Ask T-Mobile about their prepaid minutes with no contract. I buy for a year and it's only $100 but not sure of how many minutes. I do not use it much and do not allow text messaging (old phone). Don't know if it's feasible for you but I put out the word not to call just to chit chat, they can use e-mail for that; the phone is for important short calls only. Works for me. Be sure not to sign any contracts, none needed for me, saving at least $500 per year. Some people also use Facebook for family chats, but I hate it, I think it's too risky for identity problems, etc., I don't go on there. Some are very foolish with the things they say on there and pics they post. Too dangerous. Good luck with your decision. Phone prices are ridiculous!
