I miss them terribly and can't stand cake donuts ::blech::  As far as Southern food, I grew up in central Arkansas and never had grits or greens until I met my husband, who was born and raised in the Tampa area. In my family, we had a lot of grilled things, chicken, burgers, etc. The only thing "wild" I guess I had was duck and duck eggs and fried frog legs. Since I've been with my husband, 14 years now, I've had crawfish etoufee, cheese grits with fish, and craved hot boiled peanuts while I was pregnant with my first child, all things I had never had before I met him. And I pride myself on being willing to try pretty much anything once. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.
