Patent leather (spelling?)

Shiny black would probably be pretty.  What color are the flowers?  If you like metallic, silver would probably look really pretty, too!  Have fun!

How do you get pen mark out of leather?
Help! My 3-year-old son has drawn on our leather recliner with a pen. The chair is a very light brown color, almost tan. I have tried a couple of things I researched, which include hairspray and antibacterial hand gel. They get out the pen mark, but they also take off some of the color of the chair in the process. Any recommendations? Thanks!
ink on leather recliner
First, do not use fingernail polish remover because it will actually melt the leather as it does if you get it on any plastic surfaces, even frames of eyeglasses.

I love Mr. Clean magic erasers too, but I cannot use them on my countertops because they actually distort the look since I chose countertops with a sort of matted finish, and you have to be very, very careful how hard you rub or it will ruin your leather recliner, let alone pull the color out, though works great on stoves with no muscle.

Of note and this may not work on leather, my hubby and I have a boat on Lake Erie and upon deciding to purchase the boat, it had only 35 hours on the engine which makes the boat brand new, but the owner never cleaned this boat. It has white leather seats, now anyway, but before I cleaned them, those 4 white leather seats and white leather engine cover were stained from wet leaves off trees and had scuff marks all over them, and 2 ink marks. I went to Wal-Mart and purchased, try not to laugh, "Castrol Degreaser" in a purple bottle and every single mark came off those seats.

I do love those magic erasers but you really have to watch, though they do remove anything and everything, they will also pull off color and/or leave dull marks on floors, walls and anything else with a semi-flat or dull surface.

This Castrol Degreaser works like a magic eraser, but the degreaser does not distort color in any way whatsoever. I have used it on scuff marks on walls, floors, and wood without having to worry if it will ruin the finish.

But....definitely DO NOT USE FINGERNAIL POLISH REMOVER.
I have mine declawed, never again. I had leather
furniture that he was ruining (he had 32 claws) so I had him declawed. He went outside to sit on the front porch in the sun occasionally. Two dogs killed him because he couldn't climb a tree. He was the sweetest, beautiful Himalayan mix, talked to me all the time.
Speaking of leather furniture sm
Does anyone have any idea how to make worn spots look like new again? We have a huge medium-tan set, not the darkest, not the lightest, 3-4 years old and some of the seats and arms are beginning to look very faded. I hate to put the wrong treatment on there but it was very expensive and doubt the store would do anything about it. I think it's starting to look shabby but it's my husband's fave and he refuses to "see it" fading. Thanks.
I get the spelling
correct for people I care about, enuff said?
I never one a spelling bee but
even in grade school when the teacher would announce spelling with 1 group on 1 side of the room, the other on the other side, I always had my hand raised first because something I loved to do. My kids told me 1 time they were glad I could spell and type, otherwise what in the world would I have done as far as making a living...
Our GPS is a Gamin (I believe that's the spelling)
I couldn't live without it. My husband said it's the best money we ever spent. And as someone said above, if you make a wrong turn it gets you right back on track. I would recommend one to anyone who has problems with directions. It also saves a lot of fighting when you're in the car with a man who won't stop for directions. LOL.
We resorted to spelling b-y-e but now he even knows that.
He also used to be able to tell time. Before my son got his license I had to pick he and his sister up from school every day. Casey knew exactly when to go lay by the door so he didn't miss out on his ride. LOL!
Okay here are the rumours LOL, sorry for the spelling
I did read in one of the soap mags (no longer buy them, just read them while in line at the grocery store) that Sabrina is definitely leaving the show. I also read elsewhere that it is rumored Sabrina and the baby will die in a car accident. Well, of course if Sabrina dies so will the baby. Anyway, I think Heather may get herself in danger with Walter since she is starting to connect him to David and Ji Min. It has shown in flashbacks that David killed Ji Min. Don't know why yet. He has ties with the mob and Walter is getting him to do the dirty work. Do you ever go to Soap City on the net? Here is the website.

http://www.sonypictures.com/tv/shows/soaps/index.html

They will give you daily recaps as well as a weekly preview. Any other questions just let me know. I take my lunchbreak during Y&R so I can watch. Each days episode is also on the soap channel at 7:00p.m.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
and don't correct my spelling...
I see my errors. LOL

as
Kalyn (or variation on spelling)

a little unusual, not quite the norm. Although my daughter is Kalyn and she gets called Kaitlyn a lot.

Carmex (spelling?)......in pharmacy OTC..

So true, spelling and math.
Wanna have a laugh, when at a store if the amount is something like 12.56 give the young clerk a twenty and a nickel and a penny and see the puzzled look you get. Then when they put the amount into the ''computer'' and see you will get 2 quarters back they are like OH! okay. This is our future generation. It is scary.
Spelling police? Pleeeeeze no...
Unless you NEVER make mental errors (its versus it's, your versus you're), please don't correct our mistakes.  Rest assured, I always kick myself when I see a typo or grammatical error that I've made without anyone having to point it out. However, this board being named 'gab' implies a casual come-as-you are atmosphere...i.e. no spelling police. We will return the favor.   Thanks!!!
excuse the spelling errors nm

yes, but I did apologize for being the spelling police.

Interesting about the national spelling bee...

7 of the 10 finalists are Indian.. probably American raised, but there were a few parents in the audience in Indian garb.  The winner's last name is Shivashankar (sp!).  Man, though, all these kids are really sharp!  They were allowed to ask questions about the origin of the words, etc.

How many of us MT's are former spelling bee winners?  I bet lots.  8th grade county champ here.  My final word was ptomaine.

I was the building spelling champ when

I was in 5th grade -- boy were the 6th graders mad.  I was also on the 5th grade 3-kid all-star scholastic quiz team (kind of like jeopardy) and we beat the 6th graders that year, too!  We didn't get to compete any further than within our own building.

Of course, as for the spelling bee last night, I only watched the last few rounds, but I couldn't spell any of those words.  Whew!  I was surprised at the questions they were allowed to ask.  We were only allowed to ask definition and to use it in a sentence.  The one last night asked what the root word was -- I'm not sure that should have been allowed.

Anyway, the winner definitely earned it!

Spelling police is not necessary on the MTStars forums.

well your english/grammar/punctuation/spelling

Who would want your rudeness around their children or good neighbors anyway?  Since you seem to be just a judgmental person, perhaps there is some utopia somewhere for the likes of folks like you....hmmmmm?  We wouldn't want you in the city nor the country as neighbors of our family, that's for sure, and WE DON'T IMBIBE...so there!

Rudeness and hate is taught in the home - now we know how it was for you.....poor thing....

Did anyone watch the national spelling bee last night...sm
and feel like a dunce like I did?  My husband & I felt brilliant when we were able to spell the words they used.... but missed most.
Oh, but you didn't correct my spelling of "tooma,"
tooma for tumor, LOL.

And besides, the traditional spelling for the reply is,
"It's nodda tooma."

:oD

Presidential candidate Huckabee (spelling?) said that
Christmas is taken from "Christ mass" and therefore it is Christmas and he was going to continue to say "Merry CHristmas" - jest of his commentary on the radio the other day when questioned about it.
Tried, failed in math so could not figure, only do spelling!

Lucky, you! I am sorry I got the spelling of this gorgeous breed SM

wrong. I study dog breeds, know every one in the dog shows, etc. and then made that fo-pa.  Not intentional, I assure you.  They had the Pembroke and Cardigan. You would have loved it.

Yes. You must make a point to see this next year. It is so adorable and a change of pace for those of us who don't watch the football game. They have them on what looks like a football field with lots of toys and they are all running around, and they play a sound track in the bakground that sounds like fans cherring in the crowd!

Sorry for spelling Pinkie's name wrong in my post

Oh man, sorry about that.  Nothing worse than getting a name wrong.

You can get in trouble for being spelling police here but as far as living
where I live, these places can be rural as well as in the city- I don’t want to put up with undesirables. Take that anyway you would like.
Cut the snippy remarks back and forth. Spelling police are not

I used to love spelling bees too. However, I went to a Catholic school and......
they were required, just like learning the catechism. LOL. I have a TON of holy cards from my grade school years. But I'll be darned if I can remember the word I won my last bee with in 8th grade.

I told my son's 6th grade teacher that I was concerned about the fact that they didn't study spelling, or grammar, the old fashioned kind of subject, verb, and object grammer. Those of you who are in your 50's and plus will know EXACTLY what I am talking about. But that is a subject for a whole other discussion.

spelling police beware the swift correction of the administrator! ha! nm
