want to be on the safe side.
