I am a chronic pain patient on OxyContin. The bad press is undeserved. It is one of the few long-lasting pain medications that does not make you feel like you are on narcotics. I also suffer from anxiety, and yes, you can take antianxiety medications with this as well as antihistamines. While I do not drink, I doubt if a lightly poured one if you were not driving would be a problem after you are used to the medication. OxyContin has its advantages over a lot of other medicine in that it does not make you tired (it actually makes you a little wired when you first start it). It is not constipating. I certainly feel a lot less medicated on this than Vicodin. It is also a very effective pain medication. I have been on this medication for a while now with no problems, and it does not interfere with judgement, thinking, or typing speed. Hope this helps.

Oxycontin
I saw some posts on this board about pain/fibromyalgia, etc. and pain medications. Can anyone tell me about their experience with Oxycontin? My doctor is recommending it. Does it make you feel out of it. Can you take other medications with it; I read that you should not take with antihistamines and other similar OTC things, and that's not real good if you have allergies or colds, etc. Can't take anti-anxiety medications? I know many people with chronic pain have anxiety as well. And it also said no alcohol. I am not much of a drinker but can you have one if out socially? I really don't want to be worried about all of these things if I decide to use this medication, seems like a lot of potential scary complications for one little pill. Any info will be appreciated.
OxyContin- Steroid injections work better than narcotics. Have you tried these?
Before jumping on the "medication wagon," have you had any interventional procedures at a pain management clinic such as steroid injections? These are God's best invention yet!! I was able to manage my pain for several years without medications with steroids and Botox. Nobody should have to endure pain, especially severe pain. Good luck.
