I believe that Mikael was coming to get the parachute woman and was expecting her. Per the AOL LOST board, She kept changing languages until she found one only she and Mikael knew (Portugese). What she said was, "I'm not alone." Which Mikael changed to something else when he translated it. So I hope that Penny is okay and didn't die for the research that she apparently has been doing to look for Desmond. But obviously the parachuter knows Penny since she had her picture. Maybe her job was to get Desmond off the island so Penny will stop looking for him (and find the island! - ooh, I just thought of that idea).
I thought it was helpful that they basically said no, Ben didn't know they were coming and did not have the power to bring them. Maybe Jacob did, but Ben wasn't in on it.
I think they said the Lost season finale is 2 hours, right?
