QA Management?

I didn't think the OP was asking about "quality".  She/he may already believe they are a "quality" MT, but wanted to know if it was worth it to become a CMT.  Everyone is titled to an opinion, but being QA Management must have somewhere along the line entitled you to believe that you are an expert in determining quality transcription.  What is quality transcription?  It is kind of funny to me that most companies require you to transcribe so many lines per hour (which signifies QUANTITY), and they are not too concerned with whether you are a CMT.  In most of the company advertisements I have seen the CMT '"blurb" is way down at the bottom of the advertisement almost like it is an after thought.  To each his/her own, but in my opinion having a few initials after your name because you passed a "so-called" transcription test does not make you "the cream of the crop".  I have to disagree in that I believe physicians look at experience and worth ethic as opposed to some initials after your name.  If that was the case, then hospitals and healthcare would only employ registered radiology techs or registered nurse anesthetists.  I mean, come on, does it really mean that much?  If it was truly something that would make you stand out, the entire healthcare industry would make it mandatory.  We are transcriptionists, nothing more, nothing less, not doctors, nurses, technologists.  We are typists with a knowledge for medical terminology and now with computer skills.  Furthermore, anything we type, is supposed to be looked at the physician who dictated it, read, and signed-off.  After all, it is his/her dictation, and it does not belong to the transcriptionist.

    Pain Management doc?

I am going to one tomorrow for a sciatica episode that I am going through.I am in so much pain, I agreed to take the first appointment with anyone who can legally use a prescription pad!!! (It's been a year an a half since my last episode) My doc no longer works for the practice.

What should I expect? Pill pusher? Physical therapy? Right now, if a someone suggested that standing on my head while reciting the alphabet would work, I'd give it a shot!!!

You know, I thought I'd like management...

I actually tried it once and totally bombed.  I had to reprimand a lady who had a couple of years on me age-wise for being consistently late to work, and another who was found by the owner of the company making out with her boyfriend on work time.  In both cases I folded and wound up just covering for them, which obviously isn't something manager material is supposed to do...so I resigned and tried something else.  I just don't have the backbone to ever be the heavy.  Totally messed up, I know.  I know I'm destined to be self-employed in some aspect but doing what and actually earnin' a living at it I may never know.  So, I guess I'll just have to resign myself to being stuck in limbo and having a bad day every now and again.  This will pass.

Thanks for the "reading" though--very cool indeed!

    It's a management thing. (sm)
The dog's being able to get to the pan has to be prevented. I used to keep my cat's litter pan in the big garden tub in the master bathroom. There was also a babygate that usually kept the dogs out of the master bedroom, but if they ever did make it in, the tub would slow them down enough so I could catch them before they got up the courage to jump in.

It's much simpler to just have dogs with the breed of dog I have with the prey drive extending to cats. And it's nice not to have litter pans in the house anymore. Now I get my cat fix by watching You-Tube videos. Nothing as funny as cats.
