My kitty departed yesterday. We had family in for the holiday and my cat pee'd on the couch. It took all 4 days to get the smell out of the cushion between washing it in the washing machine, using carpet cleaner, and spraying it with febreeze. My husband had enough and took him to the humane society last night. We only had him a couple of years and he was 4 when we got him. He hid in the basement until the last year or so. The animal specialist said he was asserting his position in the family (although the other cat and 1 dog don't do anything of the such) and that he was probably more suited for a single animal home. Sorry to hear your bad news. I understand.
