In Reply to: I am so terrible at this that - Misha

My family used to have a vacation home about 3 hours from here and everytime we went my DH always drove. Everytime we went we would stop at Dunkin Doughnuts. (DH fav!)One time a friend and I drove back into town from the lake to go to the mall. I had never driven in this area before. I told my DH that I had no problem but almost missed the turn off at DD. He asked what turn off. I had taken the exit, drove stright across the road and right back up the on ramp to get right back on the highway. That was bad enough, but I also did the same thing when we we left the mall heading back to the lake. LOL! That was 19 years ago, he still loves to tell that story.

Misha - I don't think it's *humiliating*....
it just is what it is.........you do what you can - but humiliating?  I don't think so..........
I had something really, really embarrassing
I can't go into detail as I'm still red faced about it. Let's just say that I coughed and peed my pants at the same time........
How embarrassing! So you're saying that
while the teacher/principal spanked you, your mom stood there and watched and said give her two more? That just sounds horrible for some reason.

Then more at home? I would think you'd be bruised by all that (child abuse???)

Sorry you went through that. Sounds absolutely humiliating. The only good part about our school paddlings was that they never told our parents!
Embarrassing Moments

When's the last time you were embarrassed? Why?

BTW I asked this on another board and hardly anyone would answer it. Fear of being embarrassed again?

What was one of the most embarrassing moments for you? I'll go first SM

Picture it. . . .

First date. Distinguished man, very refined. He took me to an indoor soccer game and when we were walking up all the levels of stairs to get to our seats I tripped, big time and went straight for a guy sitting in an aisle seat.  It was like the poor spectator had the red cape and I was the bull.

Just to show you how neat the date was. .

He went at intermission to get us a drink.  When he was coming up the stairs I saw him grin. The next thing I knew he purposely tripped and everyone clapped and HOWLED!

YOUR TURN!

not a date thing but still embarrassing
while at a small get togther at a friend's house i was trying to sneak up on the host and take a surprise picture of her all evening. I finally tried to seize a moment when she had her back turned to me. Looking into the camera and concentrating I crept up on her quitely...doing soo well until...I forgot she had been loading dishes and walked into and fell onto the open dishwasher door. Everybody laughed so hard. needless to say I didn't get the picture!!!
I remember my dad embarrassing me on the field (sm)
This was a different era, I played in the late 70s and early 80s... and there was a lot of drinking in the stands!  We lived very close to the ballpark and my dad would walk to my game with a cocktail.  I didn't really think about the drinking part back then, but looking back now I realize that is what was happening.  But I will never ever forget my dad running right onto the field and yelling and pushing the umpire.  He embarrassed me many times.  And yes the other kids noticed and it was brought up at school.  And guess what?  I played in high school and college and even in a semi-pro league and once I was in control of getting my own self to games I never even gave him a schedule because I'd rather he just not go to the games.  I'm a coach now and I can kind of help the kids along with parents get out of hand, but there are certain parents I wish would get kicked out!  Please just enjoy the game for what it is.. a time in your child's life he/she will never forget (good or bad).
