The preserves were okay (sm)
They were definitely not my favorite, but my 18-month-old kiddo loved them. Maybe next time I'll try watermelon rind pickles.

I'll stick to my canning tomatoes for now. Yum.
I've never had watermelon rind preserves, but..sm
have heard they are really good. Let us know!

Mind sharing your soup recipe?

Watermelon rind preserves? I'm canning like mad today!

Who has made this?  I'm a canning fiend right now.  I did 20 pounds of tomatoes last night and want to do the watermelon rind preserves.  I found this recipe in my Ball Blue Book.  I'm curious as to how they taste.  I've got my watermelon rind doing a long soak in salted water right now.  It sounds gnarly but hey, it's free, right?

I'm making some pumpkin/zucchini soup right now to freeze in my new chest freezer.  It's to die for.  Well, maybe.  I've never used zucchini in it, but what doesn't taste good with a little zucchini?

Okay, babbling over.

I just found a chicken receipe with mustard glaze
that I am going to cook tonight. My son won't be here for dinner tonight and he hates mustard so this will be perfect. I have tried sneaking mustard into several receipes that I felt sure my son would never know, but can't do it. He ALWAYS figures it out. BTW, every Tuesday my son decides what we are eating and my daughter decides on Thursday. Does make things easier.
Hickory Farms Sweet Hot Mustard. It's funny because (sm)
I guess ya had to be there, but about a week before Christmas my daughter (20) and I were shopping and picked up one of those Hickory Farms sausage, cheese, mustard gift sets (for us lol -- we needed comfort food). It had a really nice cutting board with it too, so it was worth the $$.

Anyhow, she LOVED the mustard, so I bought her a normal sized one for Christmas. I guess she wanted to be sure she got her new favorite mustard because she bought the same gift for both me and her dad (my ex). So all 3 of us got mustard for Christmas!!

My son's GF, who takes Christmas seriously (gift-wise anyhow) just nodded her head. She's still getting used to our 'antics.'

I also rename who the gift comes from, i.e., the GF asked for this very expensive mascara (MAX), so it was to her from Ru Paul.

My daughter gave her dad a DVD player. It was from Kevin Costner (not my fav, but he loves his movies).

Makes things lots of fun :-)
