Trying to Think The Best of Her (sm)

It sounded from the original post like this was a friend whose friendship went back to high school years. I had several friends in high school that I consider my friends, even though I haven't talked to them in 10 years. If I saw their name in the obituaries or a mutual friend called to tell me they died, I would attend the funeral. I'd get to the funeral and look for her husband, her high school sweetheart. And be just as outraged as she was to find that he had abandoned the wife in her hour of need.

Pancreatic cancer goes quickly (I lost a brother to it), and it's entirely possible that the OP didn't know the woman was sick until after she died.

Friend is the same thing as best-friend!
