The European countries are much different than here. This is not unusual for them to do this, have visited and know. Going in to lunch they will park their babies outside the restaurants sometimes- it is done. Years ago when going to Club Med (started out as French club) we had unlocked doors during the day- weell over the years that had to be changed as people dishonest- people still here in the US do not lock their doors - it is really dangerous now not do do so- but this is how some Europeans do with the kid situation.
