Sister was into this years ago and my brother says (sm)

That one night when he had slept over, was on the couch, board was on top of the fridge and he heard the middle peice start banging around in the box like crazy. He would never be one to believe anything like this or to make it up. Next day my mom and sister burned it.

Both my brother and sister met their spouses this way.
Couldn't tell you the names of the sites they used though. Seems like a good way to meet people these days!
My sister (lapsed Catholic) and brother-in-law (Jewish)
don't seem to have had any problems -- they celebrate Xmas/Hannukah and Easter/Passover with the kids; if anything, it's my sister who's the more proactive one in making sure they celebrate Jewish holidays. This has led to such amusing moments as the one at their seder earlier this year, in which sis asked BIL a question about something in the Haggadah, and he said, "honey, how would I know? You're the good Jew in the family."

No problems with parents on either side -- heck, I think I always disappointed my parents by failing to marry a nice Jewish boy like my sister did, and my BIL's parents are actually an interfaith couple themselves.

Have had no contact with sister for 5 years

5 years free of hysterical calls at all hours that go on for hours, crazy accusations, death threats, trying to turn other relatives against me, her demanding praise for the tiniest things and putting me down every chance she gets, cops at my door if she gets a scratch on her car because "I must have done it because I'm stalking her".

Nope, don't miss her at all.

I haven't talked to my one sister in 20 years....
and don't ever plan on it. I wrote her off and will never go back. She does not exist to me. Sad isn't it.
Several years ago my sister-in-law was a teacher's aide in
a kindergarten class.  Her father passed away and she was out for several days.  When she returned the teacher of the class told a little boy why she had been out because he asked.  The teacher explained that she had lost her dad and told the little boy to tell my sister-in-law he was sorry.  He looked up at my sister-in-law and said Why?  I didn't kill him!"
My sister lived in Spain for years.
She said they washed all the time. However, deodorants, powders, hygiene products were very expensive so they don't spend the money on them. You blend that with the heat and no air conditioning and you have yourself a stinky culture.
My sister lost her daughter to SIDS 7 years ago. (sm)
Of course the calls, cards, and visits were comforting to her but the biggest help was another couple from a surrounding town who had gone through the same thing came into their lives and were a tremendous help. They were strangers to her, but they were able to comfort her and help her through some of the grief process like none of us were able to.

In years later, my sister and her husband had likewise reached out to families that have had a loss to SIDS. Hopefully someone from that organization will reach out to her.

i made a memorial site for my mom for my sister and my grandmother a few years ago. sm
neither were cremated, but mom wanted a memorial. we took a spot in her back yard and made a rose garden out of it. we planted several rose bushes. i got some of those make your own stones from hobby lobby. it is like cement that you pour into the mold. i then wrote in the cement before it dried their names at the bottom and in loving memory of at the top. decorated the stones up with some heart gems. these are in the middle of the rose flower bed. we also got her a covered canopy bench to sit next to it. everyone in the family loves to go there. just FYI there is a rose that is a red and white mixture rose that is called the love rose and this is the very center of our "memorial". i can't recall the name and it was very hard to locate. this was several years ago and the roses are growing pretty than ever.
I have a great brother like that too! I love my Big Brother!
Enjoy the love!
I have an older brother and younger brother
and I was a terrible handful, especially during high school compared to my brothers.
Okay, my sister and I are doing Thanksgiving this year and since my sister can't cook, that means

I'm doing the cooking.  My sister gets equal billing cause we're doing it at her house.  :)  Soooo, I'm looking for some vegetable ideas.  I am about sick of green bean casserole!  Does anyone have any really tasty recipes for vegetables side?  Any kind of vegetables.  I'm looking for something different and fabulous.

I had a corn casserole at one potluck I went to, but never got the recipe.  Anybody got a good corn recipe?

Thanks Ladies!

I have the best brother ever!
Tonight my brother called, said he loved me and he knew I was struggling to catch up after being laid off and would I accept his gift to help me catch back up.     I love my family.   It isn't like he has money to spare really but he got a really nice bonus and wanted to share it with me.
My brother and I also won sm
a Halloween costume competition when we were little. He for my original costume (He was a hobo)and me for prettiest costume (me, what else, a princess)My mom was a whiz with the sewing machine. Funniest thing, We had the same last name as the anme of the department store that sponsered the competition. I assure you we were in no way related, but I bet no one else belived it.
Big Brother
Did anyone watch Big Brother last night?  Did you think Julie Chen looked awfully skinny.  I did not think she looked good at all.
Big Brother

Who out there watches Big Brother?  What is wrong with everyone this season?  They all seem so emotional.  It is so funny to watch.  No one gets along.  Can't stand Jen.

Oh brother!
a
My brother's got one. They ALWAYS
Why not put $500.00 away in a bank account and then take long weekends or splurge on a huge trip?  I don't see where you're saving money really, plus someone's padding their pocket somewhere.  :(
My brother
was a wild one when he was 15, hung out with an older crowd and so on. But he straightened out in his early 20s when most guys his age were still barhopping. He ended up getting his GED and now he is a Fire Capt. I think some kids go through those wild years a little earlier than others. I would not be comfortable with him hanging out with a 23-year-old though. Makes you wonder what the older guy's motivation is hanging out with a young teenager. Good luck.
Big Brother
Is anyone out there as disgusted with the results of Big Brother this year?  I cannot even watch the last one because it will make me physically sick to see either Daniele or Evel win.  Daniele is the biggest baby I have ever seen and Evel is the meanest person I think I have ever seen.
Big Brother
Oh, I was disgusted with how it turned out last night. I bet there are a lot of people out there that feel the same way. I won't have to worry about missing the next show.
Big Brother
I love ED.. He is just being realistic. You do what you gotta do when you are in a game like that. It always amazes me why people get their feelings hurt.. They are there to win the money and that is simply all. Waste of time otherwise. I am glad he won.. of course, his daughter will get the money because of the hate people feel for him... The truth hurts sometimes.
O Brother

Whatta day it's been

O Brother
I glad you enjoyed it....
brother
I'm glad your brother seems to be getting his life together. . my ex was always a wonderful father - that is how I knew the drugs had finally taken over - when our daughter needed medical tests done - lost health insurance when he quit his job - and I BEGGED him to do something to get some money so she could have her tests done. . he did nothing. . I filed for divorce right after that. . he would never even admit he was on drugs. . if he had, we could have tried to get help maybe. .
i could have had his brother - nm

Well, at least not as bad as his gay brother
who has his own porn site, it is called Kitty-Porn. When husband not at home this furry is on hub's computer setting up, shall we say meetings. I would not have known had it not been for my husband telling me he had extra charges on his cell from someone named Romeo, that is when he found out about the gay site fatcat's brother is running. I tell you, these kids now days. They will be the death of me yet!
Through my brother...
and have only been apart when truly necessary!
Oh brother!
This is a 16-year-old you are talking about???  You seem awfully involved in the drama of highschool life.  Don't teach him to be concerned about what some snotty girl is doing.  Tell him to decide what he wants to do for his B-day and get over it.  When he is 35, he will either remember a birthday spent worrying about someone whose name he can't recall, or that he had a really great birthday with friends that were true friends.  His choice!  This is hardly the end of the world.
My brother is ................. sm
smoking some sausage, ribs, etc., for dinner and we are making potato salad and beans and trimmings to go along with it. He doesn't do this too often, so we are looking forward to a different Easter dinner this year!
Great Brother!
He is very special. Can't be he's married to someone who resents his having much to do with his sister, only sibling.
I am in NJ and worry about my brother-in-law
even though the fires are not near him, things can change if those winds do not stop soon. I wish the best for your friend. Yes, everyone's spirits out there seem to be good. They go through so much with these fires and earthquakes. I believe that is what gives them the strength to deal with these disasters when they happen.
Just to clarify - the brother that my son
lives 30 miles East of my parents. He does not visit, call, he is better than the rest of the family. Read my recent post above in regards to being a future felon. Yes, life is too short now isn't it?
Don't get walnut. My brother did,
and it's not as hard as it sounds like it would be. Cherry is very hard. which is why it is so popular.

I just have WilsonArt (like Pergo), and I got a medium tone. I don't like the color. It is too dull brown. I wish I had gotten something more interesting and dramatic, like light or dark or at least the honey shade I planned on, but I got a good deal on this color, and now I regret the color, but not the product.

Hardwood is better for resale value in many places, and does look better IF you can take care of it. WilsonArt, on the other hand, is indestructable, so it holds up better for rough use.

Another consideration you didn't mention is if you are getting flat boards or the ones with a little edge on them or other texture. I've seen wide planks that had an interesting effect that was very rustic looking. I'm sure any sort of texture would collect dirt, but if you are going to vacuum frequently anyway, the textures/shaped boards look fabulous to me.

Try to see as many pictures and even completed rooms as possible before you decide.

Big brother needs to be careful
I sincerely hope your son didn't run wants/warrants, DL, car registration, LEADS or anything else on sis's boyfriend.  My sister is a deputy sheriff, and if she did anything like that for a personal reason, the sheriff would have her badge in about 2 seconds flat.  That is a major no-no and one of the first things they learn if they work in the radio room.
My brother has quite a few Boxers
They are so funny!
We'll probably go to my brother's
He also has 5 boxer dogs that the kids love to play with.  I'll probably take some chili cheese dip or some chicken wings; it's hard to tell what I'll come up.  Him and his wife are on a diet, so I don't want to bring too much of that kind of stuff.  Maybe I'll make a salad!
Big brother in action again

What happened to freedom of choice?  When did what we do off the clock become everyone's business, and when did we, the workers, agree we need some authority with a conflict of interest to police everyone's health for their own good?

So what's next - we all have no health insurance eventually because some greedy insurer decides something we do is a risk?  In this profession in particular, they could look to disqualify us for being overweight, or the likelihood of carpal tunnel, or any of the other problems that come from being chained to a keyboard the majority of the time.

On the other hand, some politicians introduce platforms aimed to force us to buy insurance.  But what if you are disqualified by the almighty insurers?  You can't make everybody get insurance if more and more people are refused insurance due to risk.  Something has got to give here, and the madness must stop.

Best of luck to your brother...sm
I am glad he is getting this checked out and that they moved the stress test up.  The sooner they figure out what's going on, the sooner he can treat it and at least get that stress out of the way.  Let us know how things go.
My brother has 6 boxers.
They don't bite, but they do jump and they wag their tales hard.  They are natural lickers (kissers), in my opinion.  All we say the whole time we visit is "GIIITTT" because when one is done jumping and kissing/licking, here comes the next one...
My brother has done the same as you and she doesn't get it at all (sm)
He has not been to see her in 5 years and has a one-year-old baby she has never even seen, plus older children she has not seen in 5 years. To this day she thinks it is because his wife has turned him against her. She still doesn't understand that she did anything wrong.
My brother has has Boxers and he took

How about the surgery was $6,000.00 and the PT was $125.00 a visit for about 8 weeks.  Only the best for his dogs.  Now, he's contemplating putting him down because he still can't walk.

The other one had pancreatic cancer and surgery and just had an eye removed due to cataracts.  This totals you guys are giving aren't even close to what he's put out.

It's a shame these vets charge so much.

Dear brother:
Please make some attempt to pay back what you owe me. Your lack of effort and acknowledgment is doing far more damage than just making me poor.
~Lil Sis
Met at my brother's wedding.

That your brother was your stepbrother
and your mother was your stepmother, I realized it immediately, because you called them 'his son' and 'his wife', was the reason that you did not help locatiang your stepbrother's children, so that they can get their shares?

Strange, strange! This equals indicency. Did you really not know their whereabouts or did you never want to know?
Oh brother, get a life.
and really, just mocking herself. People who can make fun of themselves are more mature than those who are too high and mighty and stuffy to do so. By the way, I'm not a Megan fan, I just don't see anything wrong with her having a little fun at her own expense if she so chooses.
My brother was "babied" like this ... sm
and now he's 45, unemployed, and lives with my 76-year-old mother who basically supports them both with only her Social Security check.

Please, teach your daughter the RIGHT way. Some day (hopefully) she'll thank you for it.
My brother was also babied ..
It was like my mom wanted to spare him from "wanting" and anything he desired, he soon had. As he got older, he "desired" not to go to school in 11th grade and I watched in astonishment as my mother allowed him to sleep all day. When his class was graduated a year later, he was clearly upset that he had quit and ten years later, a GED. All because my mom had it in her mind not to let her little boy feel frustration.

And she kept it up, funding every whim he had, businesses, vehicles, advertising, huge chunks of money that she would get from inheritance or what, she'd pass immediately to him as a loan which he never repaid her and left her to live on SS when she was too old to work.

Well, three marriages and 30 years later, 6 months after my mother's death, (she was his troubleshooter, problem solver, biggest fan and enabler), my brother took his life at the age of 51.

All I believe we wanted was a sound healthy routine and maybe praise for confidence and a stress-free home with a mom and dad who actually enjoy each other (who here loves to hear their mom and dad laugh? Is that the greatest sound or what?).

So yeah, I'd let her quit things as she will discovery talents in areas and find other projects not her cup of tea but the best thing is to let her use her own mind to figure out how to deal with life's problems - a resourceful mind and a sound routine can get us through the worst of times.

Good look with your daughter. I am sure she is a darling.
My husband is 7.5 years younger. Been together almost 20 happy years...nm
nm
My feelings; people shacking up together for years and years
and then all of a sudden deciding to get married don't need a thing, obviously. A shower should not even be given. I lived with my now husband a while (nowadays who doesn't!) before we married and I also had been married before years ago but he was not....so of course HIS mom wanted a shower. I told her absolutely not unless it was just the immediate family, his mom, sisters, etc, more like a celebration/get together. And so that's what we did. Showers are tacky, period. Unless it's a couple of young kids getting married straight out of the house and that doesn't happen much anymore.
My brother told me that he watched my Mom
when they got married, so they would never get a divorce.  Yeah, he said when you get married, they give you two divorce tickets that if torn up, can't be used!!!  I believed him, and no, my parents never divorced!!!
I don't either. If she loves your brother, that means she SM
should love you too, or, at the very least, respect the love you have for one other. She doesn't seem very loving.

My stepdaughter just got booted out of house by my stepson DH bought for the two of them by his new girlfriend. Doesn't exactly sound like love.

If you love man, you must love family or at least try to get along.

Sorry you had a bad time. Again, I don't understand this behavior. Life is easier when all get along and life is too darn short.
