I remember Vitalis and Brylcream but I also remember that my Mom and a lot of other women used to put plastic behind the couch because when the guys put their head back it would make a mess of the wallpaper. I don't think you can get away from greasy with these older products. Perhaps Bedhead has the same effect which is what my hair salon uses and is not greasy, no smell though. Just ask the salon section at Walmart what to use, they have some good hair products in their salon shops, lots of Paul Mitchell and others, they could help you out.
Might be Vitalis, lots of shops used that years ago
