I do not shop at Wally World...
Besides some company policies, which go against my personal morals, I do not like crowds. However, have you wondered where all the mom and pop stores have gone. If you live in a small community like I do, you will find that your choice of shopping is very limited...Wally bought out the market. Many MT's cry about their jobs going overseas, you should cry about products being produced overseas, being imported back into the U.S., and unskilled labor force having no choice but being employed by Wally. There are very few companies that are left that can train people, let alone invest in them, when all the jobs are going off shore. If you support Wally, you support Americas expansion into the Chinese and foreign markets.
i love wally world

i too am guilty of shopping at wal-mart and have caught LOTS of grief about it from friends of mine who....make more money!!! and who aren't single moms and don't have kids. but i totally get the person who posted about cutting off your nose to spite your face and the consequences of poor work conditions shown by the tacit approval of patronizing the store, as well as the posting about what many MTSOs have done to MTs (although i see that climate changing in a positive direction too, albeit excruciatingly slowly!).

on the other hand, there is such a thing as "change from within." it also seems there's room for the big mega-giant conglomerates like wal-mart, as well as the mom&pop stores - overall, neither will go out of business, though many smaller communities have sadly seen the demise of the latter with their very quaint and charming main streets. i don't think the issue is black and white, and it seems some stores are much worse offenders in some states than others. i'm hoping the employees in litigation win, that justice prevails, and that, hopefully, this will carry through to how all wal-mart employees are treated.

my particular gripe is how many very productive workers and contributing citizens have no insurance because they're part-time employed. seems to me if insurance is offered to all employed individuals (and unemployed, for that matter, but i digress), then you ultimately increase the bottom line by having more energetic, happier, HEALTHIER, saner workers willing to give 100%, as well as rewarding others for thinking outside the wage-slave, 9-5 box and enabling them to work a couple part-time jobs (i myself would LOVE to do this), or to embark on starting up their own businesses. regarding MT, with its sedentary and physically repetitive work environment, i personally find it unhealthy to expect anything more than 35-36 hours to be full time, preferably 32. i work about 28 now, some in split shifts, and am a single mom of a 6yo and couldn't lead the very full and rewarding life that i do were i forced by circumstances to do this full-time. i'd be miserable, and life is too short for that, even if i have to go through it without health insurance!

Oh really, because I knew of a guy who threw his back out on the job at Wally World and got full sm
comp for it. This is a fact. I don't know where you get your facts from, but I think you are wrong on this one. Obviously. And even if they do dispute it, it does not mean the employee won't get workman's comp for it. A LOT of companies dispute claims. If they didn't 80% of their workforce would be out on Workman's Comp. Oh, my hand hurts. I have carpal tunnel, I need workman's comp! Oh puhleeze!
Why in the world would I have to work nights?
How many people want to work, really want to work nights? First of all, it is very unhealthy for you- do you not know the link between women working nights and breast cancer? Do you not know other illnesses associated with working at night? I have never worked nights, never wanted to, never had to and hope that will always be the case. My gosh, what else do you want to down me for- now it is for not working nights? Ridiculous!
My son also noted improvement with med even tho

Go to Wally
one of those huge body pillows.  Not the curvy special ones.  Just an extra long pillow.  I put it under my head, under my belly and between my legs.  Was fabulous!  Cost ya 8.88, if I remember correctly.
Me too!! Oh the ever elusive Wally...sm

I was never close, especially with T and J and their massive line counts.  I was hoping this would work so I could catch up with some great friends.  I have no clue who you are yet, so I guess you may have to give me some more clues.  You probably already know who I am by the long entries I write, and of course Shaggy.

Yeah I bet everybody reading this is wondering what I'm smokin!  HAAA! HAAA!  I'll never tell.   Doofus

Is that a new way to increase production?
I remember a few months back about someone posting if they wear a bra or not while typing.

Haven't heard about that technique before! LOL

It is possible to increase your income
Pay off the house! Congratulations!:-)
Is it possible to increase you income temporarily to put towards the cc debt? Can your dh work side jobs or a second job?
After you pay off the house, I would start pay off the cc from the smallest balance first.
200
2K
4K
10K
I would not withdraw from retirement but stop paying it right now. After you pay off the house, put all your money into paying off the cc debt.
For the 4K and 10K I would write them a letter and try to get a lower APR.

Along with the federal tax increase, my
state tax went up 30 cents per pack, so that is a total of 90 cents per pack or $9 a carton more.

No SS Increase! Not just politics sm
This is for everyone who has a parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle/etc. who has worked their USA hands and/or kiesta off all their lives. We paid off the big loans and we punish those older citizens who gave it their all, put their kids through college on their own dime and/or moreso to build this country!  Booh, hiss!!!! I thought we made a good choice, but now I am rethinking me thoughts! This is personal, not politics!! Thmbs down, where do we write, anyone know or care to know???
New cause for blood pressure increase sm

Typed in a report today:  His blood pressure is 160/100, however, he attributes this to his wife's driving.

Typical male remark, LOL.

Increase your insurance deductibles
Build up an emergency fund and increase your auto and homeowner insurance premiums to $1,000. You’ll save hundreds per year in premium.
It was national news about Indiana's tax increase!
I read that they were increased between 30-60%! And the state's spending increased by about 30%. So, they spend more, and the average Joe gets screwed.

I'm not saying it won't happen here, but we're on 3/4 acre, and our taxes (property and house) was about $280. for the year. I thank God for that!
Increase your line count by chewing gum!

I have tried this off and on for a few months and every time I chew gum all day my line counts go up.  For some reason they say spearmint is the best.  I find that it increases my focus and keeps me alert and helps me type faster!!

Current studies are looking into three areas of potential benefits, the company says:

• Stress management: What's behind the common practice of chewing gum to relieve tension? Wrigley cites research showing that it stimulates certain areas of the brain, but wants to go further. "Consumers tell us they use it for that, and yet we don't understand how that comes about," Kumar said.

• Weight management: As a 5- to 10-calorie substitute for a high-calorie snack, gum could obviously reduce caloric intake. But does it help suppress appetite? "It's not that chewing gum has any particular magic, but it can be a useful behavior modification pill," said Gilbert Leveille, executive director of the Wrigley Science Institute, which held its inaugural meeting in Chicago in December.

• Cognition and focus: Is gum-chewing a way to increase focus, concentration and alertness? Wrigley points to studies that show that it increases blood flow to the brain but would like to see it linked definitively to higher concentration levels.

Huge increase in utility bill

What would you do?  I just opened my gas bill yesterday and found that my gas bill is 6 x last month's.  I live in an apartment and the only gas appliance I have is the water heater.  There have not been other people visiting me (I live alone) and I use cold water for clothes washing 99% of the time. I do use my dishwasher about 3 times a week...trying to eat at home!  I would have to take 10 long showers a day for this kind of increase.  In other words, I do not believe my consumption has increased so much or the rate has recently increased this much!

Many years ago I had a similar thing happen, instead of gas it was an electric bill increase, and it turned out to be a faulty air conditioner.  I paid 3 outrageous power bills before that problem was solved and I didn't try to recoup what I paid from the apartment complex.  This time I'm not going to do that, as I'm now older and meaner : )  If it turns out to be some sort of leak, can I take the apartments to small claims court?  Any similar experiences?  TIA...

Good advice. In this economy, lay low. Sounds like a PT job may be in order to increase income. (
dd
Yes - does not work! Hoax if you ask me. MetaboLife doesn't work either.
The only thing that works for me is exercise and eating correctly! No quick fix, unfortunately.
It has only been two weeks, it will get better.
Maybe do more fun things with your kids, as they're probably upset right now too. You are lucky to have them and four is a blessing. And for yourself, how about joining a bowling league, a gym, or taking a craft or cooking class etc....just something to occupy your time and meet other adults and new friends. You may even meet others in the same situation and that always helps. And always remember how much better your kids lives will be in the long run being out of that kind of situation. That may help you to not be tempted to take your husband back because you are lonely, because that does happen and it's understandable. It's a long time to be with someone. Best of luck to you.
Yes, used now for over 3 weeks and
think it smells good, other than that I have not seen any change at all in the hair situation, still falling out.....
Only used them for about 1-2 weeks when they - sm
were newborns. Personally I don't think they should be used for long at all or they become dependent on them (tops 2-3 months when newborn). I know someone who has a 3-y/o who walks about with one in his mouth 24/7; can't understand him at all even when he does take it out of his mouth to talk, major speech issues I think because of it. I feel bad for him, angry with her for being lazy and not trying to get him to transfer his need for a security object to something less destructive. One of mines has a doll and blanket that are her security things, and the other and old teething toy that is a cat from Right Start with all the rubber "feet" cut off, still sleeps with it at 8, both are well-behaved and mentally developed kids with no issues of any sort.
I used to get one every 2 weeks...
I just called a local service and had 2 sisters come every other Friday. We paid them $75 plus $10 tip. We just now cancelled the service and decided to put that money in our savings account and do the cleaning ourselves:-) We had to get the house totally cleaned up anyway the night before, which was pretty stressful. It was good, though, for the year we did it. They brought their own equipment and dusted and cleaned the whole house except for the basement. We'll use them for parties like the one we're having this month, but that's it. Just check your local paper and call a few. Ask questions to see if they fit your needs. You can have them come every day if you want, once a week, every 2 weeks, or once a month, whatever you need. Good luck!
I have someone come every two weeks

She does basic cleaning - dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning bathrooms. I pay her $75 each time. She has basically a one-woman business that she is just getting started up. I found her listing in the local newspaper and lucked out, because she is a really super lady and I enjoy having her here to talk to, since my husband and I are "empty-nesters" and I am home alone working all day.

As far as what you should pay, I think the area where you live and the cost of living needs to be taken into consideration. I would expect to pay someone in New York City or Los Angeles more than I would pay someone in a small Midwest town, for example.

Just my two cents.

I go to one every 3-4 weeks - sm
and when I was looking for one I asked a friend who went to one on a regular basis. As stated below there are the rip-off ones who do all this fancy garbage that does absolutely nothing. My friend said to go to a "straight" chiropractor (no clue what that means, guess it is how they practice, and one that graduated from Palmer school of Chiropracty (Sp?), pretty sure it was Palmer, if I am wrong I will post a correction. Mine is very reasonable, $45 a visit (my insurance covers it 100%). I too started out 2-3 x a week, then tapered down to 1 a week, then every 2 weeks, and now do every 3-4 weeks. I have not been for about 8 weeks now because I hurt my shoulder but it is all better now so I will probably start going again. It feels great to get the back cracked, gets so tight from sitting here all the time.
I think just a few weeks at most ... sm

I don't intend to keep the car for long.  Last night we had decided until the end of the semester.  After talking with it I am waffling about taking it at all.  I am sure he will have it back by Thanksgiving.  Thank you.

I had a bag of those a few weeks ago (sm)
My dogs finished them.  So far so good.  So then I bought the name brand ones this weekend at Sam's.  $12.00.  Evidently they are not the ones recalled, but I went and looked at the bag, and it says, "Made in China", so out they go.  I can't believe I forgot to look - lately I have been looking at everything.  Even if it's made in US, I'm usually afraid because of the wheat gluten, etc, that is imported.  Good luck with your dog.  Hope he is okay.
Just ate there 2 weeks ago - sm
WONDERFUL!!!!! This is the third Emeril's we have eaten at. We ate at one in New Orleans and one in Atlanta and now the one in Gulfport (used to live in Biloxi, so we are trying to support their rebounding economy). We always eat 4 courses and are never disappointed. ENJOY! Worth every penny!
3-1/2 weeks!
That sounds like a wonderful vacation. . I'm taking off a few days too and I'm really looking forward to it.. Hope you have a great time!
2 weeks
as it sounds like routine blood work. If no call by the 23rd I would call the office and leave a message and then you will probably hear back on that Monday.
2 weeks?
I just had bloodwork last Thursday and I got the results on Monday. I guess it just depends on the physician/lab. They used Quest Diagnostics.
I am 43....just, B-day was about 3 weeks ago- sm
My DH is 6.5 years older than I am and dying to retire. He keeps telling me at 55 he is done. He will then go out and get a PT job somewhere, probably at $7.50 an hour, just to stay active and bring in some money. I want him to keep working until he is 62 at least then one kid is done college anyway, and we will be able to sock away quite a bit in the 7 years that we have no mortgage and have for mad money, home improvements, save for kid's weddings (they are going to get 10K each and that will be it--can do what they wish with it, but that is the gift--not going to be one of those nutty parents who blow $25K on their kid's wedding--I did it for 5K, everything including honeymoon in 1996, so can they). But in 5 years the house will be paid off (2013), as well as our loan to pay off his debt. I may or may not be done with mine at that time. So there is a goal and it will be nice to be out of debt then, though our monthly expenses now, mortgage, food, utilities, college funds, etc. come to $3400 a month---luckily combined bring in about $4300 a month currently. I go for testing on the 15th for an administrative asst. position for a neighboring county sheriff. Want the job but on the other hand don't want to change my current schedule, etc. But it would be nice to have a nice steady paycheck coming in.
I go about every 3 weeks when I can - sm
I did not go for like six months and just went about 3 weeks ago. I just go when I have a little spare time anymore which is not too often. I went initially because of a car accident, very stiff neck and shoulders, went once a week, then every two weeks, now when I feel like it. Since I had not gone for a while my spine was sore for a day or two, but it does make me feel better as I get so stiff sitting here working 6-10 hours a day. Need to start exercising too, I am sure that will help too. As for dissing chiropractors there are good and bad, there are the ones who rape you with all the different machines they put you on (been to one of them, racked up $800 in 3 days), or those (as a friend swears to) are called "straight" chiropractors who attended Palmer Chiropractic school, who don't stick it to you. My visit is $45, lasts 10-15 mins, and my insurance pays for the it, no co-pay for some reason. She ends up with $36 in the end and I do not have to pay the difference. But just tell him you will be starting to come in once a month or so from now on, what is he going to do, tell you to go somewhere else as the is unacceptable to him?
He will be in about two weeks (sm)
I am going through with the separation and in fact have signed a six month lease and paid a deposit and first month's rent, so no turning back now! Thank you for your encouragement the other day and everyone else too. I do know that what he did was wrong, I was just having some grief over the "dream" I had coming to an end. I went to a board on cafemom and talked to some others who have been in abusive relationships. Apparently it is very normal for anyone divorcing to feel grief and doubt, but from what I hear, I will be feeling much happier once I am out and away from the relationship. Thanks for checking on me :)
Usually I would think about 1-2 weeks,
especially if they sent them out. What did your doctor say about calling for the results?
I just had this 2 weeks ago... (sm)
It's called pyelonephritis, and yes, you need to go to the ER. If you can't take Levaquin, they might know of something else, but still.

I'm taking something that decreases my immunity (according to the ER doc - I had never known that about Plaquenil before), and I didn't go through the high fevers, but it seemed more like it was because my body couldn't fight back with a fever. It actually made sense when the ER doc explained it, which is totally weird because the ER doc was a jerk otherwise.

Anyway, I hope you feel better VERY soon!
I told everyone at 6 weeks...
then waited to tell son when we had first ultrasound...
Ultrasound at 7 weeks?
Ack - I didn't realize docs were doing these so soon. There are so many variables in pregancies (and children) that I wouldn't be too concerned. But, after all the ultrasound horror stories that I have heard over the years, we skipped ultrasounds with both of our children. I had normal pregnancies and there was no reason to have one.

I measured completely different with both of my children through my pregnancies and with good reason, the first was 10 pounds 4 ounces, the second was 7 pounds 14 ounces.

I hope everything is fine, please let us know.
It is probably that engineer from a few weeks ago
the one that wanted extra cash because she could "type good." LOL
I started WW 4 weeks ago...

I actually NEVER cook.  My kids are picky eaters, and they both are picky about different things, so we eat mostly TV dinners.

With WW, you can eat anything.  You calculate "points" based on calories, fiber, and fat grams.  You get a certain amount of points each day based on your weight.  You also get 35 cheat points per week.  If you are still hungry, you can earn points by exercising.

In 4 weeks, I've lost 6.6 pounds and I haven't felt like I was dieting even once.  I wish I would have done their program years ago.

If you do cook, you can go on their website and use E-Tools to calculate points.  You can enter your own recipe into the online calculator, and it will tell you how many points it is.

Right now they have a special where you don't have to pay the initial start-up fee and you get free E-Tools for $40 a month.  That's what I'm doing now, and I plan to stay at it until I lose all the weight.

Good luck with whichever program you decide.

I have a maid come in every two weeks sm

She has her own business. I just lucked out - she advertised in the paper, I talked to her on the phone and then she came over and gave me an estimate and she seemed like a very nice, responsible person. She has been cleaning for me for about three months now and she does a great job and is indeed a very nice person.

I have a two-bedroom, two-bath house that is about 1800 square feet and I pay her $75 each time she cleans.

How much exercise have you had in the last 3 weeks?
The kind of exercise where your rib cage actually has to expand as far as it can go?

That kind of exercise causes relaxation, and relaxation is an antidote for anxiety attacks.

I was also helped by learning relaxation with biofeedback and I also take Effexor. Not everybody can take that though.
It's only been on the market 2 weeks
nm
Or eat the 2 weeks and get professional from here.
x
I definitely needed him a few weeks ago.
Definitely HOT. What did you think of the season finale?
For the last two weeks I have been listening

to Christmas music in my car.  Don't know why, but I was in the mood for some Manheim Steamroller, even if it is a little early in the year.  I have to say that when I listen to the Hallelujah Chorus on this particular CD it makes everything that is wrong in my life seem so insignificant.  I love this group's music.  It just makes you happy.

Merry Christmas, a little early!

I think about 6 weeks is the norm sm

My first and last both wear able to newborn size about 6 weeks.  I probably would have upped their size sooner had I not had so many newborn diapers.  They were both about 7 pounds at birth.  My second child was 8 pounds 6 ounces and didn't wear newborns for more than a week.

I would definitely get the size 1 instead of the newborn.  Of course, you could always call the new mom or maybe the grandmom and ask.  But I agree that it's better to go up a size and have to wait a week or 2 to wear them than to get the wrong size and not be able to use them.

yeah i second that. it has taken 2 weeks for me
to get video games for my kids before. The holidays will make it take longer too!!
bloated after 12 weeks...
I got bloated somewhere around the end of the first trimester/beginning of second trimester. My pants hurt me sooo bad. I got some really uncomfortable stomach pains because of it. I finally had to break down and buy a couple of pairs of maternity pants. I was far enough along that I knew it was going to happen (buying pants) at some point in the next couple of months and it did not matter. Comfort is #1 in pregnancy, and if you want a pair of pants you can go out in and not feel embarrassed about, get some prego pants. I still wear those pants I first bought in my third trimester.
Really odd. I had a cold about 3 weeks ago and got another one now and a lot of
other people are having the same problem.  This is very unusual for me to have this happen.  Not much fun!  I really dont get around many people at all so I have no idea where they are coming from.
I'm currently 8 weeks preggers
with my second child.  I don't recall having major swelling problems with my first pregnancy.  I would suggest laying off any and all salt and taking it easy and keeping those feet propped up until you deliver your baby girl!  Congrats, BTW.
