a beauty contest or a pick the worst singer contest to see how long that person will stay.

This is getting ridiculous.

When Sanjayea, or however you spell his name, is in the bottom three but he has more votes, JUST SAY HE DOES NOT. Who knows how many votes anybody has anyway????

I am sorry but he is AWFUL and should not be there.

I have a son turning 7...sm
in a month and a half. Last year for his 6th birthday party, we had it at the local fire department. They do parties for free and set it up in their bay, let the kids roam around the fire trucks, get the pics taken, tour the fire house, etc. Towards the beginning they got a call and had to leave but the kids thought that was cool too. They had a limit on the number of kids they could hold in their bay.

This year for his upcoming birthday, we have reserved an indoor pool at the local community center for 2 hours. There is no limit on the number of people and we get our own lifeguard. This makes it very convenient for us as we are inviting 30 kids to the party and some of them have younger siblings that will probably also arrive.

Hey - the more the merrier. They are only young for a short time. Remember to have lots of fun and make some memories.
I am not turning this to a religion argument- sm
I prefer not to have my child taught at a church school for personal reasons. The school they were attending squeezed in church teachings as it is, though they were not a church school, and I was not thrilled with that either. Some teachers did it more than others. As for find a teacher that "really cares" only being at a church affiliated school, that is quite a broad statement to make. At the private school my kids had been attending, the teaches were paid 25% less than what the teachers made at the public school level, which could mean 3 things, the teacher really cared and wanted a small class size to teach, (2) wanted kids that were less troublesome to teach and better behaved (3) the teacher was inadequate and could not get hired in a public school (which was the case for a few teachers where my kids were). ---There are a lot of angles to look at when considering private school religion is one of them, tuition, quality of the teachers, certification, the school board, the parent organization, the involvment expects --ours was extreme involvement which is good and bad (burnout)--I am much happier now with the kids in public school, and my 8-y/o is now actually being taught by a qualified computer teacher and not some old lady who knew nothing about computers or computer programs trying to make a few extra bucks having the kids make designs and pictures on the computer (they had a new computer teacher every year as they'd quit every year). There are pros and cons to every school, you got to find out what you want to deal with.
so turning router off disables it?
I have a wireless router (not OP, BTW) and have never thought about turning it off...does that mean it will reset every morning when I log in to work? Thanks!
talk about turning around my words
Just because you teach your children that something is wrong to do does not teach them hate.  I am sorry that you are so closed minded that knowing when something is wrong causes you to hate.  My children are not so one sided and can separate the action from the person.

Birthday parties. What do ya'll do? I have a son turning 6 sm

and it's like we know everyone in the world! We are booking this place that can hold a lot of kids, so it's not like I'm paying by head count. He's turning 6, so I wasn't going to invite "girls" but ended up inviting both because I know that some parents would get their feelings hurt.  Do you tend to do that? Like invite so and so because so and so knows so and so and if you don't invite so and so, so and so might get offended? LOL

I just sent out the invites and 5 families are invited who have kids that don't really play with my son but I know that if they "found out" we had a party and their kids weren't invited they would be hurt.....

Ahh, the trial and relationships of life! Okay, so why did I do it? Because I hate hurting people's feelings and I don't do it if it is in my power not to do it.  So there.

get back home (from Rome, NY), let us get together! You sound like a lot of fun! I've been looking at places to stay and visit for a while now - didn't realize Turning Stone had a lodge now? When I lived there (mid-90s) they didn't have it then.

Boy, do I miss upstate NY and snow. Haven't seen snow in YEARS. I'm in GA now. Have fun!!!!!
