That repulses me

I know they people that own pet stores want to make money, but I wonder if they are truely aware of "the cost". Yes, my DH owns his own business, as does my father, and basically the bottom line is to make money, but what these poor animals go through is reprehensible. BTW, netither of the business mentioned above have anything to do with animals. My daughter used to go to the pet store at our mall and play with the puppies. Since that is where we bought our dogs we became fairly good friends with the manager. Sometimes the dogs seemed so lethargic I wondered if they were being drugged so it would be easier to keep them in small cages. I feel sooooo stoopid. I truely want to make a difference. I am so fortunate to have our dogs in our life but they way they most likely came into this world makes me sick. I have a friend who is an "animal rescurer". She takes in animals until they can be placed in a good home. She asked us if we could help out by taking in cats until they could be placed and we did for a while but it was horrible on my daughter (15yrs old) letting them go so we stopped. We are now considering it again. he thing is, I am not a vegetarian, I eat meat and I feel like a hypocrite. There are obviously people in this world that don't regard any animal as a loved one. What can I say when people say "well, you just ate a cow or a fish", and I do have friends that say this. Someone, please tell me what I can do to make things better. Okay, I am rambling......Saturdays do that to me. I really need adult conversation LOL!
