My feeling is that I want to get as much work done as possible in a shorter period of time so that when I am done, I can give my kids my undivided attention. In the past, I tried it with constant interruptions, and ended up stretching out my work day, with my work and home life kind of blurring together and never feeling like I gave 100% to either one. I will make sure they have plenty to do and that they are safe and they can come to me throughout the day at times. Also I will take a few breaks during the day and see what is going on with them, have lunch with them, etc, but I would like to avoid the hazy blur of where work ends and family time begins, because I think they deserve my full attention, not just my frustrated, partial attention, you know?
