Cutting slack
I don't think what she said was harsh at all - it is just factual. Anna Nicole sold herself for fame and celebrity and in the process, she obviously ruined her son and hasn't given her daughter much of a start in life. Good grief - she lied about who the child's father was.

She put herself in harm's way with all the drugs she took. If you have to a nurse travel with you to attend to your drug administration, you are in deep manure, which she obviously was.

I don't agree that she was a "poor woman," but she certainly did make a string of extremely poor choices in her life. No one forced that life on her - she chose it. I'll save my sympathy and compassion for that baby - she will need it.
cutting back
nothing is in walking distance to us, so we are cutting back on our Sunday drives - hiking at the farm, swimming in a family member's pool, going camping this weekend, just trying to combine trips into town where we used to just jump in the car and go. Also trying to save money other ways - like right now even though it is 90 degrees, I have not turned the air on. Windows are open and there is a decent breeze.
Cutting out the grandparent(s) sm
Please before you take such drastic measures, try everything possible to get your message across in a nice way. The pain of not seeing grandkids is so great and once you lose the offending person you may wish you had them back in your life so you could talk it all over and keep them in your life. My MIL was awful, awful, used to think she suffered from xenerism but miss her. I wish I would have been more patient with her instead of hurting her and my husband by dreading her visits. Life is temporary. I can remember my horror the day my dad showed my grandmother to the door for offering me candy, He literally threw her out. I will never forget how hurt I felt for her. I was only four but my heart was broken and I can still see it in my mind. There are other ways rather than banning someone from your life or your children's lives. I know this will make you even madder, so please don't flame me. Just my humble experience. Unless there is a personal injury, things can be talked over rationally I hope and rules can be set, even if you have to write it down in a nicely-worded card or note. Don't be sorry at the funeral..You have a brain or you wouldn't be a transcriptionist, be the adult but don't be mean about it. Banning is being very drastic IMHO.
That's actually a great idea - cutting out pic
Thanks! I may just do that. My daughter would never dream of asking us for something this expensive for Christmas, which is exactly why I want to get it for her. She's just a great kid and we enjoy spending a lot of time together as a family and thought the Wii would be fun and (somewhat) active family time. Cutting out the picture and letting her know that we plan on getting it for her as soon as we find it (in case I can't get it before Christmas) is a great idea though!
cutting funding for schools....sm
My sunday paper today had an article about possible cuts for funding to schools.  I cannot believe how friggin ignorant the government is!!! (well, actually yes I can)  But it angers me to no end!!  They need to start thinking about cutting funding WITHIN the government!  But schools???? come on now!  Of all the possible things they could cut and they come up with children's education???  Don't they realize that these kids are the people who are going to be taking care of them one day, whether it be their doctor or lawyer, the president, lawmakers, or Transcriptionist or whatever.  They are OUR future in one way or another whether they're serving us food or wiping our butts!  We need them to be as educated as they possibly can be.  Besides, we need them to get a good education so they'll be able to get us out of this economical hell hole the government has got us into right now!  This has just been ticking me off for a long time but today seeing it in print really got to me.  Oh, and they're always cutting funding for mental health, too.  Um...hello????....I think maybe they're the ones who need the mental health care if they don't see what's wrong with THAT picture, either.  Children and mental health.  I just don't get it.  Anyone else agree with me?
The politicians cutting funding
Their kids will be the doctors and lawyers.  They assume our kids will be janitors and dishwashers, so they won't need an education.
Need to watch the patterning of the fabric when cutting it up,

Are you cutting back on Christmas this year?
With things being the way they are with the economy are you cutting back on what you buy for Christmas this year? I will to some extent but then I'm always pretty careful anyway.
Cutting back on Christmas spending this year

I thought it might be a good idea to post ideas for gifts that are inexpensive. I have made a few Christmas gifts in years past, but, since I've already given these particular gifts and my family members already "have one", I need new ideas!

I will start with the ideas of gifts I have given in the past:

I made family wreaths for each of my kids (grown). What I did was, buy a nice size wreath at the craft store, purchase inexpensive small frames at the dollar store (or wherever I could find them), made copies of baby pictures of my kids when they were little, family picture, pics of the grandbabies, etc. and framed each one - wired each framed photo onto the wreath, put in some berry sprays or whatever, and a 20 count string of white lights and some ribbon. Then I sprayed them with spray glue and sprinkled with the white snow stuff. Also, I put a few blank frames with Christmas card fronts so that they could add pics from the inlaws (who I did not have pics as children) and new baby pics as appropriate.

They were darling! My daughter in law actually cried when I gave them their wreath!

I also made a similar thing for my mom - I made her a Grandchildren tree - because she has too many grandchildren to get all their pics on a wreath. I just purchased a small, prelit tree from Wal - Mart, and basically, did the same thing - framed pics of all the grandchildren and children, glued ribbon to the back of the frames - hung them like ornaments, added some ribbon and some berry sprays. It was beautiful and she has used it every year since, because it is small and she can put it together herself - without much work.

I will post more ideas in a little bit, but, I need other ideas from all of you - because, how many memory or family wreaths can you give . . .
